This is a bit of a late post, but even though the Lenten season has wrapped up, I stumbled upon this spot by chance while passing by. I didn't expect much, but since it was Friday and I typically stick to seafood and veggies, I was pleasantly surprised to find they offered a Lenten menu. The plate was just $8, which felt like a great deal--thank goodness it wasn't a $20 letdown! They had three Lenten options: fried fish, fried shrimp, or grilled shrimp, all served with a salad and two scoops of rice. It took a little while for the food to come out, but I was patient, and it truly was worth the wait! The fish was piping hot, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the salad was surprisingly delicious. The place seemed to be busy, loved the Hawaiian theme! which is always a good sign. Overall, it was an onolicious experience! Thank you!

It was our first time ever visiting in Ono Hawaiian BBQ. We had a buy one get one free coupon so we thought we'd give it a shot. The cashier was the best part of our experience. She was so gracious and very sweet. We ordered a chicken plate in a Hawaiian meat combo. I would say it was pretty basic, sort of locked any flavor. The inside of the restaurant was really cool very new and clean. Unfortunately if I want Hawaiian food, I'll drive myself to Naco.

Whole picture

Food was good until I got towards the bottom. Looks like the cook served me the burned bits. It was gross to eat. Looked like neat, but wasn't. Shameful to get dinner and have this happen. You guys have to do better to keep customers coming back. I won't be back, no coupon or apology needed.

Came in before 5 min before closing and The cooks were pretty upset. Calling me "Gordita" and I felt bad because I know they were tired. I ordered the bbq plate that with tax 14$ they put me on a diet and filled the plate with mostly cabbage. I will not be going back. I've been a customer for years This location was not it. I speak Spanish so I understand what they were saying. I feel bad but an honest review. The cashier was the only real one .

Honestly I was impressed by the cleanliness and the fast service. For it to have such a low rating... idk. Maybe I came at a good time? None the less the food was piping hot. I got my food in less than 5 min . Customer service was on point and my food was delicious . Wouldn't mind coming back. Most of the time this place is packed on a weekend.

Ordered the chicken and beef combo plate with veggies only. Flavor was kinda bland... nothing really to it to say "oh wow" this is delicious. The service was fast and friendly. Inside was clean. Bathroom could use some cleaning. But probably won't be back to have lunch... not all that great.

I ordered chicken beef combo They gave me katsu and chicken Wish I knew I would have gotten the katsu sauce

I've been here before and I thought it was ok, but hadn't come back until recently. Ono and the library were giving out free kids meal for checking out books. My daughter checked out books and earned a free kids meal. While I brought her to get her free kids meal I got myself a plate and it was so delicious! The chicken is nicely browned, the ribs were so tender soft, so was the meat. The veggies were delish. I will be coming back over and over since I love a high protein veggie dish. Extra points to Ono for motivating kids to read with their free meal incentives.

Spam Musubi (2 pcs),

Healthy option, the lemon pepper grilled chicken, mac salad , not really healthy but so good. Didn't eat the rice but still not happy about the 2 broccoli, out of all the veggies, we asked for no rice extra veggies, broccoli but still only got the 2 broc pictures. We also always grab a couple of spam musubi s for our kiddos. They like em.

The $8 Seafood Aloha specials are definitely Ono and timely during Lent season. Comes in your choice of Crispy Shrimp, spicy Lava Shrimp or White Fish and we tried all 3 meals. Each combo plate comes with a green salad, dressing and rice. Tartar sauce and katsu sauce condiments a must! What more can I say - they're simply good and satisfying! Available until 4/18/25!

But the bbq chicken and bbq beef were right on the money. I did have a problem paying $24 for one combo and one drink, as even with these three items, I was still expecting the meal to not be more than $20 total. That will be the main reason I probably won't return. The service was good. It was quick and friendly. And the ambiance was alright too as everything was clean, efficient, and not distracting. I just agree with the statement earlier that there are better rice bowl, hawaiian, and/or teriyaki food joints in the area at either a much better quality or better pricing. This seems to find that line where what you get, though good, is a bit over-priced for what you get and there is no recourse to get something smaller because then you will be over-paying and still hungry. I'd almost give this place a 4 though because I did enjoy the meal quality-wise.

This place is SO good, and I haven't gone anywhere else for Hawaiian BBQ since. It's a true mom-and-pop local spot, which I love. We often get the family meal which includes 3 mains, mac salad, and rice. The portions are generous, filled to stuffing the to-go containers. There's a help yourself to teriyaki and/or katsu sauces and sodas counter. The food here is consistently hot and delicious. Always tasty, always savory, always happy to have leftovers! Today's order was: bbq beef: marinated savoriness and tender; short rib (bit of an up charge) grilled perfectly with tender, juicy, well marbled bites; and teriyaki chicken that's always moist. Mac salad is luxuriously creamy that compliments the rich and savory meats, while rice sops up the delicious sauces. Heck, I'm a sucker for the bed of cabbage for the same reason! You just can't go wrong here. Friendly, fast, delicious, and fairly priced. It's what keeps us coming back.

Usually I find the workers at Ono to be super friendly and nice, but the experience I had tonight…read morewas kind of an aberration. Yes, I arrived 50 minutes before they were closing, but it certainly didn't warrant being treated like I had wrecked wedding plans. First off, the first was good as usual. I was in the mood for shrimp and Ono is pretty reliable at making an inexpensive breaded shrimp entree. The BBQ chicken was fairly delicious. Ono making inedible food is never the problem. They consistently rock everything they offer on their menu. As some of you know, it's a pet peeve of mine when I call special attention to eating it there as opposed to getting it to go. I like taking my time--still being respectful if they're closing--to eat my meals while the food is piping hot, while I have access to refills if I need it, and while I still have the ability to order more while I'm there if I'm still hungry. I hate when food joints place everything in containers and bag it all up, trying to kick you out the door. It ruins the ambience of meals being a time to relax and recalibrate. Not to mention I appreciate the opportunity to take pictures for Yelp on a plate or platter while the food is looking particularly photogenic. I can forgive a place if they no longer use real plates or platters, opting for a container. But I despise having to remove my food from a plastic bag that I don't need and then becomes a thing that goes into the trash because it's now used. So it was that I asked for a tray so I could take my dinner to a table. Instead of giving me one though, the worker looked like she wanted to tell me no, that eating in-house wasn't allowed. She turned to her co-worker saying, this guy wants tray. The second worker then asked me, "Do you really need a tray?" I'm pretty sure that's not up to the worker to decide if I require a tray. That's purely a decision on whether my current food load, condiments, sauces, and utensils warrant having a medium by which to ferry all of it to my table. After assuring her that, yes, indeed, I needed a tray, she finally handed one over. After that, maybe it was part of their closing duties, but they constantly had one worker sweeping the floor, wiping the tables, pushing the chairs in, &c... while I was trying to eat. It was one step away from being surveilled during my meal. Perhaps they thought they could catch me underutilizing said tray to get a picture for a gotcha moment. Or maybe they just generally dislike when customers use trays. I don't know. All I know is it gave the whole meal a feeling of being on the clock, having such helicopter tactics utilized against me. It tainted the whole meal. I hate having people moving around me when I'm trying to eat, but it's especially unnerving when it feels targeted to make me uncomfortable. That's some passive aggressive silliness. As aforementioned, the food was still delectable. You really can't go wrong with Hawaiian food when you're in a certain mood--shrimp or otherwise. But I don't know how often I'll be coming to this location if this retaliatory behavior is what I can expect when I humbly give directions to eat my food there and utilize one of their most sacred trays.
