You will find everything at a typical weekend market but on a much grander scale. There is something here for everyone. Glebe Street Fair is very kid friendly with many activities on offer to keep the younger generation entertained - a great day of family fun. Being in November, it is also the perfect place to pick up some Christmas gifts. And when you're done, why not reward yourself with a drink at one of the nearby pubs. Ah, what a perfect Sunday!

No, Paul, you're ridiculous (I say to myself in retrospect), it's to host the Glebe Street Fair! Taking place once per annum, it's an exciting event where dozens of vendors set up stalls in the middle of the street. There's over a kilometer of different stalls with ethnic food, handmade crafts, and nifty activities. I, along with hundreds of other people, descended into the street to check out the buzz. The fair has entertainment all day long, including attractions for kids, live music, and street performances. I was so intrigued by the amount of stalls here that sold practical and quirky things; I ended up making friends with a hammock salesman. Who'd have guessed? The performance I was most looking forward to was the unicyclist riding a super tall unicycle. Unfortunately, it started belting rain in the late afternoon, so I ran back home, disappointed once again at Mother Nature.

Was a fab evening of circus performances on the big top stage and fun activities - dress up in circus costumes, ride on the carousel, have a go at hula hooping, plate spinning, etc. Inbetween the main performances there was a band playing and we enjoyed drinks from the bar and free popcorn and candy floss, whilst a magician entertained the crowd. We also spent time having a look at the circus exhibits. The night culminated with an exciting fire juggling display outside the front entrance. Really enjoyed the event and think it's a great idea for museums to hold special after hours events that tie in with their temporary exhibitions and bring them to life. Most of the rest of the museum wasn't accessible during the event but I'd seen enough to inspire another visit to check out the museum itself when I returned to Sydney later. As its name suggests, the museum is housed in an old power station building which is a large and spacious venue. The exhibits cover subjects like transport, steam engines, electricity, computers, modelmaking, etc. I was excited to have a poke around the life-sized space shuttle model in the space section, disappointingly part of it was taped off as out of order. Unfortunately, we came across other interactive exhibits elsewhere in the museum that weren't working either. I'd have rated it four stars if it wasn't for this as it's quite an interesting place.

The Star casino has been reviewed plenty of times and the poker room is just another part of that,…read morebut as most poker players know, the poker room is completely separate from the main gaming floor! The Star Poker Room (aka Big Game Poker) was opened in late 2009 which finally moved the few poker tables out of the hubbub of main room and up into its own large room. You'll know when you're getting nearer as the noise of vocal (read: annoying) players blends with clinking of chips to form a poker orchestra. Tables are opened (generally) depending on the demand for a particular game - $80-200 NLH ($2/$1 blinds) and $200-500 NHL (unsure of blinds - never had that much money on me!) are the most popular, and you may have to wait a while to get a seat at the $80-200 game, but they have plenty of space so if they have enough dealers, they'll try and start more games. Obviously, your playing against other players, so the casino isn't taking all your money, but to make sure that it makes a bit of cash off you, they charge $5 at the top of each hour (and if you start some point during it, they'll charge you accordingly) and they take a 10% from each hand, up to a maximum of $8 (that's the $80-200 game, not sure about others). The games themselves...all my experiences have come at the smaller $80-200 game and it can be a wildly varying experience! If you're into playing a sensible, well-thought out game of poker, then this probably isn't for you - too many players who play the smaller games, just throw many at it and don't really pay much attention to anything else, which can be a little annoying, but have a couple of drinks and get in their mindset and you should be fine! They also hold weekly tournaments as well as some bigger, international competitions, so keep an eye out on the website for those!

#84 for 2021 This…read moreis the 1st and only con I've been to in Australia to date. It will be rated amongst the North American cons we have been to that include SDCC, Amazing Con, Fan Expos, MegaCons, Rose City, Wizard and Ace but not inclusive. In that perspective this review may not be fair to the Australian Comic Cons in general. However, because comic cons have reached an international level I believe this review can provide a working ground to vast imporvements. There isn't much that takes from a true comic con. This con seemed to be geared more towards crafters and retail merchandise vendors. There wasn't much comics at all and hardly any comic creatives. There were many fantasy writers which I thought was great. A few who were actually trying to put out a comic book but were just getting started. Cosplay was big but seemed to be a little behind other cons. We know Australia has their talents and makes me wonder why they were not present here. The event is held in the International Convention Center right there in beautiful Sydney Harbour. The center I felt was organized well enough. The attendance was there. Having a group of A list creative writers, artists or editors I believe would help draw other creatives to make this a viable show representing comics. That would attract people with bigger wallets willing to spend a lumpy purse. To further facilitate this and to expand on the events an art auction would be good. You could then have artists who may not be able to attend send in pieces giving guest a chance to get hard gotten original art. Portions of the proceeds could go to a charity for additional marketing benefits. A good portion would go back to the artist that could entice them to attend and fill up a good artist alley. Those are some of my ideas. Hope it gets better down under so we can participate.

Truth be told, this dalek may have strutted too. Alot of people yelled exterminate at me but they didn't realise how much I wanted to exterminate them. I was channelling my inner evil dalek. There were kids, teens, adults and a stall for everyone and everything. Even the army were there. I can only assume to recruit the halo people. I got to stalk Jason Momoa around while he shopped. He is so big! And furry! And big. I wanted one but was told they only made one in the factory and he's already owned. I also got to meet The Shat! William Shatner was lovely. Looking old, but lovely. Orlando Bloom seemed to think he needed a lot of security guards whole he dashed in and out of a side door without looking at the stalls compared to the one oz comic con employee that was following Momoa around while he shopped. There were stars from Buffy there too. And star gate... And the hobbit. Oh so many geeks! I picked up some new furry hats, some goggles and an assortment of other wonders to keep me looking fabulous at burning man next year. But all in all? Thanks the various gods that they finally came to Sydney! I had all the fun. My feet hated me after about 9 hours of solid walking. But it was worth it. Ps. Who knew that comic artists were so adorable? Well now you do. I shall see you at next year's ;)
