We were only there for a weekend, so we didn't use the kitchen, dvd player, etc. But, we did use the hot tub! Nights and mornings were in the 50's and breezy (aka cold wind!) and the hot tub was great for both morning and night. The creek running past is calming and drowns out any sounds from town. The convenience of the location with the privacy, make this cabin perfect. As others have commented on their website, the cleanliness was amazing! The hot tub was already hot when we showed up and there was a treat in the fridge, yummy! The drive to Cherokee is easy, and passes by Bearmeats Indian Den, one of the few shops with real hand crafted goods. Be sure to stop by there. The furniture was comfortable. Furniture and décor is typical styling for a rental cabin, but in much better shape than many I have seen. The pictures are true to what is there. I slept so soundly in the bed, I didn't even wake during the rainstorm. The kitchen, although we didn't use it, was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. needed for cooking. Plenty of silverware, plates, cups, and mugs for 2-4 people. Washer and drier were great to have available. We used the dryer and it worked fine. We did not use the grill, but there is one available. There is one flaw, and that is the shower. It is small. My husband is 6' and ~170lbs and it was tight. The shower served its purpose, but if you are larger, consider one of their other cabins. This shower would not deter us from coming again, we absolutely would! I just want to include that so others can pick which cabin is perfect for them. Madeline clearly takes pride in her cabins and will gladly help you pick out the right one. When I called, I had it narrowed down to 2 and she told me more about each. She wanted to make sure we loved it as much as she does.

The employees in the office of Carolina Vacations are very kind and polite. Although the fact that i have to drive out of my way to their office to get keys is antiquated. I generally am able to settle contractual and payment matters online before i arrive, and use an electronic lock or lockbox, since almost all properties have wifi these days. Round trip, an hour of my life that I wont get back. I showed up at check in time , and the receipt and keys were not ready. Gladly waited in their lobby because it allowed me the opportunity to charge my cell phone and do a little work online. The receipt still did not agree with my online receipt from the owner that i received online, but i was assured that my card would just be charged for the amount online shown on Home Away. Got to the property after a serene drive through the hills and mountains. Nice looking house. Unlocked the door and would throughout. Unfortunately the downstairs had not been cleaned at all as each room downstairs either had dirty towels, unmade beds or trash. Upstairs looked like it had been picked up, but not cleaned. Dissapointing to pay full price, a cleaning fee, and a hot tub cleaning fee for a dirty house. Carolina Vacations needs to step up their property management game.

It was a perfect place for our family to vacation and we really enjoyed exploring all of the sights along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We even got Elk Slobbered by a very loving, yet large mammal. We fell in love with the area and specifically with this exceptionally cute and private cabin. So much so that we found out it was for sale and bought it two weeks ago. It has been a great experience adding our personal touch to make it the cabin of our dreams. My wife and daughter and I hope you will love it as much as we have. It is truly a remarkable location and convenient to so many of the wonderful things that this section of the country offers for relaxation and recreation.

I did reservation with this company for one of their properties from December 23 to December 30 and…read moreeverything was paid already I even rent a car that cost me $2500 not refundable hi son I have emotional issues and because that we have a support service dog so we ask them if we can bring with us the dog so they say no and that was fine with me I told them I found a place to put the dog and not need to cancel the reservation for the vacation today I got an email from this company that they are canceling the reservations with any explanation why we didn't break any rules or did something wrong now I'm stuck with the rental car that cost me $2500 and I don't know what to do this is not the way to treat people or customers and very highly not recommend on this company

Two king bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, porches, living area with pull out couch, and fireplace. Modern decor and comfy touches throughout like the heated floors in the bathroom. We also had an amazing view of the mountains. We had the pleasure of trying all the menus at Switchback Restaurant - breakfast, brunch, and dinner. Food was local and tasty. Vibe was lodge chic. Took advantage of the hiking trails as well. Did the Salamander Falls and Meadow trails. Great scenery and went right past the pasture with horses, which were so sweet. Most importantly, the staff were all incredible. Everyone was pleasant and accommodating. They made it so easy to communicate requests both before and during our stay. Thanks for a great time!

Stayed here for a festival at the fairgrounds and couldn't of had a better weekend…read more There were 4 adults and 2 dogs in our cabin, we had some friends join us throughout the weekend and never once felt cramped for space in our 2b cabin. We're not small people either and we enjoyed a few meals together at the table, played games on the living room table and spent a good amount of time out back near the creek. The fire pit was a nightly favorite with our group, they don't provide wood but we grabbed some at the gas station near by. We were here in prime leaf peeping season and the place was pretty quiet considering. I was surprised to see this place had such a low rating. We loved everything about our stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook minus spices and such, which wasnt a problem because we kind of new that was the case. Plus would you really want to use leftover food? No thanks. The space was clean, beds were a bit squishy but thats all personal preference. The decor matched the rustic feel perfectly. Sure the price was a bit high but thats the area. All in all we felt it was fair for everything that we got. Check out was breezy - check out was just the same. Our whole group and everyone that met up with us agreed that we would have been just as happy hangin in the back yard all weekend. The cabins back up to the creek and it is just pure mountain magic ya'll. There are fire pits, charcoal grills, a few chairs and picnic tables for each cabin. The cabins are fairly close together but we never really saw anyone else despite being tourist season. We booked another weekend here before we even left, dont have anything planned just looking forward to another weekend in these beautiful mountains, creekside.

Our small leased dog, was attacked by the owner's mixed pit bulldog, after, the owner left a gate open. Our 13 pound dog lost an eye during this attack. The owner paid the initial vet bill, at a local vet office, in Waynesville, NC, but would not cover the remaining vet bills, that we incurred back home. Our dog had surgery the following week, by an ophthalmologist for the eye removal. Our girl has adjusted to her one eye World, and, we have been able to meet her needs, concerning her limited vision. Be aware that the bulldog may still be on the resort property , behind an approximately 3 foot old wooden picket fence. Please be very careful, if, you choose to stay on this property. Also, I their "dog policies" to be way over the top, and ridiculous .. Really weird to have added on dog policies, when, on the premises, the owner keeps a dangerous dog.

There are poo bags for the better, responsible pet owners and most are so. There are protected swans and geese everywhere, which adds to the beauty. Most of the walkers are friendly. Plenty of places to stop and sit to take it in or meditate. There's even dining if you're making an evening of it-including a crepe shoppe and ice cream shoppe. Please clean up after your pets, to keep this gracious area pet friendly!
