Also want to say that we have our own vacation rental in the Outer Banks and are very aware of some of the issues that come up while guests are in the house. Therefore we try to handle any where we rent with the same respect and care that we hope someone does to our place. Unfortunately this Cabin started out bad from the beginning. When we got there and opened up the place there was a distinct smell. So we thought-ok its been closed up for awhile lets get doors and windows open get air flow in. My husband does Commercial HVAC so he said-let me check the AC units. Everyone one of them was full of black mold. So bad in fact we headed back down the mountain and bought cleaning supplies. He spent the first four hours of vacation cleaning them out. Then there was the dried dog feces upstairs the mouse feces in the dishes the DVD player which doesn't work the VHS tapes everywhere with no VCR and finally the Directv which doesn't work either. Oh and one more thing-the shower upstairs leaks into the Master Bedroom downstairs and the downstairs bathroom is full of mold on the ceiling as well. That was two more things. Anyway I placed a call to Yellow Rose the next day and let them know the situation. Explained to them everything-black mold, leakage, turds, TV, turds, etc etc..They asked if we wanted a plumber and said they would send out a tech for the AC. She also said she was going to text or email me when someone was coming out. And stated she would talk to her manager about a credit. Never got a text never got an email-we had already done most of the cleanup so not sure if anyone ever came out as we weren't at the Cabin a good bit of the time. When we first got there we realized that the floors were so dirty we had to wash our feet again before going to bed. Then the toilet would not flush and fill back up for a while and it leaked at the bottom so much we had to put a towel around it. Then we washed our clothes and it leaked around bottom of washer. The closet in bedroom was full of junk and no hangers so had to leave clothes in chest of drawers. There was an extra chiffrobe but it was locked. We called the office and they sent someone out to fix toilet but they didn't. The faucets in sink and tub had dripped until both looked so nasty from iron residue that before I would bathe in tub we bought cleaner and scrub pad and cleaned them both. Even after telling person at office all of this he didn't apologize nor offer any type of refund or discount. Needless to say, we won't use this company again! Such a shame it was a cute little cabin and being right beside the stream it would have been super if all these things had been checked out before we ever got there!

I booked Time Flies over three months ago, unaware that some Airbnb properties operate under a "Super Strict" policy that offers zero flexibility -- even with a month's notice. Most responsible hosts provide at least partial refunds or a date change. Had I known otherwise, I would never have booked here. Four weeks before our trip, my elderly dog suffered a massive seizure and is unlikely to recover. She was coming with us, and under the circumstances, we simply cannot travel. I reached out immediately, explained the situation, and asked to cancel. The host has refused, offering their templated "compassion" -- choosing to keep the full $1,800 for a stay that won't happen and for which they'll provide no service. Seldom do I feel it necessary to leave a one-star review, but this experience fully warrants it. This is greed disguised as policy -- no compassion, no flexibility, no basic decency. Book elsewhere.

Check in and out during COVID is contactless and very easy. Cabins are always clean. Everything you need to prepare meals inside or grilling out (minus the food of course ). Just be aware when booking a cabin that some are up some winding one lane road, that has two way traffic. Usually without guardrails. But if it's breathtaking views and seclusion you are looking for then it's well worth the white knuckle drive up these mountains. I personably don't mind them and rather enjoy the views going up. Many of the cabins are pet friendly so bring your fur-kids to enjoy the great outdoors with. They are currently doing one day gap between rentals to allow for thorough cleaning between rentals. The add-ons have not worked out to well for me. This year I did not get what I asked for but they did refund half the cost of it, which I found completely acceptable. Whether a family vacation or romantic get away you can't go wrong.

The rental company worked with me so that I could bring my dog, and the cabin was clean. They are certainly small, but for two people it was fine. The hot tub overlooking the national park was the best experience. Looked out and saw the sunrise/sunset each day we were here, and it was amazing. Hot tub is covered with a tin roof on the porch, which sounds amazing when it rains. Wished they had turned on the heater for the tub earlier, it was only 93 when we arrived. Room now has a flat screen with DirecTV! Stove could use some updating, burners are crooked and old, but the ol' girl still worked just fine. Recommend printing out directions as cell signal gets pretty sparse in areas, I used MapQuest and had no issues. I'll be keeping an eye for more deals, as my stay was excellent!

The negatives: this place was very dirty, we know it's a cabin in the woods and didn't expect pristine conditions, but it was dusty, tons of cobwebs, dirty kitchen utensils, we washed everything we used from the kitchen before usage, the sheets would not stay on the bed due to the plastic on the mattresses, evidence of mice infestation with droppings in the kitchen cabinets, do not even look under the beds...looks like years of cobwebs, laundry was left in the dryer, the upstairs shower looked old and nasty, one bedroom door would not close, the top shelf in the fridge is unstable with a middle support dangling, the oven doesn't look like it has ever been cleaned. My summary would be to inspect Larky Lodge before you move in. The place is in need of a major deep, deep clean. It has so much potential to be a place a family could come back to year after year.

The bed was comfy and bathroom good size. It was a very comfortable and cozy experience, with a fireplace inside and another on the back deck where you can sit out and enjoy the beautiful views. Everything was very clean. We loved sitting out & eating breakfast looking at the Smokies and at night sitting outside with the fireplace. The cabin is clearly well taken care of and next to it there is a hutch with chickens, a Guinea hen, and rabbits. Joe lives nearby and has alot of good recommendations. Protip: arrive before dark, the roads are windy and steep at times. The nearby town of Bryson City has everything you would likely need & is very cute.

Virginia's Cottage was a perfect location in Bryson City! It is directly across from the railroad…read moretracks. There is no train traffic past 5pm. In the mornings you can hear the trains and whistles getting ready for the day of trips they do out of the depot. It's very nice and makes you feel at home. The cottage is well decorated and very clean. We loved the landscaping with a wide variety of flowering plants. The beds were very comfortable and claw foot tub was very cool. We met a lady at the chocolate shop that knew about Virginia and her home. Also, Faye at Walnut Creek Farms knew Virginia and told us stories of her. The cottage was the perfect jumping off point to explore the Smokies and surrounding towns like Cherokee. We did 3 waterfalls in the Deep Creek area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Lots of places to explore and check out in Bryson City as well. So much history and Nature to check out! We even watched Fireflies while sitting on the porch. A++++
