These are great to have because I stay here for poker and don't always like to eat at the casino. You also have easy access to Waynesville and Lake Junaluska. The owners are very friendly and everything about this place is super laidback. Despite that, they keep the place incredibly clean. Whether you're here to hike, ski, go to the casino, or something else, Veda Inn is a much better option than any of the chain hotels. Excellent stay! Second time at Asheville Cottaged and we cannot say enough about the experience. They think of everything to make your experience top notch! We arrived and were feeling a little snacky. No problem! The snack tree and variety of waters/soft drinks/juiced beverages in the fridge were welcome! We browsed the binder for suggestions on where to grab dinner. After dinner at White Duck Taco, we stopped Ingles for a few groceries. Of course, Tracie and Marshall made sure each cottage had an Ingels savings card to use! Need a battery? Under the kitchen sink. Ziplock bag? Yep..,check a drawer in kitchen. They think of everything you may need and have it on hand for you! Loved the soaking tub! Loved the heated bathroom floor. Loved heated toilet seat. Accidentally hit a button on the bidet in the middle of the night and got a little surprise rinse off. . The big surprises were seeing a few bears late one afternoon behind the cottage (Magnolia). Thankfully, we just sat quietly on the deck and they looked at us and took off for the woods. Overall, it was a great trip and on the flight home, I started to look at availability to come back for a girls trip later in the Fall with my sister and niece. But before I could book anything, Hurricane Helene severely impacted the area. My heart breaks for all the families who lost loved ones in this disaster. By finding them on social media to see if they were ok, I found out that thankfully Asheville Cottages did not sustain much damage due to their location. Since Asheville tourism is essentially stopped, Tracie and Marshall have graciously opened their cottages to local families who have been displaced by the hurricane as they still have electricity and water. They also are still paying their employees salaries during this time (as they did during Covid) - taking care of them like family. THIS is exactly the kind of small business that my husband and I are proud to support so we will be staying at Asheville Cottages next time we come to Asheville...whenever that can happen.

We went out and came back around 10 and were thirsty and definitely could've used some snacks!!

Paul and Mirlin have taken hospitality to a whole new level. Each room is unique and well appointed. We stayed in Claudette, where we enjoyed a comfortable king canopy, a private bath with luxurious towels a beautiful overlook of the property and if I fail to mention the automatic espresso machine, I will be doing a disservice. Honestly, it made a very good cup that I enjoyed immensely. The property is gorgeous, the gardens lovely with plentiful cozy seating on the deep set porch stretching the perimeter of the home, providing optimal viewing for an evening firefly show. While Paul modestly described the four course gourmet breakfast as, "just breakfast", I assure you, it was not! I'm including pictures of one morning's fare. We were treated to what I can only describe as masterful culinary experiences. Each served on fine china, crystal and silver. We felt like royalty and were treated as such! As if all of this were not enough, Paul and Mirlin themselves, were the highlight of our stay. We may have arrived as guests, but I feel we left as friends.
