Haven't been to a Maggiano's since 2018 & thanks to Lindsey, our next visit will be much sooner than 7.5 years. We popped in for a quick birthday lunch while we were walking South Point & Lindsey made us want to stay for the dinner hour! He was so kind, attentive & ready to ensure any need we had was met! He was such a delight and even brought Chef Kenny out to us when we had special allergen/dietary needs that needed to be accommodated! When we come back we will surely asking for Lindsey! I attended Maggiano's Mother's Day family meal with 3 other members of my family. The restaurant was extremely busy. However, our waiter was excellent and the vibe was great. The ambience is always cozy and romantic. However, the food was not as desirable as usual. I will return again in the future to try a different dish. The shrimp Alfredo was watery, under seasoned, and had few shrimp. On the flip side, service was average. read more

From this decades-long fan, SOUTHPT MAGGIANO'S PRICES HAVE SKYROCKETED, WHILE FOOD QUALITY HAD GONE DOWN!! I'm basing this on our last 3 outings their over the past year. First, they've replaced their former complimentary bread basket & seasoned olive oil w/ a mundane brioche bun plate. Second, their menu (including "Specials") has shrunk somewhat, just as certain entree portion-sizes have. And, most importantly, the quality of their some of their dishes has plummeted: e.g the chicken dish I ordered last night @ $25.50 had OVERCOOKED chunks of chicken, NO trace of the advertised caramelized onions, and a tasteless, watery sauce (I took almost all of it home to resurrect it, although the chicken will be hopeless). The only highlight was our server's recommendation of an excellent appetizer--a plentiful fried zucchini dish (Maggiano's freebie offer to me in trying to win me back via their new Rewards program), although it was also slightly overpriced at $16.50. I know that this industry has had to cope with lots of adversity since 2020, but this Maggiano's has made way too many negative modifications of its dinner menu to hold onto our business. read more

Stopped by for a late afternoon snack and coffee pick me up. Ordered the meatballs and ricotta and it was all DELICIOUS!! I'll 100% be going back and ordering again (although apparently there's a menu change and you'll have to order them separately ). The meatballs are big, all beef and the sauce is yummy. Enjoyed my snack outside on a small patio. It was cute but not very much in the sun. The bar was very inviting and I wouldn't mind stopping in again and enjoying some drinks and snacks at the bar. If you happen to be physically challenged like i currently am, get dropped off at the door. I used to love Maggiano's and would even drive an hour out of my way, because it always felt special. After my recent visit, I doubt I'll ever go back. It feels like Brinker International, the parent company of Maggiano's and Chili's, is stripping both restaurants down to the bare minimum. They have removed iconic menu items like the meat sauce for pasta, which is shocking for an Italian-American place. My mozzarella marinara came out half the size it used to be, with a tiny portion of sauce when the marinara was once a big part of the dish. Service was also very poor, with only one server working the entire lunch shift. What has been happening around the country is now happening at brinker owned chains: a slow decline where once-special places lose the very things that made them worth visiting. Portions shrink, popular menu items vanish, and service suffers until there is little left of the experience that kept people coming back. The one good outcome of this visit is that I no longer feel the need to drive an hour for a meal at Maggiano's. What used to feel special has been reduced to something I won't go out of my way for again. read more

It's become a tradition to come celebrate family birthdays here - tonight was no exception! We opted for the family style dinner which has changed since our visit last year. Previously you would select a few appetizers and would get endless portions of the main entrees but now they provided a charcuterie type first course which includes: Parmesan Genoa salami Olives Second course: Caesar salad Calamari Fried zucchini Wagyu meatballs For the third course you have several main entree options, we selected lasagna, rigatoni D, salmon and beef tenderloin. Everything was so delicious! The portion sizes were huge and we were pretty much full before the entrees even arrived. The fourth course includes lemon cookies, tiramisu and strawberry cheesecake and complementary limoncello. Our server, Fraz was incredibly kind, attentive and funny! He along with his associates made our meal for a party of 11 a breeze! The old school jazz music is always a pleasure and our overall experience was excellent! Great food! Came in after some shopping. Would definitely return. Service was not very fast especially considering the restaurant was basically empty. Servers were friendly and attentive for the most part and gave great recommendations. Food was delicious! Ordered the lasagna and chicken masala and they did not disappoint! Big portions! Everyone took leftovers home. We also ordered the red Sangria pitcher which in my opinion was not very good or boozy if that's what you're looking for. Wow, wow and wow. From the bread to the mozzarella sticks and zucchini fritters, to the salads, then the main course.......WOW. 6 of us was eating and family style. The food was AMAZING. Service was AWESOME. Back to the food, chicken Parmesan, chicken fettuccine, steak medallions.....unreal flavor and seasoning. Mushrooms were delicious and the dessert was to die for (we were there for my daughter's 16th Birthday). We will be back and won't eat all day before coming! If you're used to juggling hot food and cold drinks while trying to celebrate a marriage but can't because you have to do half the work of the waiter and get no help from the hostess or manager, then this place is for you! We walk in, the hostess said we could sit with the rest of our party at a table for eight. We get there and the leaf on the expandable table is at an almost 45 degree angle so I can't have drinks or food on it. They then refuse to let us move tables and she puts a napkin in the hinge to hold it up. Tacky, and rude. I had to hold my plate at one point in order to eat because my food almost fell in my lap the entire time. The waiter was polite but made very little effort to help, for example we asked for a round of waters then we ordered extra drinks, but he brought us the extra drinks only and we had to continuously ask for water before they were brought. And he kept saying he would talk to his boss about the table but did anything change? Were we helped or compensated in any intangible way? Absolutely not. It wasn't just one side of the table either, my brother's new father in law had his food in his lap and my new sister in law's phone kept sliding off the table. A return visit after many years. This review is based on current experience on a Saturday late afternoon early evening after 4pm. The restaurant had some diners at the bar and some large groups were leaving and a large group celebrating a birthday was awaiting for everyone in their group plus table to be prepared for seating. My friend goes to the host station to get a table and the person asks if we have a reservation. My friend states "no, do we need one?". The host says "yes". If it were up to me..... I would have left! Host asks for personal information.....again I would have walked out! My friend provides and they state we would be seated at 4:30pm...within 11 minutes of asking. We were seated on the other side of the restaurant. The table and ambience seemed fine, but dim lighting to see menu. Our waitress seemed to be in a rush, perhaps this is her way of being efficient. She brings a covered stainless something placed adjacent to me and says she will bring the bread before I could even let her know I am gluten free! However, I did mention to the guy who seated us. The guy who seated us did let me know to let server know and that I could speak with the chef. The waitress brings the bread and I let her know I am gluten free. She lets me know they have pasta. (I am not interested in pasta unless it is homemade). She does have the chef come over. Thank you Chef Frank for assisting me with a selection 5 stars including to swap pasta and made a recommendation for an appropriate side option. Plus, recommending the 2 gluten free dessert options....which I planned to get the vanilla bean ice cream that you mentioned was homemade! The food arrives relatively quickly. The waitress asks about cheese and my friend says yes please. Back with the stainless dish. Waiitress puts on and I let her know that's good as in stop...and she dumps remaining cheese on the food and places container down and leaves. I prefer grated fresh not served as this is not the type of cheese more of crumbles. However, the entire meal was rushed by waitress. My friend was ordering something to go afterwards and it was brought out quickly. The takeout containers were placed on the table. I finished pouring from glass Aqua Panna bottle in glass and some guy picks up the glass after I set it down still full....I let him know that I was still drinking it! Before I could pack up my food this same guy ran over to collect the dish! Wow. As we left the restaurant, server clearing a dish practically walked into me. The aisle and congestion to navigate the restaurant could use a little rework to mitigate this issue. There were plenty of seating throughout the restaurant and the establishment should reconsider why a potential diner would need to make a reservation for two people. Understandable for a large group would need seating accommodation and waitstaff, plus inform the kitchen. If you are looking for a rushed dining experience, this is the place to go! However, if you are looking to enjoy a meal and conversation best to dine elsewhere. Notating a few employees were wearing facial masks. 4 of us are leaving an event and decided to have dinner at this location. We arrived at 4:15. No, we didn't have a reservation but the hostess said "ladies I can seat you now but you have to be finished and gone by 6, because I'll need the table for a reservation." The whole time we were there, there were other empty tables. I ordered blackened salmon that was had a sauce so salty that I couldn't enjoy it. Yes, we were done by six. Came here for a Christmas party about a week ago and it was absolutely amazing! The wait staff was so incredible, friendly, and overall outstanding. I got to try the beef tips with garlic mashed potatoes, chicken parm, rigatoni with vodka sauce, meatballs, crab cakes, and cheesecake and it was all perfection. First the good...we love this restaurants vibe and certainly the food but yesterday was a huge let down. Made reservations two weeks ago for Mothers Day. We were offered patio seating and decided we would give it a try. Patio had almost zero coverage and our table was fully exposed but the sun was behind the building at the time we were sat (11:45am). Server was great service was slower because of Mothers Day but by the time our main course was served we had full sun on us with zero shade available. We asked if we could move inside due to the sun exposure and was told there was nowhere for us. We certainly paid the price for a Maggiano's experience (about $300) but had to pack up food and eat it cold an hour later. We were guests in your house. There is no way your staff didn't know that that patio was going to get full sun exposure when we were seated there but we had no idea until it was too late and the only option we were given to correct it was TO GO BOXES. Our family loves eating at Maggiano's! As a family that lives with food allergies, this is one of our safe and favorite places to eat. We appreciate that when we mention someone has food allergies, a chef comes to the table to discuss the menu and what is to be ordered and verifies what is safe. The staff is always friendly and it's a great atmosphere. We tend to do reservations as the wait times can be long. The food is consistently delicious. It's been years since we've been to Maggiano's but we stopped by to use a coupon I had. Made reservations for a mid-Sunday afternoon meal on OpenTable and were promptly seated. The menu was a lot smaller than what I remembered, but I know restaurant chains have changed up their menus after COVID. We had truffle garlic bread as a starter (couldn't really taste the truffle), and salmon and shrimp fra diavolo for entrees. Food was fine but I think the prices were a little high for what we got. Our waiter was polite but seemed to disappear at times. Portions were decent, and I took some of my shrimp and pasta home to eat later. Was lucky to be able to snag a seat here for Valentine's Day and I'm glad I did. Place was packed but we were still able to get attended to relatively quickly, and we got sat fast in a nice room. Our waitress was great, very knowledgeable, attentive, and helpful. Wish we would've remembered her name. Everything here is good to me. From the bread and caesar salad, to the calamari that has tentacles and the crispy mozzarella. The lobster carbonara was extremely flavorful and had a great portion. The chicken Parmesan had great flavor to it and was cooked perfectly. It was cool to have my old fashioned come out in a smoking box, and it was good quality. My girlfriend enjoyed her margarita and said it was one of the best she'd had. We finished the night with a great creme brulee. Overall and great place for a romantic dinner. read more

From start to finish, my friend and I had an amazing experience at Maggiano's! We decided to stop in for dinner after shopping--luckily the wait was pretty short (only 10 mins). Every team member we interacted with was so kind, we got complimented by one of the servers as soon as we walked in which just made our experience pleasant from the jump. Our waitress, Ahleya, was everything you could ask for in a server: fun, attentive, charismatic, and friendly. She easily made my friend's birthday dinner a 10/10 night. The bread and parmesan olive oil dip was delicious, and the Dr. L Riesling was spot on. I can't tell you how much I needed the lasagna, though. It was so delicious and exactly what I wanted!! Maggiano's also brought my friend a free little birthday treat and we ordered tiramisu which I cannot recommend enough as it was so rich in flavor. We were also sat at a booth which was clean, comfortable, and spacious. We both agreed that we had a perfect spot in the dining room. The overall feel of the restaurant was very warm, relaxing, and intimate. They also box your leftovers for you so you don't have to worry about making a mess! And lastly, another compliment to Ahleya--she was an angel and took some pictures for us on our dinner date and kept hyping us up That made our night, especially since we don't get to see each other often and we always forget to take photos together. When my family and I visited Southpoint Mall in Durham we decided to start the visit with a nice meal from a sit-down restaurant instead of getting something quick from a fast-food place. After much discussion, it was decided that we would eat at Maggiano's. When we first entered and approached the hostess' stand, we were greeted by a very welcoming and attentive hostess who was legitimately happy to be helping us. While being escorted to our table, I couldn't help but admire the classy, warm atmosphere of the establishment, complete with background music from Frank Sinatra. After being seated in a very comfortable and well-set table, our waitress approached us after a miniscule wait. It was obvious that she was a true professional and loved her job, as she was very friendly and knowledgeable. She then returned from retrieving our ordered drinks and promptly took our orders, and I had decided on the Mom's Lasagna from the Classic Pasta section of the well-stocked yet not overwhelming menu. While waiting for our food to arrive, I couldn't help but admire the meticulously cleaned silverware, table clothes, polished wooden accents surrounding the U-shaped booth upholstered with plush black leather. Shortly after she left, she returned with a basket of complimentary bread complete with parmesan cheese and oil, which she hand-prepared at the table in front of us, guaranteeing it's freshness. Shortly after that she returned with my wife's appetizer of toast and truffle honey with ricotta butter topped with sun-dried tomatoes, which she happily shared with the rest of the family, and I haven't tasted a better toast and topping in a long time! When our main entrées arrived, I was impressed by the presentation of my lasagna. It wasn't simply cut out from a pan and placed haphazardly on a plate but was gently arranged in a shallow elongated bowl sitting upon another plate. Aside from my wife's homemade lasagna, I have never tasted a better version of this dish than the one offered at Maggiano's! It was not difficult at all to finish the meal, and I was a little sad when it was all gone. Only my two younger sons were unable to finish their pizzas, so we asked our waitress if she could bring us a to-go container, which she happily retrieved for us. When she returned with the container, she placed the leftovers in the container and sealed it herself! After receiving and paying the check, I escorted my two younger sons to the bathroom, and the men's restroom was meticulously cleaned! There was seriously nothing at all wrong that I could see with this restaurant, and I look forward to returning for another meal when we visit Durham again! read more

The food was very good. I had the Wagyu stuffed beef shells and it was very good. We also had the crabcakes which were also good but overall it's kind of your slightly above average Italian spot. It was good, but I have definitely had better. I like the ambience in there. Amazing experience close ish to Duke! We got there on a Saturday night and they were def busy (1.5 hour wait), but the mall is right next door so it passed by relatively quickly. Huge portions for their pasta and all my friends' pasta was super good. I got the filet mignon which was a top 5 cut I've ever had I'm sure.. it was cooked perfectly and the texture was really amazing. No complaints with the potatoes or the asparagus. Crème brûlée was also very solid, I've never had a bad experience with crème brûlée but the crunch on top was a perfect end to dinner. The food literally looked like it was microwaved, waiter forgot part of our order, new bread rolls that are flat and stale..no more olive oil and Parmesan for dipping..severely smaller portions..no glass candle votive..now this cheap led light...But..still the same high prices. We are here for a banquet. Two servers for 70 people. As a result there was terrible service, drinks not refilled, appetizers refilled for some tables but others given an excuse as to why they can't be refilled. This used to be a warm, family friendly place to eat, but sadly I do not recommend it for events. read more

I came here for dinner last night before seeing a movie at southpoint. And honestly I do not get what all the hate is the food was delicious and the service was on point. I loved that how I asked for the chicken parm I was asked if I wanted tomato sauce on it or meat sauce duh I had to have the meat and I am glad that I did. We also got the mozzarella appetizer that as well as Marinara sauce comes with a garlic aoli I felt that was better with that. read more
