If I could give my review of the chocolate factory tour + chocolate tasting experience more than 5 stars, you bet I would! My husband, brother, and myself visited Maeve (formerly Seattle Chocolate Factory) while visiting Seattle. We paid $15 each for the the tour today with Jaden. The first 15-20 minutes of the tour, you learn about the history of the company and the process of chocolate-making -from cacao bean to chocolate bar, in a "classroom setting." Then, your group heads to the factory and learn more about the machines used in the processing of chocolate. We sampled a couple kinds while on tour. Then, the group heads back to the "classroom" for a blind chocolate taste. The instructor Jaden leads the chocolate tasting and after guessing each kind, he tells us what we tried. The tasting offers a good variety (dark, mill, white chocolate) and the portions are really generous. They also accommodate dietary restrictions (our group had dairy-free and nut-free attendees). The gift shop has a good variety of gifts to choose from. My favorite part was that on Saturdays they put out chocolate sales, like 50% off the "retired" seattle chocolate bars and 1lb chocolate bags for $11 (that's about 8 chocolate bars!). Overall, I think the tour is a great value for what you pay and instructor was acknowledgeable and patient with answering our questions. You can tell he knows his craft well.

My taste buds better understand chocolate now.

Best way to start a Saturday! Tasted, learned and laughed our way through a great tour...also taking more chocolate home, but of course. Sam our guide was entertaining and informative! I was the out-of-towner taking locals here we all had a great time. Back in Topanga and craving the blackberry chocolate already.

The Funnel cake flavor is my FAVORITE!

They mostly do Mexican-style hot chocolates, made with all natural ingredients. The menu has a large variety of drinks to choose from. I'll admit, the prices are kinda high but for the unique product you're getting, I can understand. Also, I will warn you, many of the drinks have ground-up ingredients mixed in, so you might be chewing a bit on them as you drink, but I think that adds to the authenticity. It's part of the experience. I discovered Rey Amargo a couple years ago when I was walking around Cap Hill and they were offering samples on the sidewalk. It was the cardamom hot chocolate... at first taste, I knew I'd never forget this drink, and had to return to this place. The Spicy Mexican Mocha is another of my favorites. Smooth, a little smoky, a spicy background, and just enough coffee. If you ever stop at the café, the beverages are served in simple yet classy tall mugs. It's nice to just sit and sip while I stare out the window and let my mind escape.

We loved the Xocolatl; it is 100% Mexican cacao blended in water that looks like a warm chocolate soup, and comes with a chili, vanilla syrup, cinnamon and pepper that you can put in yourself depending on how much you want. It was very interesting, bitter, spicy, and complex, not sweet at all! It also made the perfect dipping sauce for the churros, which were deliciously crunchy with generous cinnamon and sugar. We shared an iced mint flavored Mexican hot chocolate as well, which was refreshing and perfectly balanced. This little hot chocolate cafe is well worth the street parking! I highly recommend stopping by to try both familiar and unique flavors at a great price.

You can choose to sit on the main floor, outside, or upstairs. Got a flight of red wine, a flight of whites, and a flight of chocolate (which comes with a glass of wine specifically as a pairing. This was my favorite wine). AND a free snack bowl was provided! The workers did an excellent job. They brought out the wines one at a time- describing each one in detail, even pointing out which were their favorites. The service was very personable, which is something I don't always get at other places that do wine tastings. The chocolates were melt in your mouth, with unique flavors, making it extra fun. I must note- getting the flights that we did was pricey, but I know, most wine tastings and fancy chocolates are going to be expensive. I also wish there was a little more chocolate in the flight. It was difficult to cut up and share. However, this was a wonderful experience that I'm happy to have tried once, and they deserve the 5 stars!

It feels like a community spot, the kind of place designed for people to hang out, meet others, study, or just do their own thing. I noticed they seem to offer memberships and different activities, which I'm definitely planning to check out next time. There are a variety of coffee and tea options and also some pastries. We got there about an hour before closing and looked like most of the pastries were sold out. The pastries I saw were by sea wolf, which is delicious bakery. I ordered a tea and it was piping hot. There's an area for sugars, however there are no milk carafes out. You have to ask the barista if you need milk. The tea blend was quite good. It looks like they rent out outdoor gear which adds to the vibe of this shop. I definitely go back
