    Avocado smoothie with pistachios

After a late play at the Civic Theatre, we were in search for some good food to wrap up the night. We found Maestro Lounge a few blocks away and so glad we did! It's a casual Mediterranean restaurant/hookah bar in the heart of downtown San Diego. They have comfortable lounge couches with tables to enjoy your food or hookah. A major plus is their late night hours (Fridays and Saturdays until 3am!). The food was really delicious and filling. The salad was fresh, the trio of dips flavorful, and the meat cooked to perfection. We got the combo for 2 people which came with a salad, rice, 3 skewers of meat, and different dips. We also got the potato appetizer which was delicious. The avocado smoothie was a nice treat especially with the pistachio on top. Our server was Sarah and she was fantastic! She has a warm and bubbly personality which made us feel welcome. She was kind enough to take some pictures of us and at the end, she even held the door open for us as we left! Definitely would return for some more late night meals!

The food was tasty, but the service was slow and 45 minute wait was a bit much. They could have bought the salad out while they were preparing the main course. The restaurant was clean. The music was loud and annoying. The lamb chops were cooked well done if that such a thing; let's say the crunchy kind.

The wife and kid were off doing tourist things while I had some work to do on the laptop so I went here solo for lunch. It was a gorgeous day so I sat outside and watched the street traffic go by. It's definitely not in the main tourist area but was close to our hotel and I knew this was my chance for some Middle Eastern food with the girls away. I had the gyro with fries and it was excellent. The meat was tender and there was not too much sauce. They included little pickles that I can never remember the name but they give a slightly sour taste that contrasts with the sweet sauce. The fries were excellent: crispy on outside, tender on inside. I thought the prices were reasonable. I am glad to see that this place has such good reviews. Based on my experience, the high rating is accurate.

This place was absolutely wonderful! We enjoyed sharing lots of delicious food, drinks, and heartfelt laughter. The Lemon Mint tea I tried was truly perfect--refreshing and flavorsome. We also shared the Maestro Family Meal for 4-5 people, which had generous and tasty portions. I genuinely recommend visiting this place. The Maestro Lounge provided us with excellent customer service, great quality, and cleanliness.

Came in after a late night out not expecting some of the best Mediterranean food in a hookah lounge!!! The pricing is great... $128 for 7 people!!! The service was fast to get seated (it was 1 am lol) but the hosts were so nice and gave us recommendations. The food was so tasty and big portion size. We got the plate for two people and it was definitely so worth!! Can't wait to come back

After a long night me and my bestie found Maestro Lounge! We ordered the chicken plate and toshka, ( the best chicken of my life) the freshest mint lemon juice, iced coffee, hookah and Kunafeh Cheese. Amazing! Can't wait to come back

I was excited to try this location since the one in Vegas is so great. I had a 6:30 reservation on Friday 6/25. We got there early and waited until they came and got us from the bar at 6:30. We were seated upstairs outside at a side table. There were a bunch of empty tables and I requested a better table and was denied and told that the table was reserved for another party. This seemed strange since when I made my reservation there was no place to request specific seating. So that left a bad taste in my mouth to start with. And the fact that the table stayed empty for an hour and a half after our dinner started led me to believe that i was lied too. Then there was a fluke incident where someone was flying a drone and it smashed into the side where we were sitting. Thank God we weren't hit with flying debris! To top things off, one of the servers spilled my friends drink on her when delivering our bread basket. So this is how our dinner started. A bunch of tiny disasters.. lol Anyway.. on to the food The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. I have no complaints about the food. Jose the server was our evenings saving grace. Of all of the SEVERAL servers that were working that night, Jose was a STAR!!! He deserves a promotion and a raise for pulling our dinner experience out of the crapper! Lol All and all I just think this location needs to work out the service kinks. The food and drinks are fine, but the service needs a bit of fine tuning.

Excellent food and friendly service for a to go order. I definitely will return and recommend. It's also very walkable to and from the Marriott hotel.

Here for desert and coffee! Service: fast and friendly! Ambiance: chill. No one makes middle eastern food as good as this restaurant!

Amazing hookah lounge!…read more Came here to relax and was seriously impressed. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish, perfect for hanging out with friends or unwinding after a long day. The staff were super friendly, knowledgeable, and helped us pick the perfect flavor mix -- it was smooth, flavorful, and lasted a long time without getting harsh. Drinks were great, music was on point, and everything felt clean and well-organized. You can tell they really care about quality and customer experience here. Definitely one of the best hookah spots I've been to -- will 100% come back and recommend to friends!

Great Caesar's ghost, Tabac Hookah Lounge is a revelation…read more I entered Tabac seeking a place to relax... and I emerged in a state of bliss normally reserved for people floating on clouds or winning Emmys. The hookah flavors were smooth, rich, and dangerously delicious--the kind of clouds that make you pause, nod approvingly, and say, "Yes. This was the correct life choice." Each pull was flavorful perfection, balanced and aromatic like a well-delivered evening news sign-off. And then--the gyro. Oh my. Thinly sliced, juicy, expertly seasoned, wrapped with the confidence of a dish that knows exactly who it is. One bite and I knew: this gyro did not come to play games. It came to dominate. Tabac somehow manages to be both laid-back and impressive, the rare lounge where you can unwind and eat like royalty. I reclined, I exhaled, I contemplated ordering another gyro simply to see if joy had a limit. Tabac, you've won my heart, my taste buds, and a solid chunk of my evening. Stay smoky, my friends.

Be…read moremindful because it can be ghetto so if you are looking for something bougie, this is not the place. There's often fights inside or near Myst. Giving it 3 stars because the bathrooms are DISGUSTING. There's only 2 unisex bathrooms and they are often clogged up. If it isn't clogged up, there's no toilet paper or it's just trashed. Sometimes the door lock is broken too and won't lock properly. They have been doing some renovations to their furniture but not the bathroom. It's so gross. The specialty drinks are really good. Especially when the bartender Chase is there. My favorite is the Pink Lagoon. It'll sneak up on you because it is made with tequila. It's like an alcoholic pink drink with the coconut cream, guava and pineapple. Pricy with drinks averaging $15-20 and they have an automatic 18% surcharge on weekends (that is not tip). Food is great. Some of the best wings downtown. The lamb chops are really good too. I wouldn't get the wagyu sliders. It wasn't good. It tasted like an average slider advertised to be fancier since it's "Wagyu". I've had better sliders elsewhere for much cheaper. Save your $30. Parking here is horrible because it's in the heart of gaslamp. Horton plaza parking is probably your best bet if you can't find street parking.

-- 10 STARS. PERIOD…read more Just pulled up to Pushkin Bar & Hookah Lounge in Gaslamp Downtown San Diego... and let me tell you -- this place hit me straight in the nostalgia and the luxury receptors at the same time. I first visited this spot 12+ years ago when I was living in the San Diego area. Back then it was basically the holy temple of traditional Russian & Ukrainian cuisine -- the one and only in downtown SD. Very authentic, very -approved. That cute fancy borsch was literally to die for. And yes... you happily paid big $$$ because authentic Russian grandma cuisine is not supposed to be cheap -- it's a cultural investment Fast forward to today -- I walk in and BOOM They transformed the whole concept into a super chill house hookah lounge + fancy executive bar vibe... yet somehow still managed to keep those legendary Russian gem dishes on the menu. That's what I call strategic evolution. And wait -- plot twist -- they added a full-scale sushi menu. From pelmeni to premium rolls... this place is now basically a geopolitical peace treaty on a plate. If you're Russian from the hood -- you simply MUST pull up. Order the $30 pelmeni dumplings (mandatory ritual). Top them with black caviar if you're feeling oligarch-level fancy -- I mean why not, live once What they've done here is honestly genius: They took old-school grandma recipes... put them in a luxury outfit... added hookah lounge energy... sprinkled executive bar aesthetics... and created a serious relaxation & dining destination. Perfect spot to unwind, talk business, vibe out, or just pretend you're important -- works every time. Huge respect and special thanks to Julia -- the host & bar boss. Top-tier service, warm energy, yet still operating in full professional boss mode. Love to see it. Also respect to the main boss himself -- and yes, go check his stand-up comedy next door. Let's be honest... he might actually be the only funny performer in the whole joint But hey -- quality over quantity. If you've never been -- you absolutely must go. Authenticity + reinvention + vibes = rare combo Amen

Fortunately, we didn't have to wait and were able to secure a table. They had an interesting hookah menu. We asked the server if they had paan flavored hookah and to our surprise they actually did. Paan is a traditionally popular hookah flavor and we couldn't wait to try it. We also ordered a couple of cocktails to go with it. The hookah arrived quickly. I liked how they provided disposable mouth pieces for each of us - very hygienic. The hookah itself was perfect. The flavor was right on and the hookah was smooth. We were very impressed. The cocktails were strong and tasty. The only downside was that water is expensive. With hookah, water is mandatory so it would be good if complimentary water could be provided so people don't have to think twice. But overall - great hookah, and great ambiance!

It was myself and two friends there 11/10/2023 and one friend had to use the restroom, we went to the restroom and security was being extremely inconsiderate of the circumstances. There was a line for the ladies, no line for the men's so we decided the men's stall was the best option, after just watching 2 women leaving the stall. As we were waiting, a security guard decided he needed to use the restroom, cool we let him go ahead. He came out of the stall and said we need to wait till he cleans it. We waited, then after awhile she just went ahead and used it. The guard at the door felt a way because she used it, decided he wanted to kick us out of your establishment. When she came out we went back to the section, they called backup so it was a female officer and about 2/3 others that came over hostile for absolutely no reason. I asked what the issue was, she used the restroom and we're good now why do we need to leave. She said she doesn't care and we need to get out. I told her we spent money on hookah and drinks and it was pointless to kick us out, the female officer started grabbing me and I told her that's not necessary, she started swinging on me so I defended myself. They all started pushing and shoving us all around the establishment to the front door, leaving my belongings. My other friend stepped in between trying to deescalate because again it was all unnecessary. Once outside, they continued to be hostile and very aggressive. My friend that had nothing to do with it asked to grab our belongings, they told him no only the white girl can come back in. She tried and they said we have to come back in the morning. I said absolutely not, we need our belongings now if you're kicking us out. They proceeded to deny us and we stayed outside until the main aggressor finally decided to bring our belongings out, I snatched my phone out of his hand and he decided to go out of his way to pepper spray my friend, threw her to the ground then made it a point to go around the whole group to pepper spray me. There was absolutely no reason or threat for him to feel the need to do that. I feel extremely disrespected, assaulted because of all of this. Especially after spending money in your establishment. These group of security guards should most definitely not be apart of your establishment. They're not good examples of good business and definitely push away loyal customers. Good luck to you guys, your establishment. We will be in touch.
