Our living room is not what is in style today, but it is more of an "Old English" style. Not easy to find someone who would help with just one small thing. I have a chair I liked, I looked to see where their chairs were sold, and called and asked for a recommendation. Luckily they gave me Jeff's name. I was apologetic for such a small job, but he happily accepted the challenge. He found several fabrics, and we quickly picked out a green plaid one. But since he was at our house, you know how this goes......I mentioned that I hated my dining room table. Jeff suggested that we get a table that would blend with our antique buffet. Expensive, so I dragged my feet. When the chair arrived, Jeff and I spoke again. I told him that the one thing that I regretted was not getting the table. He said as with everything else, prices were going up, and I might consider doing it sooner rather than later. Jeff came out once again to look at the finishes, so that we could pick a finish that blended best with what we already have. When the table arrived, we told Jeff that our shower was leaking and it was time to update......you can see where this is going. Not only did Jeff meet us twice at tile stores, but he found someone who would replace our shower for us. (Previously we had called about 6 different people, and no one would come out, they just wanted us to send pictures, and then we never heard from them again.) I haven't even mentioned the living room pillows for my couch that brighten up the room.....Jeff is a pleasure and easy to work with. He understood what I was looking for and was a great cheerleader when I got rid of my old clunky dining room set! And let's face it, I'm still thinking about the quail lamp that he showed me....we are very happy with everything that Jeff helped us with. Our house looks refreshed, and more updated.

A full search of Fresno resulted in repair rejection, seemingly based on detail required, monetary value of the piece or lack of necessary expertise. Then came Ryan and The Finishing Touch. Honest from the first call through the entire process about cost (likely more than the piece), time required (not a short period project) and expected result (likely close to original but no promises). So the broken ballerina and all her bits were brought over and Ryan undertook restoration. The piece was picked-up today and - wow. It is perfectly restored to its original beauty and amazingly so. Ryan actually pieced together every little chip, masterfully filling any gaps and matching even the paint to its original sentimental state. If you have any piece worth saving Ryan and The Finishing Touch is your destination. Any family memory is worth the price of restoring it. Ryan's and TFT's expertise is worth every reasonable charge as this is art and restoration at its finest.

The project was primarily an owner build, so between that and the pandemic it ended up being a multi-year project.  Over the course of planning and building we worked very closely with Cyndi - not only on the designs for our kitchen and bathrooms but for general design help throughout the house. Cyndi was absolutely wonderful to work with throughout the whole process. Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and helpful - she had an inordinate amount of patience (and tact!) in helping us navigate through the thousands of decisions that had to be made. She was adept at creating a cohesive design out of our rather ad hoc lists of likes and dislikes, and did so without imposing her own personal preferences or style. My husband and I also both appreciated that she was very pragmatic - she understood that we weren't interested in building a mansion and was very good about pointing out the areas where it made sense to spend and where it didn't. Her knowledge and contacts in the business were invaluable, both in terms of the quality of the workmanship we ended up with as well as access to resources that we would not have been able to find on our own. When it came time to order all our cabinets and countertops she handled every last detail, and made sure that what we ultimately received exactly matched her specifications. I was originally hesitant to hire a designer, both because of the additional cost and also because my husband and I are both fairly practical and were more interested in function over form. We have no regrets - engaging Cyndi to help us with the project was money that was very well spent. Not only did it prevent expensive mistakes, but we love the results. After living in the house for over a year I can honestly say that there isn't anything that she helped design that I would do differently if given the chance.
