However, given the current state of the world and every known trail shutting down due to overcrowding, now might be a good time to let everyone in on Jessamine County's best kept secret. According to the JCTA website, you can expect a "dirt trail with little elevation change through a wooded area. Old stone fences are visible. It has a couple of overlooks with winter views of the river." I don't understand exactly why this trail is NOT dog-friendly, but then again, I'm not an ecologist or a botanist. Approximately .8 miles will give you a decent workout considering the elevation changes, and it can get quite muddy given its dirt path construction. Unless it's winter, don't expect much of a view of the Palisades, but wildflowers are visible throughout in the fall. There are NO restroom facilities and view few parking spaces. Still, if you want to escape into nature and play explorer, this is a good place to do it.

This is not an ideal place for a serious boater. The ramp is narrow and often blocked by debris…read moreand is almost always blocked by golf carts during boating season so that putting a boat in or taking it out is almost impossible. The parking lot is so jammed around the ramp that it makes it highly difficult to access the ramp. The slips supposedly offer water and electric but the electric to ours did not work. Worse yet, we pulled our boat out for repairs and came back to find a barge owned by the marina parked in our slip and we could not put our boat back in. All of this in spite of paying nearly $2,000 for an annual slip fee. Did not get even a half a year use as our slip was taken after paying upfront. There was no notification by the marina that they were confiscating our slip or to ask us if we were returning. Just had to pull our boat home and leave it during a beautiful late summer and fall. Just a highly disappointing experience.

i love the environment. the games are fun. the first time i went in and didn't know what to expect…read more someone gave me a dollar so i could play a game of pool. the people there are very kind. they also have a training stick for pool. there are many options available, free and paid. free options include their selection of board games, giant connect four, corn hole, and the play axe throwing. the arcade games, air hockey, pool, and darts can all be done for a very low price. they also have a machine where you can pay to play any song you want to hear. for a higher price (but not too high), you can do the real axe throwing. i did not do this, but my friend did and he enjoyed it so much that he did it twice in the few hours we were there. bathrooms were also clean and the staff was nice and offering tips while playing games when we asked and it was extremely helpful. they do also have food and drinks, though i did not try this. i live very close to this place, so this will become one of my regular hangout spots.

If you stand on the stage and look out, the backdrop is the hilly mountains. So cool and really inspiring (especially if you were a theater kid!). We went up to a Indian lookout points, such a lovely view. We started heading West, which the sign did say was a difficult descent. But when we got to the cliff you had to climb down, the trail markers weren't totally clear, plus the sun was setting, so we decided to turn around and go to the Devil's Kitchen. It's amazing how difficult these trails are! We descended to multiple cliff formations with little caves to chill under. The scenery is 10/10. I just think the trail markers could be a tiny bit clearer. Highly suggest!

You can gain some extra mileage by visiting other overlooks on the mountain. I would say it's a moderate hike with some steep inclines and rocky areas to navigate. The trek up keeps me sweating. The view from the East Pinnacle is beautiful. Definitely the perfect spot to take in the beauty of nature. At the start of the trail head there is an area to grab a hiking stick. Be sure to pack plenty of water and wear appropriate shoes for hiking. Be safe on the edge of the rocks and make smart choices. It's beautiful but can be dangerous so use caution. @outdoorswithmandy

Another reviewer mentioned the directions taking you somewhere completely different. When using Google, it definitely took us to some "6 family neighborhood-Your type don't come 'round here often" place down the road before routing us back out to the highway and down to the parking area. I was actually surprised! There aren't many options in the area. There are light places to exercise in the area (Danville/Lexington) but nothing really like this that I've found. To your east, you have Red River Gorge. South - Cumberland and the rest of Daniel Boone. West - Mammoth Cave. So usually if you want any type of forest terrain, you have to travel. The parking is limited but there is a grassy area where I'm sure people with big trucks park. It was a Friday so we didn't have an issue finding a spot. The trail is okay. If you go counter clockwise, the trail does put some climb in front of you but it's nothing crazy. If you'd rather this trail be a little less strenuous, go clockwise. There are a few off shoot trails that take you out to overlooks. There's not a ton to see at those overlooks but you can watch traffic go by on the highway in the distance or overlook into the campground nearby. I'm not sure if I'd go out of my way to visit this trail but if you're in the area, definitely stop by and check it out. We did run into a deer, plenty of bugs and quite a few butterflies along the way. There was an orange-yellow butterfly that I tried to snap a picture of but he flew away. Fine... Mr. Butterfly!

The hiking is what I would consider to be moderate. Especially the lower palisades trail. The way we went, I felt like we climbed 100 stairs and went straight up. It would have been much easier to go down them. There are 3 trails that all link together. They are very well marked and the trails are well maintained. There are no facilities or picnic tables. We had a beautiful day and I would come back again.
