It prepared me well for college, but the Bible curriculum is outrageously useless and outdated, save for the senior teacher. Even still, the good education wasn't worth the hate I experienced there. Don't send your kids to Harding Academy.

She was in the optional program and her grades were great. Our daughter was struggling spiritually and socially. I started picking her up with my windows down, and to hear the language that these 6th, 7th, and 8th graders were openly using was an eye-opener. The bullying in the hallways, the kids taking stuff out of her lunchbox, and the ridicule for just being a Christian became too much. We needed to make a change. ECS was where the Lord led us, and I am so glad that we stepped out in faith and enrolled her. The teachers are all so caring - I mean GENUINELY caring. The campus is beautiful, the cafeteria food is top notch, and the academics side of it was challenging. Every morning after I dropped her off, I would find myself thanking God that she was there and for providing for us financially to keep her there. If you are thinking of enrolling your child in a private Christian school, I urge you to take a tour and see for yourself! I will forever be grateful to the education and care that our daughter received at ECS.

Students here are raised using classroom reporting and speech giving for public performance. Seniors at the high school must complete a thesis defense as graduation requirement. School plays are well rehearsed and colorfully performed, from the jk circus play to the second grade insect play.

Here are what I know some alumni are doing from that time period: One class of 1996 alumnus went to Princeton University, where he was president of the student government. One class of 1997 alumnus was the ACC freshman of the year in men's basketball. A class of 1997 alumna became an actress and model in Hollywood, and is engaged to producer and actor Seth Green (of Robot Chicken and Austin Powers fame). One class of 1997 alumnus was the National Spelling Bee champion. One class of 2002 alumnus is one of the two founding members of the band MGMT. Over Labor Day weekend of 2009, I went to my high school reunion. Here is what has happened to some of my colleagues from my class: Two graduated from Harvard Law School, one of whom is joining the Stanford University Law School clinical faculty. One friend completed a PhD in computer science, and is now an assistant professor of computer science at Brown University. One friend did a PhD in computer science, and now works for Disney Animation. (He was in the credits of The Princess and the Frog). A large number of my other friends got PhDs, MDs, JDs and several other degrees. As for my own White Station experience, there is a lot to say. It is the school where I have made my best lifelong friends and molded me more than any other school into making me the person I am today. Even the relatively recent graduates are really smart. Since 2005, I have interviewed tens of high school seniors from Memphis, Berkeley, and the San Francisco area for University of Pennsylvania undergraduate admissions. The smartest kid I ever interviewed was from White Station High School.
