The BEST, most welcoming, family friendly school in Memphis - the heart of Midtown. This school is…read moreabsolutely wonderful - Our child has thrived at GSL's warm and nurturing culture. I am also an alumnae, and am SO proud to be. The friendships and families I've made at GSL are lifelong. GSL rocks, truly. While we've been at GSL forever, the (new) Headmaster and Teachers are THE BEST. Truly the best environment for kids - great art, sports and music fully integrated as well. Once you come take a tour or visit, you'll understand!

The…read moreheadmaster did absolutely nothing to help my son but they definitely want him to play football but didn't think he was important enough to protect from his bullies. BTW, his bullies parents were large donors. The only diversity at this school is the football team. Only the 8th grade team. Because there aren't enough students from the school to make a team, they BORROW BLACK BOYS from Binghamton to play for them. But check the yearbook! How many of these black boys are actually ALLOWED to attend this "white privileged" school. Let me answer that for you. "NONE"!!!! Please be aware of this school's criminal lack of diversity and how distant and non inclusive the minorities are treated from the students, teachers and especially the majority parents. It is easy to speak with wonderful views when you are a part of the majority and treated beautifully. But, WHAT ABOUT THE MINORITIES? Who will speak for them?? WILL YOU, THE MAJORITY GROUP steeped with your "RICH history" (code word= racism) and exclusive community???? Very rarely are the minorities invited to your dinner parties, neighborhood parties, kids Birthday parties, play dates, and let's not forget definitely NOT THE SLEEPOVERS!!! TOTAL EXCLUSION!!! Go on I'm waiting for just ONE brave person from the majority to speak to and for the minorities at this school about their SO CALLED WONDERFUL TREATMENT AND EXPERIENCE!!! ANXIOUSLY WAITING!

We are utterly floored by our experience here and of what we witnessed and were subjected to. The…read morebizarre behavior, irrationality and attempts at intimidation were unconscionable. I will not air our bad experience here, but welcome - and have been responding to - any private messages. No false or embellished statements in an attempt to defame the establishment will be made. Only facts as they occurred will be shared. Most of this is in writing from the director herself, whose conduct was aggressive and downright maniacal. Since my initial review, I have been contacted by others who had similar experiences. Negative reviews in the past were met with harassment until they finally gave up and took them down. I suspect this is the reason that there is only one 1-star review on facebook and no reviews on yelp other than my own at the time of my review. But this is pure speculation. As a result of the director's actions, I feel the need to note: Any attempt at coercion, harassment, intimidation through any form of contact in attempt to have me remove or alter my review as well as attempts at "black listing" with other establishments will not be tolerated and will be met with legal proceedings as well as additional reporting to, but not limited to, the Better Business Bureau and the TN DHS, Child Care Licensing Board. Feel free to contact me directly for specifics about my experience and thank you for those of you who have contacted me with your experiences as well as those interested in our ordeal. I am still in shock from the handling and bullying involved. I simply would NOT recommend this facility and we are very fortunate to be going elsewhere.

If I could rate this school with no stars I would. My daughter has been here for three years, and…read moreit has completely gone downhill since her first two years. The current principal isn't on her job well. My non violent daughter, who doesn't know how to fight because she isn't being raised to be a stereotype, was hit in the head several times by a classmate 2 times her size. This happened a day before the ice storm. When the children went back to school I had it in my mind to address the bullying situation, because I need my daughter safe. Especially, since my daughter said that she was afraid of the girl that hit her. They did absolutely nothing to reprimand this student whatsoever. My husband and I went to the principal almost everyday for well over a month. She kept saying that she doesn't know much about it. Although, she's had alot of time to familiarize herself with what had happened. So what does that mean? That she couldn't care less, right? There was no incident report made, and there was supposed to be one. The assistant principal, who handles the disciplinary situations, told the counselor to tell me that they cannot move this child out of the class due to tcap being around the corner. They dropped the ball on this incident big time. I was told that they have a policy that they can never tell the parents what disciplinary action was taken concerning the assault of their child. I can't even explain how upset I was, and to be honest I still get upset at their failures. They failed my daughter, and they failed my husband and I as her parents. Another thing is the familiarity and lack of professionalism that some of the teachers have with parents, as well as the principal, and the assistant principal that I mentioned above, are just downright ridiculous. If you want your child protected for all eight hours, if want your child to be treated with concern and cared for during school hours, if you want professionalism from the staff, if you want your child to receive a quality education, if you want legal incident reports to be filed , and you want a copy of the incident report then don't send your precious child here because this isn't where it's at. (I've been wavering back and forth on whether I should do this because I didn't want to down talk my people. However, all skin folk ain't kinfolk, and did they place that same care and respect towards my child? No, they didn't. So parents need to know what they are getting themselves into. Let's not even talk about the backlash you will receive, and the mistreatment if you advocate for your child; as any good parent should do, amd I mean even the office staff. So no privacy, but gossip about parents...check. Yes, i've called the board, and even the lady said," If they reported the incident." What does that say right there? Alot in my opinion.
