He did a very in-depth physical examination with a ton of documented notes (mostly high tech Ortho speak). Then a series of photographs of the teeth and then digital x-ray series. The office decor is very cool with a upmarket studio feel. The staff are very customer service centered, polite and professional. They even have great WIFI and tablets to while away the time if needed. The explanation for the braces, to correct my daughter's teeth, was thorough and not full of technical jargon. The kicker was when we got to the finances. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost for a 20 month program. I would highly recommend that you call and make an appointment soon if you have need of a great Orthodontist who is detail oriented.

My Daughter has been seeing Dr. Luu for 21 month's now…read more When I was looking for an ortho I was looking for someone with good reviews and close by. Dr. Mah was close by and so was First Impression. Didn't end up booking with Dr. Mah as they charge for a consult whereas First Impression is free! Yah.... I'm cheap (or should I say wise with my money)! But really, waive the $75, spend an hour of your time and show people your work and you are highly likely to land a $6-8k client! Booked an appointment with First Impression. When you walk into the office you are impressed at how new, clean and bright it is! The office is also lined by gorgeous photos...all taken by Dr. Luu himself! The kids are impressed there is an electronics area with various electronic devices. There is free wifi, a station for coffee and hot chocolate. I even laughed as they recently added a card stand with lots of different handmade cards (all really nice and professional looking may I add) all made by Dr. Luu's wife. It's a one stop shop! Anyhow, back to the review.... The staff are all super nice, friendly, knowledgable and service oriented. I'd have to rate it in the top 5% for service I have ever encountered, it's just that good! Our paediatric dentist's practice is partnered with an orthodontic arm so she doesn't necessarily deal with a lot of outside orthodontists. But she has mentioned to me that she is really impressed by Dr. Luu as he has sent her a few detailed letters (copy was sent to me too) telling her that it would be a good idea to bring my daughter in for a cleaning because her oral hygiene was not up to standards. The first times was maybe 4-5 months into the treatment and another time was a few months after that. After the second letter I showed my daughter the letter and told her she needed to step it up!!!! Glad to report she finally got that she needed to do a better job! I love that they switched over to an electronic appointment reminder so I get an email a week before my daughter's appointment. You confirm on the email that you can make the appointment. if you can't you just email them or call them to change. It's very efficient! It's easy to get/change an appointment since they are open wed-sat for the most part (sometimes the days change as he has an office in Whitehorse that he visits a few times a month). If I have to add a con to my review because not everything can be 100% perfect. I have had my daughter tell me she needed more elastics or a wire was bugging her AFTER the office closes on Sat, so you do have to wait until Wed which can be inconvenient, but nothing to move it below a 5 star review as hey, medical professionals need some family time too! Oh and btw, I did book one other consult with a highly rated place in Vancouver just to get a second quote. Walked in and it was an old drabby office. The orthodontist and staff weren't nearly as friendly/personable and their quote was over $1000 more than First Impression. So of course I walked out and ended up booking with First Impression.... and I'm glad I did! Anytime anyone is looking for an orthodontist in Burnaby, of course I have to refer Dr. Luu and his awesome staff! Btw, there aren't a ton of yelp reviews but check out the numerous reviews on google if you still have to think about it!! https://g.co/kgs/EjZ3uY

I came here for the original consult in August and felt that Dr. Jin Huh was really professional. I was a little nervous because he was very firm when he was checking my teeth but I realized I'd rather have someone with steady hands that is confident with what they're doing than for him to be gentle and flaky. They gave me a quote for the 5 teeth, and then sent a request for approval to my insurer. I opted out of the IV sedation and figured I should be able to tolerate the anxiety on my own. The appointment lasted about 45 minutes, I'm still in the process of healing now, Dr Jin Huh is friendly and you can tell that he knows what he's doing. Prices were reasonable for the extractions that I had done, and the receptionist did her due diligence to check with my insurance company on how payment should be taken (assignment) before I went in for the extractions. All in all I had a great experience (I mean as great as it can be to have 5 teeth removed in one go!) and the office is pretty relaxing. Soft slow music that would put you to sleep if your mouth wasn't wide open and frozen haha and there's cool action figures all over the office. I would recommend Dr. Jin Huh to people who have out of the ordinary extractions or anxiety about dental work!

She said sarcastically. "She's just being sarcastic, she didn't mean it!" The technician chimed in. Somehow, the technician convinced me to stay, and told me to put a plastic tab in my mouth. The tech said it wasn't a big deal and that the fillings would be painless. Suddenly, there was a drill in my mouth. No one explained anything to me, and I was unaware that there would be any drilling involved. I stopped her and said I did not trust her at all to work on my teeth. It very clear that Dr. Chan is not in it for the money, in fact he loves his work and would never prescribe unnecessary treatment just to generate profits. His wife, Dr. Trinh, does the Orthodontic work and her prices are unbeatable. Being a single mother with a teenager that needs orthodontic work, she gave me an incredible rate that was affordable for me. Also, she does not recommend treatment just to collect more money from you and her philosophy is to let nature do its work to see if problems can self-correct, and intervene at a timely manner when absolutely necessary. I feel so at home at this clinic, and love how they take their time to explain everything and follow up with phone calls after treatments to see if you have any further concerns. We brought in our 5 year-old son for a consultation to fix his 8 cavities (yes, we're not good…read morebrushers/flossers) after his general dentist said that he's not experienced enough with young kids. We brought in X-rays, and Dr. Chander maybe spent a minute with us telling what he would do - fix all either with laughing gas or send us to another specialist to fix all at one time under general anesthetic and then he left. We then spent the next 10 minutes talking to the manager about payment options. When I questioned why we couldn't ask for a treatment plan without laughing gas or general anesthetic, the answer I got was, "well, the doctor probably thought he's uncooperative". Since we were uncomfortable with the treatment plan offered, we consulted yet another dentist, and there, the dentist spent 10-15 minutes during the consultation meeting check each tooth over and also testing our son's patience in the chair, needless to say, we went to this dentist to fix his teeth. I have no problems with dental practices needing to make money (especially if they have a fancy waiting room and staff that don't hate you when you walk in). I can also rationalize exceptionally good dentists charging above what is recommended by the provincial dental pay scale (they also will demand the difference between what your insurance pays and what they charge even for a consultation), but what I have a problem with is when a PEDIATRIC dental practice has no desire to determine a child's comfort level in the chair BEFORE recommending a treatment plan. Our son has seen quite a few doctors and specialists and has had a few exams with various machines, and the conclusion after all these exams is how calm he is - in fact, where he got his teeth fixed, he was even used as the example by the parent of a screaming child of how to behave at a dentist's office. Boy, this has turned into a very long review, but we saw the positive reviews from other patients and thought we might be able to get the same - a meaningful consultation with a pediatric dental specialist that would know how to deal with children without having to resort to rendering them dazed and confused. We didn't get that, and in fact, the only thing we did get was a bad taste in our mouths.
