I was coming in from out of town for my daughter's wedding and I didn't know what to expect. EVERYONE was so friendly and eager to make me look beautiful! My makeup and hair exceeded any expectations I might have had walking in! Laura, the owner, went above and beyond to make sure I looked my very best. I brought my wedding outfit to change into, along with a portable steamer. When I mentioned that I was going to use the steamer on my skirt, she insisted on doing it for me. She didn't want my hair and makeup to be affected by the steam. When it looked like my husband was lost and wouldn't be able to pick me up in time for family wedding photos at the Nixon Library (just down the street), Laura insisted on driving me there herself. She got me there in time. Crisis averted. I really can't say enough about the GREAT staff, services, Laura, and my wonderful experience. It was AMAZING!!! I booked a haircut appointment for my daughter before school starts. We'd never been to a curly…read morehair salon before, so neither of us came in with a very specific expectation for the cut. I knew some length needed to come off because the bottom layer had become stretched out from the weight and length of her hair and no longer matched the rest of her curl pattern. I tried my best to have her hair completely dry before the appointment. It was still damp, mostly at the roots, but I'd estimate about 90% of her hair was dry. The stylist explained that because of the water weight, she wouldn't be able to do a full curly cut and could only trim her hair. I asked to rebook, but this was unfortunately my only available day to get her hair done before school started, so rescheduling wasn't really practical. A manager stepped in and looked at her hair to see what could be done that day, which I genuinely appreciated. We ultimately agreed to take about three inches off the longer bottom layer so it better matched the rest of her hair. The actual haircut took about 15 minutes, and the total was $75. This is where I was disappointed. I understand that I wasn't able to receive the full service because her hair wasn't completely dry, but $75 for a 15-minute trim with no layering or shaping felt very disproportionate to the service we received. I appreciate the manager trying to find a solution rather than simply turning us away, but ultimately I wish I had declined and taken her somewhere else. I now still need to have her hair properly shaped, so unfortunately I'll be paying for another haircut after school starts.

I noticed she had availability later that same day, so I was able to schedule an appointment for 1:45 p.m. Even though I was worried I had waited too long to book and wasn't giving her much notice, she promptly confirmed my appointment and reassured me to still come in. I wanted a fresh cut of 3-4 inches off which we talked about at length, she even showed me where she was making her first cut and I approved. Then I noticed she kept hacking away big pieces and protested but she kept going saying she was only texturing and blending. Then when I told her it was getting too short she only shook her head and said wait in you see the back. My hair was past my breasts, I wanted 3-4 inches off. I don't think I was speaking in code!!! So why did she think it was ok to take off 8-9inches of my painfully slow growing hair?!?!?! She knew I was upset, she told me the price and I gave her 2 bills AND THEN SHE GAVE ME NO CHANGE AND TOOK IT UPON HERSELF TO KEEP THE REST AS A TIP!!! WTF?!?!?! I was too upset to protest and left in a hurry, she text me afterwards sorry it's so short if you come I'll give you a discount on another treatment. Pffffttt!!! As if I'd EVER go back.
