In 12 South, the Filling Station is a small little cottage on a side street (right behind Edly's BBQ. There are a few garden tables in front for outdoor seating and 3 or 4 inside. The inside has a bit of a small family-owned bookstore with the beertender standing behind a counter in the back. List is on the wall behind you, written in chalk so it can easily be updated. He blew two kegs while we were there last time and ended up putting on a beautiful hazy IPA from Xul. Beer is divided into styles and is well curated. There is no food, but I can see grabbing a bite at Edly's before and possibly bringing some over to enjoy with your brew. The Filling Station also has a selection of beers for purchase, but I would be more inclined to go over to Craft Brewed on South 8th if you want a better selection.

Small, but mighty spot to pick up all the goods for a chill evening or wild party, and everything in between. We popped by to scoop up a decent bottle of wine for a gift and were in and out within a few moments. As mentioned, the space is small, but well laid out and well stocked. Service was solid and friendly as well. We were greeted, helped while wondering around and at the register, and wished a good day upon leaving. There are dedicated spots up front, but when those fill up, which they do quickly, there is a pay lot mere feet away. Overall, solid liquor store in convenient location. When in the area and the need arises, will definitely stop in.

It's also a place I've walked in and asked "where's your cheap-ass mixing Sake at?" and gotten walked to a selection of cheap ass mixing sakes, which were near the less than cheap ass sakes. Prices are a little higher than the Froog, they're not warehouse sized so I'm guessing that's the issue as opposed to just wanting to charge more. Parking is in the Kroger parking lot, here we begin our negatives: This parking lot is not controlled by TLC, Kroger, anyone renting space. It's part of the Willowbrook Commons shopping center. The owners of this have it patrolled every now and then. It's become known as the Murder Kroger parking lot in the neighborhood after one murder and several shot up cars. While these were outliers, the parking lot is not safe and won't be until they get full time patrols for a few months to discourage this being the parking lot for illicit activities and several people claiming to be homeless or stranded (most of them work the area on a regular basis). As such I generally suggest you limit your unarmed or unarmored visits to the daylight hours until the center gets its security act together.

The ambiance of this venue is impressive at first glance, but unfortunately the overall experience…read morefell far short of expectations. The restroom facilities were poorly maintained. One stall had a broken lock, while another was completely out of toilet paper. We attended a comedy show and waited approximately 15 minutes before being acknowledged by the bar staff. When I approached one bartender to order a glass of wine, I was told that because I was attending the comedy show, I should use the bar located in that area instead. I was then informed that if I wanted food, I would need to return to the other side of the venue to place that order. As a paying customer, I found this interaction unnecessarily dismissive and unhelpful. My destination within the establishment should not determine whether a staff member is willing to serve me. The service throughout the evening was disappointing. The bartenders appeared overwhelmed, unfriendly, and unwilling to provide basic customer service. While the venue itself has great potential, the lack of professionalism and customer care left a very negative impression. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I do not plan to return.
