The store is not the same since Ernie left. Then, I was always greeted by a smiling good day. This was not the case the other morning when I popped in for a pint. The attitude verged on being surly. And their prices; it seems that they are catering to the tourists that don't have a clue as to what is available. Horribly overpriced. Charged my daughter $134 for a bottle of eagle rare!. I've never seen it over $75. She wanted to surprise her dad with a couple of bottles (we can't get up north but could have shipped it for cheaper) by the time she realized how much she spent it was too late. wish she read reviews before she went there. Unless you are an American white male they will not sell to you. My husband called to check if several items were in stock and the man said yes. I really wasn't searching for a wine shop, but I was happy have found one. I was the DD for the day, taking my husband on a brewery tour and someone recommended Hops and Crafts Taproom. I found a metered parking spot right out front. Then I was happy to find this gem right next door. This place is apparently new and sure to catch on soon. I was immediately greeted by a nice gentleman who showed me right to the Napa Valley recommendation. They weren't all in the same spot, but he knew right where his recommendations were. He asked about my blend preference and explained why he would recommend one over the other. You're probably thinking that such a place to have such awesome customer service would charge at least $50 per bottle of wine, right? No. The wine that he recommended was around $15! So, I got two. Don't get me wrong, they carry $50+ bottles of wines, but I was specific about what I was looking for. It looks to be exclusively a wine shop at first glance, I spotted cigars and craft beer, so naturally my husband made his way over after his taproom visit. He got a cigar for around $6 and a fifth of IPL. I'd never heard of IPL... now I have. read more

Such a friendly and welcoming shop! My BFF was on the hunt for a specific beer she'd had elsewhere in Tennessee, so we walked over after having breakfast in the shopping center nearby. The presumable owner greeted us right away and was helpful in pointing us to the Blackberry Farm variety he had on hand, conveniently in cans instead of their fancier large format bottles. She wasn't able to find the specific brew she wanted, but grabbed the one they had to give it a whirl. I come from the land of beer, so the variety felt a bit limited, but the service and knowledge were top-notch. I'm always partial to great liquor stores and 12th and Pine is a new standout. Run by a guy who knows this town as well as he knows wine and spirits, this place should be any downtown dwellers go to. While small by any standard, 12th and Pine still manages to have a solid selection of what i care most about - bourbon. I'm sure their wine and gin selection is great as well (Ed Fryer is supposed to be some uber wine maven), but i was impressed at what a nice selection of nice bourbons the shelves were stocked with. Just as good, the process were quite nice. If you're in the area, stop by and say hi to Ed - you'll be glad you did. read more

Wow. This place is amazing. I walked in today, and felt so at home. Ernie runs the shop, and he is a kind soul. I was able to ask questions and seek recommendations without fear! Considering I am not even close to knowledgeable on wines and spirits, I was glad to be treated so well. Ernie recommended many amazing wines in my price range, and though I didn't think I would, I left with a white wine that separates every four rows of grapes with oranges. Wow! It's a mimosa ready to go, essentially! Had it with breakfast, but Ernie also recommended it with dark chocolate. Life complete. I don't see why I would avoid being a regular customer here. The selection is fantastic, with a price range to fit most any need, but you can bet the quality of wines and spirits is amazing. You don't feel like this is just a typical run for a bottle of wine; it's an experience that, quite honestly, made my day so much better. Very rude. Looked threw the selection and then when I went to pay and he was really nice up until I pulled my change purse out of my bra and took my money out of my change purse and he refused to take my 40$ because he has a " strict policy of not taking money out of underwear" were his exact words. I was taken back a little, so I took my credit card out and he still refused to take my money, because I had already "disgusted him enough" very very very rude man. I think his new is Terry. The Boston beer scene is pretty stellar, but even I was impressed with a few rarities I found here at 12th and Pine in Nashville including a couple imperial stouts from Prairie (including BOMB!) and Lagunitas' High West-ified Imperial Coffee Stout. To top it off, Terry was incredibly welcoming and friendly. We chatted for some time and he even sent me a list of recommendations in the Nashville area for the remainder of my vacation. This was the best liquor store I have ever been in. We were doing the pedal tavern which is BYOB and had limited time to get all the alcohol/drinks people wanted. Thankfully, we walked in and the owner was super helpful. He showed us all our options (all of us like different things) and was very patient with us as the indecisiveness was in full force. They had lots of cool ciders, spritzers, and beer options and even mini champagne bottles (as we were celebrating my birthday). They also had hangover shots that I have yet to take, and secretly hoping I never need to take (but still cool that they had it). We spent about 20 minutes in there trying to decide between all our options and ended up walking out as very satisfied customers that fully enjoyed our pedal tavern BYOB. read more
