First of many times I will be visiting this lounge. It's a very laid back lounge with a home-like feel. I love all the nooks and cranny rooms they have. I enjoy their happy hour specials. Great value with the buy one get one beer! The decor is really cool such as old Jesus paintings along with a plethora of art. I went to use the restroom and saw another room that I liked and had to move all my stuff over to that room. The staff is very knowledgeable and inviting. I am a complete idiot as I never new that this place was available to me after living here since 2007 (East Nashville). I popped in to grab a couple of cigars and got excellent welcome and service from the person working. Great vibe and awesome atmosphere that made me reluctant to leave. What a find! If you enjoy local or small batch cigars and/or local beers - this is your place. I was introduced to a mild cigar with a smooth draw paired with a Nashville Pilsner. Both complimented each other really well. The atmosphere was very casual and relaxed. The chairs were very comfortable, with 3 / 4 distinct sitting areas and a bar area where you can chat with the employees. The service was exceptional. We learned about the area and the transformation that is going on. We learned about the cigar and beer scenes. What really amazed me was the air handling. They and several air handlers / smoke eaters that removed the smoke immediately. It was nice that you one did not smell like an ashtray :). I look forward to coming to Nashville. Went to Smokers Abbey today and I was HIGHLY disappointed. I asked if they had Romeo and Julieta cigars and I was told "We are more of a boutique......." So I said OK, do you have Opus X??? The shorter gentlemen with an English accent said "No..." and nothing else. He didn't try to sell me anything or make a suggestion, just "No..." I was Really Uncomfortable. I was filled with angst when my husband arranged a group outing at Smokers' Abbey in East Nashville. We were total novices, so we took the Cigars 101 course. Even though cigar smoking is not my thing, this experience was great, and I'd highly recommend it. The Abbey was located in an unassuming strip mall near the popular Five Points. The atmosphere was dive bar-esque with two smallish rooms packed with well-worn leather furniture and garrulous patrons. I think every single person, staff and customer alike, smiled and said hello. Old family photos and religious scenes decorated the wall in a quirky, eclectic, cool way. Their third room is a walk-in humidor holding 300 types of cigars. Prices generally ranged from $8-15. They also had a wall of various pipe tobaccos. Not being a smoker, the highlight for my husband was their rotating tap of about 8 excellent craft beers. They had various happy hour deals, a poker night, and a shower in their bathroom. Just in case I guess? We paid $40 each for Cigars 101, somewhat discounted because the concept was in the early phase. This was a great value as it came with two cigars and two drinks which basically would cost $40 anyway. Our host was The Reverend Joshua Stump, part-owner and legitimate preacher. We lit up together in the back room, and for the next two hours we thoroughly discussed cigar selection, manufacture, and culture. He answered all of our random questions expertly, prognosticated about Nicaraguan politics, and even waxed philosophical by the end. Ultimately it was a fantastic experience that I would recommend even for non-smokers who have an interest. read more

After eating at five stops along my Nashville BBQ tour, I needed to digest and relax for a bit. I found the Smokers Abbey to be the only acceptable cigar lounge in the area. As soon as I walked in, I felt comfortable. The decor is very many with wooden accents, stuffed animals (taxidermy, not baby toys), and comfortable couches and chairs. When I walked into the humidor, I barely recognized any cigars. Granted, I'm spoiled in NY with Opus, Anejo, VSG, Padron, etc. whenever I want them, but this didn't look promising. I put my biases aside, and asked the guy working, who I later found out is one of the owners, for help. He explained that they special in boutique cigars and recommended a few cigars based on my preferences. After smoking a Satori by Viaje, I was pleased with his recommendations. First time visitor to the Gallatin location and I was impressed by how well the ventilation system controls the smoke. I had some orange wheat craft beer and it was excellent!! I also had a St Claire toro cigar. ( spelling may be incorrect) It is a cigar made only for the Abbey and it is a great cigar! just the right amount of spice, unusual flavor that was very welcoming. Excellent burn and draw. that will be my go to smoke every time I go there. it was a great experience and I highly recommend going there! The manager was very attentive and provided a lot of history on the location as it used to be a bank! The vault is one of two large humidors that they have. I came in last night to the shop just to browse & know what they are offering for the east Nashville crowd. I moved to Chicago from Nashville in 2010 & visit Nashville every 3 months. So I wanted to simply meet the fellow brothers of the leaf & explore their B&M. Impressions: 1. The gentlemen that walked me to the humidor was super nice. Personal & friendly. Asked questions about my favorite brands & such. Informed me more about the shop & future events. 2. Selection is ok. Your regular CAO, Gurkhas, & Flavored cigars. There are other brands, but nothing that pops out. They are still growing & have only been open for a month or so. So I didn't expect the selection to be great. It's fair at the moment & I'm sure it will get better over time as they get approved by cigar companies. 3. This is why the 3 stars review. The humidor is not well sealed to avoid outside smoke. It smelled like a lounge. We were in there for 10 minutes & when we walked out we were drenched in smoke. This should not happen. The inside of a humidor should always smell fresh tobacco. Either both doors are not sealed properly or there is a major leak somewhere. Conclusion: Great people, ok selection at the moment & need to find a solution to prevent outside smoke from leaking into the humidor space. Happy Herfing. read more

I am still a "newbie" when it comes to cigars. I have only been smoking somewhat regularly for a year. I would have to say one of the best things about this shop is the customer service and friendly atmosphere. Most cigar shops I have gone into the owners/employees tend to leave you to yourself and don't bother saying much until you are at the counter, ready to purchase something. That is not the case with this shop. They are quite happy to help you with any questions you may have and seem to be aware of new customers that come in and try to help them any way they can. (I have noticed this from hanging out there and watching their interactions with people as they come into the store) The decor of the shop is also quite pleasing. Great vibe and is usually filled with friendly customers who you can easily strike up a conversation with. As for the other review stating the humidor is smoking, I don't seem to agree at all. I was there during there first week opening and I have to admit there was a bit too much smoke going around but I would assume that they took care of that quickly because there definitely isn't any noticeable problems in the humidor or lounge areas. They have great selections and always seem to be getting in new products as well as hosting a slew of events. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great local cigar shop. Whether a seasoned tobacconist or a first timer who just needs to learn the ropes. I've been in this shop twice and both times have received excellent service. They are happy to give helpful suggestions but are not pushy. The atmosphere is nice if you want to hang around to smoke your cigar or pipe. I think they have a big screen tv to view sports games. Their selection is not huge but seems more than adequate. If they had a pool table and were able to serve whiskey or high gravity beer, I would give them a five star. read more
