Compared to some of the spots we have here in NJ/NY this place wouldn't even hold up in terms of portions and price. So with that disclaimer I'd like to say this cafe is cute and nice spot along the quay with enough street parking spots. In terms of taste the sambar isn't so fresh but their coconut chutney was amazing!!! The dosa wasn't as crispy or as large as I'd like but i guess not bad. Their samosa chat was very yummy - would certainly recommend that! Overall if you're vegetarian craving a hot meal or just someone looking to try new cuisines this spot is certainly for you.

We ordered inside and waited only 10 or so minutes for the order. With COVID there is no inside seating, so we took it away with us. The meat samosa and the veggie samosa were yummy. The tandoori meats were brilliantly seasoned. The sausage was so good and I don't even know what it was. You have to give them a try. The prices are super reasonable, and they feature some lunch specials that sound perfect for an afternoon.

My family and I visited this elegant Indian restaurant in the heart of Cork city over the Christmas break. For starters, we ordered an Assorted Indian snacks. This was scrumptious to say the least. In the mains, we got a Chicken Biryani, two Bombay Aloo's, a garlic naan, and a cheese & onion naan. Since my partner and I are vegetarian, we chose the Bombay Aloo. This was one of several vegetarian options they had on their menu. We quite liked that they had vegan options as well. The food and service were impeccable. Being of an Indian background, I must say that the quality of their food and the balance of their spices was quite remarkable.

We were in the mood for some kebabs and found Istanbul and stopped in on a Sunday at around 9 PM. We had the doner kebab, and some kind of platter that had chicken, beef, and lamb. Cork is a place you DEFINITELY need reservations for dinner - it's very busy, and popular restaurants like Orso do fill up very quickly. It was bustling even at 6:30PM, and was great to see a busy and thriving restaurant. Though she was literally the only server for the entire restaurant this evening, she never made us feel rushed and was always patient with every group that came. This is a relatively small space with only about 6 tables inside. There was a large group sitting outside, they probably put together 2 or 3 tables. It's a relaxed place with some beautifully framed artwork on the wall. The menu provides a wonderful selection of Middle Eastern food. We didn't choose any drinks other than the water that was offered. My wife and I shared the Grilled Halloumi salad to start. The salad was delicious and the halloumi was superb. For the entree we both chose the fish of the day, a grilled sea bream with some sort of slaw. The fish was fantastic, prepared perfectly. It had wonderful flavors in addition to the excellent taste and texture of the fish. We ordered a side of sweet pea hummus with pita, which was absolutely delicious. We succumbed to ordering dessert because they too sounded so good. What made them totally special was that birth the Pear Tartin and Mahalabia were flavorful, not too sweet, and we didn't feel stuffed after enjoying them to complete our meal. The fresh mint tea that accompanied dessert was delicious.

The noodles were a bit overcooked in my opinion. The counters were quite sticky and needed to be wiped down. There were also discarded dishes from previous patrons that hadn't been cleared. We were the only customers when we arrived and for the ~35 minutes we were there, so it wasn't like they were busy. Aside from the counter area, there is another adjacent room with a couch and table seating. That was cute! Overall, the cost and portion sizes were good, but it was just okay in terms of flavor. Cleanliness definitely needs to be improved.
