Everyone I've ever met at this company has been so sweet and helpful. They really want everyone to have a good time and enjoy painting. They also provide everything you'll need to paint like the canvas, paint, apron and etc. Half way through the painting you get a break we're they provide a snack table with cheeses, fruits and wine for adults. This is a fun activity to do with friends and family. When I went with my friends & family we just joined an open class but you can actually schedule private sessions too for things like bridal parties, get togethers with friends or with a group of couples. Our class was comprised of several families and groups of friends and co-workers taking this class. An instructor shows painters what brush and paint to use one step at a time. Brushes to be used and paint colors are predetermined for the paintings chosen by the instructor. They show how to draw and paint parts of the painting one step at a time. The younger of the two instructors is a bit slower and easier to talk to and understand when she speaks with her back turned to the class. Lots of fun for friends and family, can be pricey for large groups. $120 for a family of four.

Everyone had fun. The instructor was easily available for questions and advise. Our mugs turned out perfect. I wish I could post a picture. We visited to try out the Splatter Studio, which is pretty much what it sounds like: it's a studio that you can visit to make splatter paintings. We got outfitted with goggles, aprons and other protective gear, then headed into a room with lots of neon paint and a few blank canvases. The lights were turned off, the music was turned on, and were allowed to splatter and throw paint against the canvases to create our own individual paintings. It was a therapeutic -- and fun, and messy -- experience for my whole family. After we were done, we got to take home our artwork that we had created together. I don't usually like to make a mess, so splatter painting is not an activity that I usually would have sought out myself. But I'm glad that I tried it! Like I said, it was very cathartic and therapeutic. Slinging paint against a wall is a big stress reliever, believe it or not. And my kids, who are used to people telling them not to get messy and throw things, were super excited to get messy and throw things. This was a fun art activity for everyone. The owner of Young at Art, Karla, is a local art teacher, which is really neat. Along with the splatter studio, she also offers art classes and art lessons, as well as canvas painting parties. Karla is very friendly and made us feel at home in her studio during our painting session. You choose the date and your intended project, and pay ahead of time. When you arrive, they have the supplies (wood and stencil, etc.) all ready on the work table. The two ladies who own/run it are very helpful and guide you through the entire process. You wear an apron, and can stain or paint (and use glitter), and rub then peel off stencils for your design or wording. It was all new to me and I learned quite a bit. There can also be a little constructing using nail guns and drills. It's a nice space, and they have completed projects all over the walls to give you ideas for your next visit. They allow you to bring food and drinks. Another group brought wine, and had food delivered. Tip: for a pre-dinner, there is a good Mexican place within walking distance.
