I don't like the process and detest taking them out when it's time....but the heat and humidity does not allow me to be great in the summer so....Braids it is! You know how you have this picture in your mind on how you'd look after getting your hair done? Well, this experience went above and beyond what I could imagine. What can I say, I am used to going to African hair braiding shops and knowing my edges will be snatched but my hair will be fly and I won't be there all day. So when my friend recommended Amanda to me, I was a bit hesitant. I knew it didn't feel like dousing my edges in castor oil all winter long, but I told myself if I have to go and sit for 12 hours for a style that looked like I did it myself I ain't got time for all that. So on a prayer, I booked with Amanda and there will be no turning back. First of all, she is super sweet and responsive. She let me know what hair to buy, and told me where to get it. I stuffed my face before I get there expecting to be there all night long, and she has me out in 3 hours!!! For a small twists on my big head! Even if I was going to have to sit 12 hours, Amanda was great company and my hair was awesome. I will definitely be back to her for other styles. Oh and she even lets you watch what you want on TV lol. Any negatives? Unless you want your edges snatched out, it's all good here. My experience with Amanda was great! I was able to get the next available appointment and she got the hair for me. I got medium sized box braids. They were all very uniformed and I felt as though my hair was protected. I have natural long hair and we opted for waist length braids, which I was apprehensive about, but they were all so neat and beautifully done. Amanda took care to not pull on my edges or hair for that matter, but the installation was well done. It took about a week for my hair to loosen, and then I was able to do a plethora of styles with my braids including the infamous bun. My appointment was on a Monday evening after work. Amanda is truly talented and fast! I have gone to her twice now. The first time, she was kind enough to fix my faux locs after another braider installed them poorly. I texted Amanda late at night and she was able to fix them the next night. I'm grateful because I had a big weekend planned and my hair would have ruined the weekend. Her warm inviting personality had me as soon as I stepped in her door. She has a beautiful home! I felt comfortable as soon as we said hello.
