I think this may have been posted elsewhere. Just a few minor adjustments on this, my main account with Yelp.
The Cis-Male Critic: An evaluation of Mad Cap Vapors, Cumberland Location
Is it Mad Cat Vapor, Maddcatt Vapor, or Mad Vapor Cat?, because this poor and underwhelming vape shop is presented in at least three different locations on the same page of a Google search. To avoid clumsiness and confusion, I shall refer to Maddcatt Vapors as MCV from here on out.
It does not take an MBA to understand that MCV, a brick-and-mortar store attempting to be so stylish inside, yet is strangely lazy enough to allow their online presence to be shouldered entirely by Facebook and Yelp, is a store that, with a high probability, has a business model grounded in self-centeredness, and is likely not to be customer oriented. Mat Cat Vapor met this probability with astounding finesse.
Should you, say, ever have the audacity to be disappointed in a purchase, and the next day you express your opinion that a device is lackluster, cheaply made, etc., and you would gladly exchange it for a mod kit of equal or greater value, and having bought the mod kit the previous day in cash, one would think that the salespeople at MCV would offer the same courtesy and professionalism you might expect to find at any of your finer discount superstores; a Walmart, say, or a Gabes (no offense).
I have never seen such a group of sour salespeople; unhelpful and defensive. You may at first be fooled and lulled into a sense of security, that these people are professionals with you, the customer, as their focus.
I'll spare you the trip. They aren't.
For a novice or even semi-experienced person who vapes, their explanations (across the board) are delivered as if you had skipped three days of class and the teacher is trying her best--with brilliant condescension--to make the simple confusing, to make the jargon remain jargon, and to have you leave feeling like you were given a stern warning by a prim and unforgiving assistant principle.
MCV does attempt a modern, progressive decor--but be wary. Their refinement ends at the black & white leather divans. Should you be dissatisfied with a purchase of a mod kit, or other accessory device, even if you bought it cash the day before and the same salespeople were present, don't expect to be treated like a valued customer. Rather, expect to be treated like an annoyance. Like you were in the wrong, they in the right. As we all know, the tenant of any successful business is rudeness and argument at the instigation of the salesperson.
Just two additional observations, folks. I promise, I am not a mean or overly critical individual. I simply have this crazy idea that when spending my hard-earned cash on premium, name-brand vaping products, I expect to be treated with the rudiments of respect and courtesy.
Finally, MCV's homemade vape ejuice--whether proprietary or not--falls completely flat. Their concoctions are overpriced and bland, bland, bland. Who cares if I can get xyz nicotine level, or 75/35 this or that, if everything they sell tastes strangely reminiscent of watered-down bubble-blowing solution?
Go somewhere else. Why not try the newly renovated Vapor Hut in LaVale, on National Highway? Vapor Hut excels in almost every area that MCV disappoints. Vapor Hut's prices are fair. They have a huge inventory. The store is open, and inviting, and the salespeople have the courtesy, vim, and vigor that tells you they are glad you are there. They may (but don't hold me to this) even be willing to haggle. But I'm a terrible haggler, and I avoid it like I avoid busy afternoon mobs at afternoon Turnpike eateries.
For me, I will continue to give Vapor Hut all my future business, and I encourage every one of my friends and colleagues who vape to blow off the insults and itching experience at MCV and go where shopping for high-end vape kits, and all the third-party and e-juice products you could hope for outside of the internet. You see, I think that having fun shopping in a brick-and-mortar store is a rare experience these days, especially when that experience is made so to a great degree by the professionalism, eagerness, and respect of its salespeople. read more
