The staff was just so friendly, and you can tell their passion for all things reading. They have worked at this spot for 20+ years, which goes to show the dedication to this special place. My kids enjoyed the unique books, along with the comfy seating in the back of the store. In addition to a great book selection, they have a variety of gifts and unique puzzles. We ended up buying a few books along with a fun, Japanese, dog-surfing puzzle that both our kids agreed was a really fun one. The prices were very reasonable and the store was just so well curated. I would love to come back here again on a future trip.

Yes, easily removable on a gloss surface, generally. HOWEVER, direct-to-paper pricing stickers are a complete dealbreaker for 1960s-1980s matte paperbacks. Vintage paperbacks from publishers like Ace, DAW, and Ballantine used uncoated covers. Trying to peel them off with alcohol or ever a dryer ruin the book's value and is heartbreaking for lovers of old paperbacks. It's unfortunate.

What's really cool about the place is that they not only have the regular used books selection, they also have a good handful of vintage, pulp fiction type paperbacks from the '50s and earlier. They also have a good selection of First Editions that they keep under lock and key and go for some serious bucks. I was stoked to see this place after not being in Downtown Oakland since my daughters mothers brother lived right up the street from this place. I know, I know. Haha :) First off, the exterior is very alluring and draws you in and that's what made me and my friend want to enter, look around and purchase as many books as possible because we both love a good bookstore and reading. Though that wouldn't be the case because when I opened the door for us to walk into this establishment we were met at the door by a super rude lady who said we weren't allowed to enter the business unless we had on masks, but not a single business in Oakland had this policy except them.
