She always brings attention to possible concerns for me watch ie redness around penis, ear problems etc. She listens to me about health concerns ie hearing/vision, temperament ie possible biting or skittishness, how short or long to cut. I'm currently on 4 dogs needing grooming. Deb suggested I try bringing in two at a time. She followed up a few sessions later to see how it was working & whether or not I wanted to go back to bringing all 4 at once again. A few yrs ago, I had an emergency foster needing grooming. I took to Petsmart East. Worse grooming experience! I now watch through their window and watch the groomers.Not the most patient groomers-watch how they tug the leash or push down on the dogs. I found Deb based on a co-worker's recommendation after a horrible experience with now defunct groomer at Noah's Ark. The groomer shaved so close on muzzle he had razor burns! Hopefully Deb will have recommendation when she retires (which I hope is not in the near future)!!

I believe they charge $200 per cat, which is a fair price. This store is owned by Mary and Joe who bought the place when it moved from the former location. The usual inventory of pet supplies and aquarium fish. Sure you might get a part time person who isn't very knowledgeable once in awhile but generally well trained staff who love animals. Don't believe those earlier posts about cleanliness and poor hamsters up for adoption. That's not the way it is here. Go see for yourself and clear your head playing with some kittens!

He asked for last name and when I gave it he said "weird they called about their cat's records yesterday". They only have a dog. He then asked to put me on hold and I said sure. Came back on and said they never did vaccines on the "cat" and he's "not sure what you want from me". I said I'm calling about a dog and he said "oh yes it's a dog". I asked if they did a tick test cause the owner had said they did. He said yes they did but that was it. I said okay that's all I need and he said "you're welcome" and hung up. My sheepdog was experiencing severe separation anxiety. She would refuse to get in the car, or out of the car. She would stress pee and become a 70 lb cement pancake when going to the groomers or the vet. She now enjoys car rides. She is not happy about the groomer, but complies.

Having worked with Jorge over a decade ago in person with my last pup, I trusted him completely to help us with our new fuzzy behemoth. This time, I could see his method more clearly, and understand the reasons he manages to be so helpful. For one, he is hilarious and kind, always listening, great at explaining. For another, he has a set of simple behaviors he helps train early on that shape the pup's and our sense of how this is going to go. The repetition of these exercises helps develop the owners' muscle for reinforcing good behavior and avoiding reinforcement of the behaviors you don't want. The pup learns to be calm and seek out the behaviors the human is asking for. Every time Jorge teaches a method, one learns the literal actions the owner and the dog should ideally take, while also learning the substrate behind the actions: the whys of how this works. That is what makes the humans so fundamentally changed by Jorge's work-- we learn to think about our part in the dog's behavior and it becomes a fun puzzle to shift what we are doing to get different outcomes rather than becoming frustrated with our animals. It is never about establishing dominance or power. The dog seeks to please you and get affection and reward from you. As a psychologist, I find myself thinking about Jorge's training often, since even with humans, and especially with children, the behaviors of adults are often implicated in the actions of others and in particular of our kids. One last superpower of Jorge's is that he is keen on including all relevant family members, including the youngest ones, to make for team responsibility in shaping the pup's behaviors. My 8yo is by far the best trainer in our home and has a wonderfully attuned relationship to our Swissy: training has helped him be empathic, firm, endlessly patient and effective at changing what he is doing to get optimal outcomes from her. I had to cancel a few walks due to my dog having diarrhea, and without any warning at all, Corinne said that paws and claws cannot provide services to me anymore. This is a horrific double standard. They told me on multiple nights that they cancelled services last minute due to walkers being sick, inclement weather, or transportation issues, but when I had to cancel last minute due to my dog's health condition, they stop their services to me altogether without any advanced notice. This is completely unacceptable and a total double standard. I want nothing to do with Corinne again, and will never speak to her again. I just feel terrible about this whole situation because the walkers are so nice and friendly, but can't be managed by someone who doesn't even understand the basic principles of friendliness and courtesy. I have spoken about this incidence with multiple friends of mine in Madison, who were shocked and angry and how unfairly I was treated.
