This restaurant is obviously popular. I wanted a reservation at 7:30 or 8:00pm for two and as usual left it until the last minute and at 5pm on Saturday evening the earliest reservation I could get was 8:30. This is great news for this new restaurant as they are obviously getting the demand they hoped for but I would advise booking early to get the time you want. You can call or do it online via their website so it is very easy to do. The venue has soft ambient lighting and a new quirky premium feel for Brisbane. There is a very cool indoor purple tree and and thank you Madame Wu, proper toilets inside your venue is a fantastic innovation for Australia but one a Northern hemisphere visitor very much appreciates. Of course being a waterfront restaurant you get great Bridge views when dining on their balcony which looked like it had a retractable roof above it. We had the Banquet One menu selection for 60AUD pp and have to say the taste and flavour of the food was just mouth watering. Well presented and as flavoursome as it looks. Had an interesting Rose wine there "Tin Shed" for 45AUD a bottle and was more slanted towards the full bodied flavour of red than an overly sweet white. A perfect in-between wine if you cannot decide whether to go for red or white. So all in all a huge amount to go for this restaurant. There is one small teething problem and I hope very much their management seek to help their team overcome some serious service flow challenges. We arrived and our table had not be laid and there was a little flurry of activity to quickly clear the previous dining leftovers away. No a problem but this actually set the mood for the rest of the service flow. We ordered cocktails to start and later our food and wine order was taken. To our surprise the wine wine arrived first by a new waiter. After a very long wait the cocktails arrived just before our first course by our original waitress. As we were enjoying the first taste of our banquet menu, the wine waiter shortly popped back and topped up our un-drunk wine glasses. Our first few plates got cleared away onto the table next to us by hand (I never saw a serving tray used to deliver or clear food - staff have been trained to pile up plates and glasses on their chests) and then an extraordinary wait started. We saw other tables have their menu orders delivered but no further activity came to our table. We watched as tables around us became dirty plate drop off points as the staff clearly struggled to find their feet as to a comfortable service delivery and clear-in routine. Eventually an apologetic waitress came to explain that she had chased the chefs for our order and was sorry about our extraordinary wait. Not too long after this service did resume and as I said earlier it was a delicious meal and the green tea ice cream dessert option was amazing! The total bill for 2 cocktails, banquet meal and two bottles of wine came in at 244AUD. I will pay a premium for great food but only if it is accompanied by seamless service and unfortunately there are not quite there yet. I would go back again but will wait 6 months to see if they have managed to get their kitchen and service teams to work more tightly together and deliver service that matches the quality of their food. I very much hope to be upping my star rating when I next visit. Don't be put off by my review, please go taste whats on offer but I hope you have a better service experience than I.

My goodness Madam Wu. You were an adventure to find and delicious to devour. Apple maps took us around and around and around looking for this place but when we found it, it was worth the wait. The Wagyu dumplings were the highlight of the meal followed by the hot and sour pork belly. We also had the Marron dumplings and pork dumplings which were delicious too. Asian greens in oyster sauce finished it off perfectly. The staff were very friendly and the place stays open till 12am. Kitchen does close around 10 so don't be caught out. Overall result: I would absolutely go again.

Nice spot, good service but average food for a lot of $$. Worth going for a cocktail but not for dinner.

Jam-packed with people of all ages from all the countries the beautiful world has to offer. Only catch is, you can only get in if you're a traveller or student (ID/Passport required) and if you're a girl. Although we have snuck the odd guy in with a bunch of girls with much success. It helps if you know the bouncer. They play music with the likes of Love Shack, Horny, Addicted to Bass and a lot of songs popular all over the world with the kids in the 90s era. They do go back to Dancing Queen and Mr Wendal as well and boy can you boogy to the tunes of this place. Be prepared to have some form of alcohol spilt on your fancy clothes every time you go there. Be prepared for people dancing on tables (even though they've banned it). Be prepared to body squish your way from the dance floor to the toilets and then back to the dancefloor with very willing body squichers - usually from Braz-eeeel (Brazil) and write a note on the wall to your ex-lover in the toilets and pretty much throughout the whole bar, on the walls, on the furniture... everywhere. Leave your memory here for free. This place will always hold a special place in our hearts, yes it's not posh, it's rather backpackery... but that's how we would like it to stay. Join in the songs with your hearts and hands and sing and dance to the wee hours to an awesome DJ with various glow in the dark articles through his hair. People have fun here, and that's what being young and travelling the world is supposed to feel like. Footloose and fancy free.

But the layout of the place is even better! It is a basement bar, half of it outside and the other half kind-of-inside. Very spacious, clean and with good selection of beer (albeit mostly mainstream beers, but a lot of them). Very comfortable, with some big TVs and also music. Good people watching too. The food is good, not amazing, but you can't expect amazing in such a central, tourist-y area. I had the wings and they're a solid 8/10, at least. Service was great too. Shout out to Elise behind the bar.

However, like most of the pubs in the CBD, this one does close quite early (though late enough that I was able to slip in here for a drink one night). There is nothing fancy or flash about this pub - expect the standard beers on tap - no craft beers. It also has a pokies area and a bistro, though there is a pool table tucked away in one corner. The beer garden is pretty cool as well, but unfortunately for the smokers it is not the designated smoking area. During the day it does get fairly crowded (though I have never noticed anybody out in the beer garden, despite it being a pretty nice day), but it was fairly quiet when I was there.

But sometimes it's good to get reckless and a bit silly over some beers and some really, really terrible love music. Irish Murphy's doesn't necessarily have bad music (I'm also a sucker for an accent, especially Irish) but they certainly have the collective crowd keen on getting drunk and roaring along to an inaudible and stereotypically perfect karaoke song. Maybe it's the fact that Irish Murphy's adopts an appearance actually like an Irish pub, but I can't help but have a little fondness for it. I have to search for the fondness a little but believe me, it's there. It's just an ideal place to gather around a table and sling back a few casual (or not so casual) beers and get a little messy and fun. And when you've had a few, who can't join in with the crooning and tuning of the blokes on stage? The beer's fairly cheap, the company's not half bad, and the entertainment isn't sot stale either. I'm not trying to sound begrudging here, because like I said, I do have a soft spot for Irish Murphy's. I just like to be with a larger group of people and get a little silly in the name of fun. If you're after slurry banter and Irish accents, Irish Murphy's is the place to be.
