Not bad but not wonderful. I'd probably rate it a 3.5. If we were in Arizona I'd only give it a 2 or 2.5 but I'm still testing he Mexican waters in NZ. The biggest let down was the tortilla. The burrito otherwise was pretty good. read more

As an American, I find myself craving decent Mexican food quite a lot and MadMex is my medicine! The nachos are great, and come with some actually pretty good queso. The Tacos aren't too bad either, and you can order them in singles too (though you won't get a stamp on your loyalty card). Pro Tip: They have cilantro (coriander) hidden away if you want some on a taco, burrito, etc, just ask for it.

Mad Mex comes through with delicious, fresh Mexican food made from top-quality ingredients. It's a small chain based in Australia, and now is appearing in New Zealand. For those of you familiar with Chipolte Grill from America, you will get the basic idea of the restaurant's format and menus. Once you order at the counter, your food is prepared in front of you, similar to how a Subway sandwich is created assembly-line style. There are a great number of selections you can make, from burritos to tacos, with chicken, pork, steak and other options. The sauces are flavorful, and can get very spicy!

I ordered a vegetarian salad from the Willis Lane store today. It was not delicious and it was…read moreover priced at over $22. For that price I expect delicious and I normally love Mexican food. The only thing that was fresh was the lettuce, which made up half of the dish. The guacamole and pico de gallo were out of a jar. The "vegetarian protein" seemed to be a very small amount of stewed mushrooms (not protein) and this and the rice and beans were luke warm. Had I not been so hungry I would not have eaten it. I won't be going back there.

First it took almost 20 min for the waitress to come over. However; food came out relatively fast. Esquites was probably the most palatable part of the meal. The mushroom quesadilla was horrible. Basically two tortillas with a slice of mushroom and mint?? Horrible horrible ... no taste at all. All I did taste was mint!! Gross. The beef taco was so chewy with pieces of fat and some meat attached... not good at all! Had to put a ton of house made salsa on top to make the food ok to eat. I'm glad we didn't order and waste our money on anything else. We live in San Diego California and this is a FAR CRY from Mexican food! The best thing about this place was the decor. Sorry but this place is a flop. It might have that hip atmosphere your looking for but if you want a good meal; don't think you'll find it here.
