I've been to Roosevelt' Field , Lake Grove and Walt Whitman and they are not at all like this store .This store has gotten very messy and dirty and it's not just because of the holidays . I was shopping here over the summer and it was just as bad ! The carpets at the check out on the second floor are absolutely filthy ! The racks are a mess and it feels like you are in a bargain basement ! When you walk into the entrance from the mall it's a bit better as you have all the cosmetic counters in the center of the store . But move on from there and you will see what I'm talking about ! I am subtracting one star because there isn't a large selection of dresses over size 16. When I walked in I was surprised how beautiful the store was. I'm used to the Massapequa and Walt Whitman Macy's that look tired and blah. This store had a huge selection of dresses. But not my size. Very small sizes and I recommended this location to my smaller friends and family. There is a huge Calvin Klein selection. Who knew Calvin Klein made so many dresses. I read more

I walked into the store wondering what I'd find and there it was - the whole store had pretty good selections! I spent most of my time downstairs but as I went upstairs, I saw that this Macy's had Backstage on the second floor and I was amazed. I started looking around at their home section and the kitchen portion of it and their selections are great! I wish the luggage had more of a selection, but overall a great experience. I'm so surprised that this Macy's has such low reviews! In comparison to the other Macy's on Long Island, this one is FAR superior. I live closest to Roosevelt field, followed by the Macy's in Massapequa, and then this Macy's. I choose to drive to come to this Macy's every time. It's clean, they just fixed it up. It's quiet, you're not getting trampled on like the one in Roosevelt Field. It's organized making the process of looking for clothes SO much easier. The return process is also a piece of cake. Fitting rooms are neat and there aren't an overwhelming amount of clothing littering the floors and racks like literally EVERY. OTHER Macy's. I went to buy shoes and gifts. In the shoes department, Jasmine was very kind and a good worker. I'm sad to say she was the only one. There were long waits on every register - if the register was even open to begin with. Every other worker was rude to me. I asked one worker if another register was open and she rolled her eyes without response. Sherry, a cashier became very nasty and upset to me when I asked her if she would ring up the items I had when she was behind a register doing nothing. Very unprofessional; she needed a play by play of how I got to her register. She shamed me for shopping last minute and just made me really uncomfortable with her inappropriate remarks. Today I was in Macy's in the shoe department on my lunch hour looking for a pair of shoes for my best friends bridal shower. It was pretty crowded with women on line, asking for prices, trying shoes on, etc. there was ONE man running this entire show and he was spectacular. Not only was he helpful, attentive, kind and caring but he is phenomenal at multi tasking. This man, Kevin, was ringing people up two at a time at the register. It might be a tendency for all of the department stores - shrinking, but I didn't expect that! Had an awful experience at MAC makeup counter. The manager of Mac counter refused to take my return, which I had the receipt for and both pieces of makeup were unopened. She claims because I had a "makeover" she cannot take the items back. I did not have a makeover, what the sales associate had done was applied some foundation and blush on me to test the colors on my skin. The manager of Mac makeup and of the store refused to accommodate me and told me to go to the original Macy's in which I made the purchase. It seemed as the Mac makeup associate was on some power trip. I called the Mac makeup company immediately as I walked out of the store and explained what had transpired and they refunded me the money and told me to donate the makeup to a good cause. I'm appalled at the lack of customer service I received in this Macy's. read more

I went here with very simple needs for a job uniform. All black shoes, pants, and collared shirt. I left with a poor selection of all 3 and in a horrible attitude due to the organization and attitudes of the employees. I started off in the shoe section, where I couldn't get the employees attention because he was chit chatting with his coworker, that's fine I don't really care. When I asked for the shoe I wanted in my size, he came back with "the size down in the shoe I wanted, or the right size with a black and white shoe." I was willing to size down, but when I opened the box, they were both the black and white shoe. When I brought this to the associates attention he basically "okay'd" me instead of looking again or showing me a different shoe. The women's section is organized by designer, which is fine enough. However, not a single associate or cashier knew where anything was, or their own stock, and how can you truly blame them when it looks like a clothes tornado in there. I asked an associate if she knew of any plain black collared shirts on the floor. She said "It's organized by designer you can try Calvin Klein across the floor but I don't know." When I asked the associate there she said she wasn't sure. If no one there is sure then how am I supposed to find one?! After circling the floor for over an hour I found one. Not so plain, but I found something passable. The fitting rooms were messy, the floor/carpet all over this department store was gross and looks like it hasn't been vacuumed in weeks, this is especially concerning in COVID times. When it was time for me to check out, I was behind one person at the largest register. This person had a lot of things to ring up so I expected any of the dozens of employees to hop behind the register to help me. Nope. It was social hour for the employees the entire time I was there. I work restaurant/retail jobs so I know they're not perfect but I have never worked in a store or been to a store where a guest needs help and you finish your story and start another with your coworker. After about 8 minutes, I even heard the cashier ask his coworker to ring me up or find someone who can and the employee walked away, never to be seen again. I waited about 4 more minutes and I was fed up so I went back to the girl who sent me to Calvin Klein. The table DIRECTLY next to her register was full of plain collared shirts, and one in black of course. Maybe she doesn't know the entire selection, but how do you not know the clothes next to you? The only good interaction I had with employees in that store was with Tim in the Ralph Lauren men's department. He really went out of his way to help me find the right sizes for my brothers gifts. He was kind and helpful the whole time. I somehow left with the things I needed, no thanks to the shoe or women's department employees. I came home in the worst mood, feeling like I wasted my time and money. I had to go to 3 other stores to get what I needed which is what I wanted to avoid in the first place, considering this is a department store. I will not be back even though I live so close, it is a guaranteed headache. read more

The Ralph Lauren section was a mess! Associate was stationed at the register but made no attempt to maintain the displays when she wasn't ringing people up. She was extremely rude and condescending when we made a purchase. Last thing she said, while sipping on a Venti frappachino and leaning on the counter, was "you'll get an email"--meaning my receipt will be emailed to me. Didn't even bother to hand the bag to me as it was closer to her on the counter. WORST EXPERIENCE from a cashier I've ever had. read more

This Macy's does not resemble in any way the Macy's in the Walt Whitman or Smithaven Malls. It has a much smaller selection and does not carry the better brands at all. The salespeople and cashiers are for the most part non-existent. I have had to walk the whole store to find an open cash register and then their is a very long line and a grouchy cashier. The space between racks is small and there are clothes that have fallen on the floor and left there. The few dressing rooms that are open are dirty and messy. It is a degrading experience to shop here and it should be upgraded or closed. read more

When buying a gift such as jewelry make up or fragrances do yourself a favor and check the box because they like to sneak it into a bag without showing you the boxes are filthy and look used. I went here for an eco-dot amazon alexa. A birthday present for my boyfriend. When i first got there every sales associate was giving me and my mom the run around from where to go and wouldn't give me a straight answer to where it was they would say "i know we have it check upstairs or over by the table in the corner downstairs" they werent helpful at all. The girls in the michael kors section were on there phones and got annoyed when i asked them a question when the other associate told me that it would be located somewhere in that area. We were walking around for a good 45 minutes, FINALLY me and my mom went into the mens department by the shoes and came into contact with jasmine who was super helpful and shes the only reason i'm giving this place 5 stars, when we asked her she checked the computer to see if they were in stock and she told us there were and she ran in the back and brought both color options out for us, now mind you this wasnt even her department and she was the only one DOING HER JOB she was super super helpful and nice. Today I tried to return or even exchange a shirt at the Bay Shore Macy's. I was told I could not return it or even exchange it because it was a "Last Act" item and I bought it more than 30 days ago. The saleswoman was nice enough. That is not my complaint. My complaint is with Macy's. This policy is the WORST policy they could have for their business. When I bought the shirt, I was disappointed that I couldn't use a coupon. I think that's a new policy, too. So make that 2 bad policies. Macy's is obviously struggling. They keep shrinking the size of the misses departments. They redid Macy's in Bay Shore, but, instead of making it bigger & better, they made it smaller & better. Their Style & Co. line used to be great. They used to make long shirts with big & bold patterns that you can wear with leggings. Now stop in & look at Style & Co. The style is bo-ho with the worst style ever!! I can't even begin to explain the sytyle, but it's just not there. Macy's, you are missing the mark and unfortunately, you lost a lifelong customer today. I I can't remember the last time I couldn't return something to a store. I will be telling all of my friends & family how Macy's is a disappointment.
