This is a clearance store, so I expected out of season merchandise. There was a lot of selection. What I didn't expect was the amount of general clutter and disorganization in the store. It was also very hot inside the store to the point where it was nauseating. I visited the restroom on my visit and there was toilet paper all over the floor and feces in the toilets. Here we go! Now my coworker and I was enroute to Stop & Shop for lunch which is in the same parking lot as Macy's Backstage. Now when my coworker opened the door for me the first thing I said was "Why we coming in here? Is this another way into Stop & Shop?" He states "No, don't you want to look around?" "No, and get in behind me temptation!" We went in briefly, I look around pick up this and that, before I knew it I had about six items to try on. The prices was ok but for me I need to stay up to date fashionable. I like that everything was organized and the store clean. Anything I get for upcoming events, usually comes from here. I have several events coming up for school and this place always has something I like. It had a perfect dress for my fifth grade graduation all those years ago, along with birthdays, dances, etc. Definitely the type of store to go and shop instead of online. Do not buy anything from Macy's Backstage HUGE SCAM. First order was told delivered to an incorrect address. After I requested a refund, they told me they will expedite a 2nd order in 3 days, and a signature will be required. Tracking my order again, is missing with no explanation, check with people in your neighborhood, contact courier. Clearly this was not sent with a signature upon delivery or they would know where the order was sent. Now, requesting a refund can only offer me 70% because they are at a loss, because courier might have not been able to deliver to my area. I live in the middle of the suburbs. Lame excuse, after Lame excuse. If the prices seem too good to be true they are. You will NEVER get your order. read more

This backstage merchandise is nothing but a bunch of junk cluttering a store that already doesn't offer much quality any longer - between this and Toys R Us on level 2 and Christmas decor, there's no longer a reason to shop at my local Macy's. The store is just fine to me. Third time shopping here. The reason I am not giving a five star rating is because I felt like I was given the incorrect information when I signed up for the Macy's credit card. The cashier told me that I will save 20% by signing up. Then, when I actually got approved, I was told that I would see the 20% applied to my bill. When the bill finally came, I received two coupons: A 20% one and a $10 off $30 or more one. So finally today, I went back all excited to use my coupons, only to be told at the register that since the store is already discounted, and that they don't take coupons at the store. I bought a flannel sheet set from Macys online. I'm was not what I expected and went to Macys Backstage to return it. The in incorrect price kept coming up and I needed the manager to correct the error: the manager was a black woman who immediately profiled me kept me waiting for 20 minutes before she helped me. She asked me if I used the sheets. I did not. She went on to be nasty in her tone and basically treated me as if I stole the sheet and was trying to return it. She claimed she could not find the order. I eventually got my money back. If you have to return something don't go there, in fact stay away from Macys because they tried to rule me off for a sheet that was purchased less than two weeks ago. read more

I am almost embarrassed to say for as long & as much as I shop Macys , I just assumed the items were left over from the season @Macys backstage , I was wrong , they are items that didn't sell in other markets & maybe bigger than your local one . I was in for such a treat . I saw a white leather Valentino handbag made in Italy sitting behind the sales counter . I asked is that for sale ? And it was , It was marked originally $ 1,100 but backstage had it at $330.00 . The prices are deeply discounted & that might the only one so grab it before it's gone . The saleswoman was so helpful too. The friendly gentleman who was working in the ladies handbags / perfume area suggested I check the backstage . I've recommended it several times & everyone thought the same as me , Clearance , which is still good but when a season comes to an end , I just get excited for the next one coming .I'm so happy with my purchase & plan on stopping in there first from now on ! read more

I am the ultimate bargain hunter, and I have also been a loyal Macy's fan since birth, so I was quite excited to hear that Macy's had opened up an outlet store of its own. I first went a few months after they had opened, and the store was incredibly clean and organized, but the deals weren't that great. The pricing was comparable to what you can find at a regular Macy's plus a 20% off discount, which Macy's is forever toting anyhow. I've since returned on 2 different occasions, and each time has been hit or miss. I deducted one additional star because the Macy's Backstage employees are amongst the least friendly I have encountered at any Macy's anywhere. Each of the reps I have dealt with were rude and not helpful. I think you CAN find some good deals, but much of Macy's Backstage is quite lackluster because it is not only the items that are out of season. It also sells items that customers have returned with varying marks (eg deodorant, makeup) on them. read more

Well, what can be said about the WO backstage? Not much good I'm afraid. Before visiting here I read all about Backstage and how Macy's was trying to attract millennial and younger bargain conscious shoppers. Think century 21. Well, this ain't no C21. This is unmistakably Macy's. Very low end selection of Macy's clothes and brands. Very few high end clothing selections - They must not have gotten the memo on how to run this type of business. The key here is to throw in some awesome finds and rare, unique, local or high end brands amongst the junk. This Backstage is almost completely full of the junk. It also feels like a Macy's, right down to the smell, cheesy overly loud music, outdated decor, etc. And one more thing. I was sure that this was a Macy's from the moment I walked in because the ever so friendly loos prevention folks followed my wife and I all over the store. When LP wasn't within eyesight, it was a Macy's employee, coincidentally needing to restock or shuffle the racks in our immediate vicinity. It felt just like being at the 34th st store as a 16 year old again! Certainly no way to treat customers especially given the settlement with NYAG over similar issues. But I digress... Highlights: A few good deals to be found, Bloomingdale's house brand, sunglasses, convenient location off 280. Lowlights: Atmosphere, selection, antiquitated loss prevention strategy. Macy's Backstage on the outside, but a smaller version of Ross and/or Marshall's-like store inside. The inside really is "dull" and boring--the lighting is not that bright; it's almost like being in a basement. The place is still clean and relatively organized for now, which is nice. A few items here are on sale, but certainly not everything. Selection wise, I'll pass. It's essentially the same old, limited selection from the old store but a little more condensed. I didn't bother to look through the men's clothing section, but the shoes available aren't that appealing; sizes 10 and 10.5 have the most shoes to choose from. Size 12+ (my size) had merely two or three racks with the same exact selection. There's a 'home' section, which has a number of wall decors, kitchen gadgets, 'paintings', and a few appliances. The front of the store has a long rack of (headphones, earphones, 60oz flasks, etc., along with a small set up of Christmas decorations. The only section that I liked was probably where the sunglasses were. There were Oakley's, Maui Jim, Rayban's, a few A|X frames, and some other brands I'm not too familiar with. Overall, this place is alright if you're looking for common things. However, I would stick with the malls if I need to do some major shopping. read more

Not impressed. If this location is done it doesn't feel like it. The outside sign is nice and looks inviting but get inside and its dull grey everything and signage that looks like it was created in 1989. Extremely poor lighting. No point at looking at the shoes, isles are so dark you can't see anything. Clothing racks overpacked so it's difficult to flip through and find anything. The racks that weren't packed were full of unattractive options. Not sure who the buyers are targeting. Horrible clothing and shoe selection. I felt like I was at a really bad version of Marshall or TJ Max with even worse music. In fact they have some of the same kitchenware I've seen at TJ Max! I'm sure I could have found some accessories or trinkets to buy but I felt like I've seen it all before and just really wanted to get out of there. Felt like I was at poorly lit goodwill. Macy's Backstage wants to be Nordstrom Rack, but misses the mark and falls more in the vein of TJ Maxx and Marshalls. It's incredibly hit or miss in terms of selection. The women's section dominates, with smaller sections of men's apparel, purses, luggage, home goods, and shoes. The shoe selection disappoints. Many racks of clothes are co-mingled and you have to be committed to browsing through. There is a reasonably stable selection of higher-end hair care products for lower prices than you'll find elsewhere. read more

I checked out this new location on the day after Christmas after hitting other off price stores. It has similar interior to the Nordstrom Rack in Paramus. I'm not quite sure what the other reviewers were expecting, but it is in fact a Macy's Backstage-NOT a Macy's as we know it. It has similar product to a TJ Maxx/Marshalls as they all carry off price department store goods. We got amazing deals with their BOGO offer. There was a great Mens selection-outerwear was spot on. The home and accessories departments needed more stock. The shoe department could use more light but was no more a mess than any other store of its kind. I found the staff to be super friendly and helpful. There were some great brands in women's (Hudson jeans and the like). I went in expecting off price... expecting Macy's brands...and expecting a good deal. This absolutely met my expectations. read more

What a dump. I went there looking for clearance handbags I had seen at one of the local Macy's. I was amazed to see that 99% of the handbags there were cheap no-name brands that I have never even seen in Macy's. This place was a huge disappointment! It's dark and dreary inside, with gray floors like you're in a cellar. The clothes were not top quality and looked picked-through, as if you're in a second-hand store. It didn't live up to Macy's standards at all, and I bought nothing. Half the shelves in the home goods area were empty, and some items had no prices. Scarves and hats were in too many separate areas and not together. Jewelry and shoe selection is sparse.
