The only…read morereason why I went to this place to begin with is because it's across the street from my favorite pool store. I just happened to see it and didn't check for reviews. What a big mistake!The old man assisting us seemed ok at first, he was even cracking jokes, but then I noticed he was getting annoyed when I asked him for different colors and styles. And when I asked him for a shirt his answer was "a shirt is a shirt " as he rolled his eyes. Then he told my son he was going to have to imagine the vest on. I thought he was joking and laughed but then I realized he wasn't , and said no, he would like to try it on please. He yelled at me from across the room " Come on, come on !". I kept my cool ( thinking wow! what a grumpy, rude old man). However, I told my son to just change because we were going somewhere else. Then the old man came back with a vest and with an attitude he said "here!" and handed my son the vest. While we were there, there was only one other person in the store who walked in to pick up his prom tuxedo. So I guess he was overwhelmed with "two" customers. Just because he was old an we all know how old people sometimes become grumpy, I didn't want to be disrespectful so I told him my son will come back with his girlfriend to make sure the tuxedo and accessories match her dresses, since they have 2 proms. The man's answer was to make sure he knows what he wants because he can't try everything on because everything he tried on had to be dry cleaned according to covid regulations.... O.....k. That is not my problem, tuxedo rentals are expensive. So I finally told him not to worry about him because my son was not going back. I told him, calmly, that he needed to have patience with his customers, we can't just go and get an outfit for a very special day without trying it on and making sure that it's what we want and that it fits nicely. He said he's been in the business for over 50 years, he got in my face trying to intimidate me and said I was rude. To be honest, I really felt like pushing him but Instead I took a step back and told him he was the rude one, and maybe that was the problem, he's been doing it for too long and it was time for him to retire. I walked out as he was yelling I don't know what. By then my blood pressure was trough the roof. Wow! what a bad experience. The good news is that right after I left that shit hole, I went to a store in Rutherford and got everything my son needs for his 2 proms. What a difference! Thank goodness for that. So, since I can't give 0 stars I'm giving it 1. I just read other reviews, I wish I would've done it before walking into that nightmare.

I had a very disappointing experience at Castle Couture. As a mother shopping for a dress for my…read moredaughter's prom at a Muslim school, I explained that the dress she tried on was too revealing for the school's standards. Rather than listening respectfully, the CEO, Maurice Payani, responded dismissively when I mentioned that the school follows guidance from an imam. I was told that my concerns didn't matter and that I didn't understand what was being said to me. The interaction felt extremely disrespectful and confrontational. Instead of trying to understand the cultural and religious context I explained, the conversation became tense and uncomfortable. As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect--especially when discussing modesty standards for a religious school event. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I left feeling unheard and disrespected. Because of this experience, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this store to families who expect respectful customer service and sensitivity to religious or cultural concerns.

While David's shop is small and somewhat eclectic, David personably service far exceeded expectations. More importantly, his pricing was very reasonable. I was a one time customer reluctantly renting a tuxedo for a special event so the likelihood of my needing his services again is highly unlikely. Nevertheless, I wouldn't hesitate coming back here.

The craftsmanship really stands out the stitching, the fit, and the overall finish are excellent. You can tell it's truly custom made. Gioia helped me this time and she is so lovely. She was very attentive and really took the time to understand what I was looking for. She made the whole process easy and enjoyable. Neal handled the measurements and was extremely thorough. I mentioned that I'm actively losing weight, and he made sure to take that into account so the suit would still fit well as my body changes. That level of care really stood out to me. Alan was also incredibly generous. I was able to use a store credit he had provided, and it was clear that he genuinely cares about his customers and wants to make sure everything goes well. That kind of service is rare these days. The Madison Avenue showroom is beautiful and the whole team makes you feel very welcome. I've had a really positive experience every time I've come here. That's why I returned in May 2025 to order a sportcoat. Unfortunately, the customer service this time fell short of my expectations. By late August, I realized I hadn't heard anything about the order and called for an update. I was told the fabric had been out of stock and later delayed due to the factory's vacation schedule, which seemed reasonable enough. In September, they contacted me for a fitting, but the appointment date inadvertently fell on a holiday when the store was closed. I rescheduled for October. At that visit, I was told the jacket would be ready in a few weeks, but again, no one reached out. In December--more than six months after ordering--I called once more and received a text saying they'd follow up with an estimated date. When I expressed frustration about the lengthy delay, they acknowledged that the initial order had been submitted late, which contradicted earlier explanations. To their credit, they took responsibility and offered a generous store credit, which was appreciated but not expected. The reason for my three-star rating isn't the final product, which was fine, but the lack of proactive communication. I had to repeatedly contact them just to understand what was happening with an order that had been paid for months earlier. Even my salesperson at Macy's is more proactive--and I don't spend thousands of dollars at a time there. My husband has had consistently positive experiences at Alan David, so I do believe my situation was an outlier and wouldn't discourage others from trying them. They ultimately handled the service recovery well; I only wish the issue had been acknowledged and addressed earlier. My hope is simply that their follow-up and order tracking become more reliable moving forward because otherwise, you might be left with the feeling that once you've paid, nobody really cares.
