We walked into an empty store and he picked up a pair of slacks. The salesperson approached us, took the pants out of his hands and said....don't touch the clothes, it's a display. the pants were folded on a table. He then said Don't touch anything, ask me if you want anything. Well my husband wanted those pants in his size but the guy walked away. I was in shock. So was my husband. We left. It was grating on us so after some buying elsewhere we returned and told the salesman (use that term loosely) that his actions and lack of help and rude behavior was unacceptable. Rather then ask what he could do for us, he told us how much money they payed for displays. We told him how that didn't do much for any empty store. He told us how they'd been in business for 47 years and they didn't need us!! We certainly don't need you either. Thanks for the memories though. It was once an incredible store with equally fine salespeople.

Two days before the wedding, a friend suggested an alternation that would transform it into the perfect gown but I knew it was too late. I called every tailor I knew but no one was willing to help. With 24 hours to go, Abby returned my call. She opened her shop and within an hour, had the alterations done. She could have charged me anything but only charged for the hour's work! My son picked up the dress and handed it off to me at the rehearsal dinner a few hours later. The dress was beautiful and the next day was great! There are no seamstresses left like Abby. In order words I didn't want a skinny suit that so many men wear today - which I wouldn't have worn even when I was younger and had only 12% body fat. I wanted a gentleman's classic fit suit. Initially, Angela was friendly and helpful as I began looking through the selection. However, when I mentioned that I needed to come back to show my family before making a decision, her attitude shifted dramatically. She rushed through the rest of my appointment and ended it earlier than the allotted one hour. I didn't even get the chance to view the dresses on the other side of the store. When I called a week later to schedule another appointment to see the dresses I missed, Angela told me I wasn't ready to order and told me she had no appointments for me. She is too busy with customers that want to make a purchase. I was shocked by such poor customer service. Shopping for a dress in this price range--$800-$1000-is a significant decision, and I wanted to be certain before making a purchase. Instead of encouraging me and offering guidance, Angela dismissed me and refused to give me another opportunity to return. I've never encountered a bridal store that expects customers to commit to a purchase on the spot, especially for such an important occasion. Now I understand why I was the only person in the store on a Saturday afternoon. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Tony Conte to anyone looking for a welcoming and supportive shopping experience.
