I came back to get my mom a pair of gloves and they helped me decide and in picking the warmest combination of gloves I could get her. I went for the great inventory, and prices, but went back a few times for their staff are really super super helpful. I had written this in Google reviews, but noticed I hadn't added it here, and given I had a fantastic experience with Campmor again I had to add this. My most recent experience was great again even though I had a glove that failed under the stress of the winter, given the crazy amount of shoveling over this crazy weekend as well as some outdoor activity. This however, is no fault of the store anyhow, & instead to their credit they resolved the situation seamlessly. I ended getting the flagship glove from Gordini, and another cheaper one for when its not so cold so I dont have to put the expensive ones thru all the hard wear. Anyway, excellent gloves. I currently own 6 pairs of gloves, and some insulated jacket I bought this winter season from campmor, and these are all excellent. Fantastic store.

Let me start by saying that Ski barn is probably one of the most busiest ski apparel shops in the…read moretri-state area, and there's never been a time where I visited the store and haven't had to wait a while for service when it comes to boots or skis. However, with that said, it is absolutely worth the wait. Rick Vanek is one of the best at what he does, and I always try to seek him out when I visit, however, last weekend he was occupied, so I had to put my name on the waiting list. An unassuming, younger woman by the name of Abby was readily available, and when I tell you, I probably gave her the most difficult time in assisting me because I had my mindset on what I wanted. Boy was I wrong. After guiding me, even against my will at times, she ended up giving me exactly what I needed, not what I wanted. Every boot that I tried on that I came in for ended up not being sufficient enough for my feet. She never lost patience with me, and ultimately, she put me in a boot that I would've had never chosen. The irony is these boots are the most comfortable boots that I've ever worn and they are also at the skill level of what I was seeking. Rick actually recognized me and came up to say hi as Abby was servicing me, and just smiled silently. He knew that she knew her stuff. I can't praise her enough for taking care of me thoroughly and ultimately giving me exactly what I came for. Don't let her young appearance fool you, she's more skilled at what she does than some other individuals at other shops twice her age. I've been skiing for over 26 years, and this young lady just schooled me. Abby, thank you so much for putting up with a hardheaded veteran like myself. I highly, highly recommend anyone that is looking for the proper ski boots to visit this location and ask for Rick or Abby in a heartbeat. Well done!

The fitters…read moreare consistently great - friendly, good with kids, and know how to size boots appropriately. Despite the hectic season, the staff does well. The bad: I brought my own boots/skis in for a tune-up for this season. While I discussed what I needed with one of the men behind the counter, another guy working there came over and informed me that my skis are actually not mine; they are rentals from Ski Barn, which I never returned. I tried to explain a couple of times that I owned my boots and skis and bought them at a Ski Barn sale event a few years ago. I've also brought them to be tuned at Ski Barn each season with no issues. The guy was adamant that I was wrong and trying to service rentals, implying that I never returned a pair and was trying to pass them off as my own. Not only was he completely wrong, his tone was incredibly rude. I explained again; he doubled down. By looking at their computer system, it is easy to see my rental record, and he could quickly see that in all my years of renting, I've never rented adult skis. I only rent for my children. Why would I have an adult rental that I never rented? But he could not back down. Instead, he made insulting remarks to me, which said more about him than me. He still could not concede, so he said he was just not going to pursue it anymore. The best part is - which we found out toward the end of our altercation - it turns out his dad is the owner of Ski Barn and actually was the one who fitted me and sold me my boots and skis a few years back. So no, they are not rentals:) His dad knew how to make a sale and get a family of customers. His son just figured out how to lose us. I will complete our transaction this season, but in the future, we are going to Mt. Everest Ski Shop. ETA: After I pick up our skis, I will take them to the shop on the mountain we're going to for a quick check because I would genuinely not be surprised if this guy messed around with our equipment out of spite.

Learning to ski in my 30s felt a bit intimidating, but the team at Mount Everest in Westwood made the process so much easier and more enjoyable! The staff are incredibly friendly, honest, and helpful, especially Andrew, who went above and beyond to assist me with rentals and gear suited for my skill level. He took the time to explain everything, making me feel confident and comfortable as a beginner. He even would crack a joke from time to time to help me to not over think and stress so much. On top of that, their selection of gear and brands is fantastic, definitely some of the best I've seen in the Bergen county area. They also run great sales, so you can get high-quality equipment and name brands at a great price. I can't recommend Mount Everest enough for anyone, whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting like me. I'll definitely be coming back! The only downside to their Westwood location is finding parking as it is all street parking and fills up rather fast.

I'm writing this review bc they really hit the nail on the coffin this time. I came there to mount new bindings on my skis and got hit with a service charge almost as much as the bindings. They told me to come back in about 10 days because they are backed up. I show up and they give me my skis with the same bindings I had before. Like "here is ur skis you paid $350 for nothing". Imagine I was new to skiing and didn't know any better? They then made me wait another hour until they mount them. Smh can't believe this happened. You pay a lot for terrible service at this place.

Dear Sir or Madam good and happy holiday…read more Paramus Park Retail Store Paramus, NJ 888-490-3837 I spent $1,000 in this store today, but the manager treated me with an extremely poor attitude. I have no idea what I did to offend her. I've been coming to this location for two years and have never experienced anything like this. It made me feel very unhappy and uncomfortable. She even falsely accused me of returning items "too often." I must strongly disagree with this. When the store doesn't have certain items, your own employees special-order them for me. Sometimes they accidentally order extras, and they tell me to return the additional items. Yet this manager claims that I "love to return things," which is completely untrue. On top of that, she even told me that I "stayed in the store too long." If I don't take my time trying on clothes and checking whether something fits, or learning about the functions of the products, how could I possibly feel confident spending so much money? LL Bean products are not cheap. Is this something a manager should be saying? This feels like discrimination and an abuse of authority. At this point, it honestly feels like a shame to spend money in this store -- especially when I spent so much today -- only to be treated this way. You really need to be careful with this new manager. Her attitude is terrible, and she treats people differently. I am an older customer, and most LL Bean shoppers are also older adults. No one wants to spend a lot of money just to be treated disrespectfully. I've visited many LL Bean stores and have never had such an unpleasant experience. The female manager's name is Grace -- please stay away from her. I will also be telling the elders in our church not to visit this store anymore. Please be aware. And if the store continues treating customers this way, you will close down sooner or later. Just look at the REI store next door -- it has already shut down. I will never shop at this location again.

(This was a few months ago so the details could be a bit iffy.)…read more This was a very impromptu trip and everything at Edge of the Woods makes doing that easy. Head to the website, book the date & time you want and you're done. www.watergapadventure.com/river-trips A few things worth noting: They offer multiple trip lengths. The standard 4-, 6- and 10-mile trip (Smithfield to Portland) are all booked generically and then when you get there you tell them what you want to do. All pricing is the same which believe me compared to others companies, that's very different - in a good way. They do offer two other longer trips but those require calls to the main office I assume to assess river conditions; your own competency and shuttle availability. The main office in Delaware Water Gap is very easy to find and there was plenty of parking on a quiet post-Labor Day Monday. You check in, you're handed a laminated map, life jacket and given a brief route explanation and then you're off in the van. One problem arose and it was kind of a PIA but it was worked around. Most companies have different types/sizes/models of kayaks and quite often, will ask you what you prefer. Not here. When we left the office, the guy driving didn't say a word to me until we get to Smithfield Beach to unload. He had a few kayaks pre-loaded in the carrier but definitely did not look at them before we left. One of them had a broken foot pedal that he said couldn't be used, another was very much designed for a smaller individual (i.e. if you're taller and/or taller & larger it ain't happening safely) which only left two tandem models. Using a tandem as a single individual is not the end of the world but especially when the seats are still left in the two person configuration (i.e. one front and one back versus the rear one being placed more towards the middle), it's a PIA to maneuver the craft and you are paddling harder to get the job done compared to a single. The scenery along the route was decent. You could see a bit of the Shawnee Resort and Golf Course, an old stone bridge abutment in the middle of the river, under and along 80 and then when you get into the Water Gap itself with the high cliff sides. Very picturesque. Once you go under the old train viaduct in Portland, you give the office a call for the shuttle to meet you at the out point which is at the Portland Pedestrian Bridge. The whole experience was about four hours door to door to cover the ten miles on the water plus the shuttle to & from the pick up and drop off points. Lots of nice scenery, due to the low water level there wasn't much in the way of current except for the area around viaduqt in Portland and even that wasn't bad. I'm not a big fan of the equipment here but I wouldn't let that deter me from coming back in the future for one of their northern longer trips.
