Great service from start to finish, on the phone I was guided through the different options for what I was after. On arrival I was greeted with a cup of tea and a good chat about the process. Time was taken in order to get the exhaust set up just right and the attention to detail was brilliant, asking how I would like the exhaust tips to sit, really going the extra mile. The outcome is exactly what I was after, keeping the deep rumbling tone but without being too loud, the new stainless tailpipes add to the whole look of the car. Cheers guys!

If you need a mechanic in Crieff these people are honest!!! :o)…read more Our car has been a bit slow starting, recently, I mean the ignition didn't seem to respond very well. We went up north, from Edinburgh to Comrie (near Crieff) for a couple of days and, hey presto, Sod's law when you're away from home, the car suddenly stopped firing up so we kept having to park it on hills and bump start it. Every time we did get it started we ran it for ages, to charge the battery, but it kept doing the same thing. We literally just happened to spot Strathearn Tyres as we were looking for somewhere to pull over and ring the RAC so wo pulled over into their yard and asked them to have a look anyway. The lovely man (the owner?? White hair, late 50s-ish) tested the battery and said it was fine so he had another sniff around and discovered that the copper cable that sends the message down from the ignition had worn right through, it almost looked like someone had sawn through it! He stripped the wire back a bit and put a new connection on- this all took him less than 10 minutes and he wouldn't take more than £10 for the work and part! He just said 'you could easily have been ripped off but we don't want to operate like that, we want people to come back with more work for us- £10 is more than enough'. Smiley, friendly, quick, HONEST and polite! We even went back as we'd forgotten that the tyres needed air and a young apprentice type filled them for us, with no charge at all. Kwik Fit would most likely have whipped the battery out straightaway and charged about £100 for a new one, and probably kept the car in for at least a day. We cannot recomend this garage highly enough- they so easily could have conned us, especially as they knew we were just passing through, but they saved our bacon! We took them a box of nice biscuits to say thanks :o)

I had a…read moreproblem with my exhaust and took my car to another branch of Kwik Fit, but after having second thoughts decided to take it over to this branch, only a couple of miles away. However, after just a couple of minutes I ordered them to stop working on my car and left. Why? First, they couldn't find the problem even though I pointed to it. Second, they quoted me a price £60 more than their sister branch down the road. Third, the mechanic insisted the car was "on its last legs", despite being just five years old, and said he needed to take it for a test drive so he could identify all the problems with it. Here I was thinking a good mechanic would start by looking at the car, not driving it. The service was appalling, the staff were rude and quite frankly I'm not interested in hearing that a perfectly good car that consistently passes its MOTs and has been lovingly cared for needs to "go straight to the scrap yard". If you must use Kwik Fit, there's a branch in Kirkintilloch. Don't take your car to these cowboys.
