Bought a car from Macrae and Dick Mazda on Harbour Road. Going through the process of buying a car went smoothly as expected but the customer service and after care has been shocking, putting me off returning to this dealership ever again.
The first problem I had was a puncture, the car was taken to Rapid Fit, a tyre company behind the dealership that M&D are in partnership with. I left the car there to have the punctured tyre fixed and he said he would take a look at the others as I was aware they are all due to be changed. I returned to find he had put on 4 brand new tyres of the highest spec, and passed me the bill of £850. There was no phone call to ask for a preference of tyre and it being a Friday afternoon, to quote the chap, an Andy James, after telling him this was unacceptable, he said, 'I either pay the bill or he puts the punctured tyre back on and keeps the car for the entire weekend' (Practically keeping the car ransom). In the end I demanded he put 3 of the old tyres back on and paid for the one and left.
The second problem, the DPF light came on in the car indicating an issue with the diesel filter. I took the car straight to the dealership and was told this could also be an indication the car required a service, which had to be carried out first, to which I was quoted £800 for the full service and this would keep the car within it's warranty to be able to carry out any major work if there was indeed a fault. This incredible price was down to the car requiring a timing belt change due to the cars age, this would not have been an issue had I not only bought the car 7 months prior and I was told the next service would cost as much as quoted, because I obviously would not have bought the car. After expressing my concerns over this, the reaction of the staff was, again to quote 'How were we supposed to know?'.
Through this ordeal, I was never reassured, there was never any indication that they were interested in trying to help or even look at the car until I paid for the service. I then repeatedly asked to see a Manager, the request was refused each time and the only person who could see me was a Salesman. I reluctantly accepted, and again, instead of being reassuring, this chap stood and argued every one of my concerns until I realised this was never going to go anywhere and I left.
I will definitely buy a Mazda again, brilliant car, fantastic drive, but will never return to this dealership. read more
