Back where I come from we would call this a "dirt mall" not because it's dirty but because it's basically baron inside. Not being from here, I have to imagine that back in the day this mall was poppin' based on the size of it. I mean, it's huge. Empty. But huge. This is a five star mall for mall walkers that's for sure. So there's a Dillards, Journey's, Finish Line and Spencers. There's a pet store with an actual pet inside for sale which I honestly didn't even know was legal. There are some off-beat/named stores too. A Few jewelry stores. A big Burlington and a bbq restaurant. I did one lap and was out. It was clean, I will say that! OH and there was a "food court" too. I think it had about two places open. I mean, if you need to kill time this would be the place to be. Two stars only because if I lived here and wanted to walk around and do laps here for exercise I totally would go here. read more

I miss this mall! Growing up in Central GA was a treat to shop here. Today it's no longer the same mall. So much crime in the area. After eating at Ole Time Country Buffet we walked around to see how things have changed. There are approximately 20 stores open. The anchor stores like Macy's , Belk and JCPenney are no longer there. Senior citizens walk inside the mall daily. read more

I actually wasn't too sure if it was still open as when I pulled up there's no signage outside. There were a few cars in the parking lot so I went inside. Omg, It's sooo disappointing how this mall has fallen off. There are more murals than stores. read more

Sadly there is really nothing here anymore but there are a few restaurants that remain open in the afternoon--mostly Chinese/Japanese food--one deli place. If you go get dinner the place is EMPTY except for people getting food, but the mall itself is dead. read more

The way this mall looks now, really breaks my heart. Once upon a time, this mall used to be filled with a wide variety of stores, restaurants and even a few arcades! But now it has practically become a deserted museum of Macon's yesteryears. Many people say that "riff raff" is the reason the mall went downhill, however there is riff raff everywhere, and it not just exclusive to one area! I will say that the new owner of this mall has done a wonderful job renovating it, but unfortunately, that was done in vain. Perhaps each of these photos can be compiled in one of the old stores and turn that into a museum! Then, place stores in the others vacant spaces. Add a few trees, some more benches and a few fountains and maybe a movie theater/arcade! There is hope for the Macon Mall, it just needs a little TLC. Also, to many patrons, the location of the mall is a bit worrying. I understand, but in addition to the renovations and hopefully new stores that will be arriving, there needs to be better security. Ones that focus on the potential dangers rather than pestering innocent patrons. The police have enough on their plate, so once the mall is filled with new stores and eatery's, they can hire some professional security. read more

I truly enjoyed all the historic photographs. One of my favorites is of The Macon Dodgers, 1959. The Macon mall reflect on the past and present of Macon through the display of historic photographs and present day scenes located throughout the mall. It's always sad to see a big store like JCPenney closing it's doors. Lots of good sales right now. It's a very nice clean Mall. I will be back. read more

The new owner is currently redoing the whole mall and is going to update it completely inside. I stopped there tonight and could already see how nice it's going to be once completed. The food court area is also getting some much needed expansion and updating. It's getting a much richer feel to the mall and should be very nice once completed. The outside of the mall area is also getting refreshed as well. The mall is getting back to the safe environment it used to be, there was a time you wouldn't want to come here on a weekend night! One of my most "unfavorite" malls. When we first moved to town you could still smoke inside! And many of the floorways were carpeted and so of course-- it just made everything STANKy! Then they passed the clean indoor air act, ripped up the carpets and added a whole new section. It made it marginally better than before with a greater selection of stores but you STILL had to be on your toes as crime was pretty rampant. Funny how I usually ended up in Lenox Square/Phipps. read more

Its a little slow. Would love to see more outlet stores. Hundreds pass Macon to go to Tanger. Macon mall could get some of that business.

After moving from New York to Macon, I found my self in desperate need to indulge in a retail therapy session. I found Macon Mall on Google maps, saw that there were two good anchor stores (Macy's & JCPenny) and decided to stop by without further inquiry. What a disappointment! There's about 10 stores in this mall including those in the food court! Okay, I might be exaggerating a bit, more like 14 stores but a ghost town none the less. There's an Aeropostale, a few sneaker stores, some small bootleg shops and expansive sections of vacant space. Given the central location, this mall seemed to have a lot of potential but at this point it's just a desolate wasteland and most importantly a waste of time. 2 stars because they have a Cinnabon and there was PLENTY of parking (hmm, i wonder why...) read more

This mall is dead. There was about 10 people in the whole mall, including us. The place is very modern and has a charm to it, but there was all of maybe 15 stores in the whole mall, and only like 5 restaurants in the whole food court. The parking was a breeze, but that's because like I said, there was no one here. Bathrooms were clean, security guard ignored me when I asked where the food court was, and the employees in several stores were very friendly. The Subway employee was extremely polite. We caught him right as he was leaving the store to run to the bathroom, and we had to insist that he go ahead and go and that we could wait, because as soon as he saw us he started to turn around to help us. read more

Is it my favorite place to be? No. While the Macon Mall lacks the general amenities people like to see, such as a complete set of anchor stores, the different stores there are enjoyable. There is a clear separation though and the stores on the side with no anchor seem to be failing to attract customers with Victoria's Secret being the only exception. It's a true let down, but with the proposed Bibb County Courthouse coming to the Mall while renovations are underway, Im sure something is bound to rebound this fledgling mall. read more

In Macon for a few hours and wanted to walk and window shop. There wasn't anything downtown so we thought we'd try a mall. Nice looking and clean but very empty. Even the food court didn't have much to offer. Foot traffic is nearly non-existent. Too bad because it could be a great place. read more

How many stars are you supposed to give a dead mall? :( Wow, poor thing... The mall looks like it has received recent renovations, but all the stores are pretty much gone. The new mall owners, Hull Storey Gibson Companies, took over in September 2010, and they have a long road ahead of them. Here's hoping they can make it work! AROGAN SECURITY!!!!!! 04/17/2011 I was just eat and go outside for smoking, not long security lady came to me asked to move from this side with no "NO SMOKING" sign to other side which no "SMOKING AREA OR DESIGNATED AREA" sign. Okay I moved only a few step from what she want to and she still asked to move again while she call for back up like I'm criminal. When I'm done I go inside the mall and she follow me until I meet with security man that she call, we argue, and I just told the security man that I leave instead argue for "NONSENSE. The point of argued is that customer can't smoke outside the mall only tenants even on "designated area" with no "SMOKING AREA OR DESIGNATED AREA" sign!!!. While I'm leaving, the security guy was followed me until i'm outside like I'm criminal need to be guarded. Or maybe I small guy need to be scared off because of smoking. Well basically i'm not a shamed for this even people look at me when security guy follow me until outside, the one should be a shame is the security man and the mall. Anyway I'm not put my foot again on Macon mall property because of this arogan security which only can handle small issue not big issue like to kick out the gangsta from hanging around or to kick out person who not dress up properly. read more
