Machlin Open-Air outdoor flea market is quite interesting. Located in Ontario and we just stumbled upon this while driving around and saw the vendors set up in the parking lot. They are open at 7:30 AM and close at 3PM. Cost of admission was $1 for adults and kids can some in free. Like your typical outdoor flea market, they sell snacks, clothing of all kinds and sizes, toys (new and old) and pets as well. This time I stumbled upon some interesting birds which were quite rare as well as a mini nursery with exotic fruit trees. I did end up just getting some tacos and snacks and bought some t-shirts for fun. Would recommended coming here if you want to see what's new and being sold. Some vendors only allow cash but there are some that will take apply pay. read more

10/6/24 Finally, found what I'm looking for, after walking in purgatory under 102° weather, succulents! Good ole Yelp found this place when i wrote " outdoor swap meet" on search. The reviews are a great mix & I kept looking for photos of succulents. It was hella hot, thankfully I wore a hat, otherwise I would've seared some serious burn on my scalp. I was on a mission and I barely took a lot of photos to show what they have to offer at this open air swap meet. I saw musical instruments like huge drum set deli meat slicer, plants, other parts and craft stuff socks selling for two packs for $5, posters, leather slippers, boots & cowboy hats...you name it, it's there, I think. There were live birds & turtles for sale, too Will return when I am browsing for other things & the weather is not scalding hot. Vendors not helping their animals who are clearly overheating, birds in cages with 20+ other birds of different species. Definitely think there should be some regulation on the animal vendors here, but otherwise the rest of the shops are nice. Drinks are a bit pricey, horchata is $6 but a very low entry fee. read more

The flea market seems smalls but there's actually more space and vendors then it appears. The cost is $0.50 per person to get in. The place offers snacks, used and new clothes, jewelry and more! Mexican lady that sells chinese "good luck" charms and keychains and water Chinese water fountains is a SCAMMER!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY THERE!! We bought a $45 water fountain and she gave us the smaller cheaper one which was not the one we paid for!!! Since we drove an hour to get there we decided to just put up with it use it but when we put water in it, it was leaking everywhere!! I came to check it out. I originally wanted to go to this other swap meet. But ended up here. Not a bad idea. Plenty of parking. But it's in a dirt field. It's .50 cents to get in. Plenty of Knick knacks, toys, collectibles, clothes, decorations, tools, snacks and they also had a pet shop. It's pretty huge. Doubt I'll come back. But I still had a good time. It gets pretty busy so plan ahead for traffic and parking. They have something for everyone. A lot of shops are just repeats because they almost alll carry the same stuff. Prices are the same too. If you park your car on the other side of the road it's dirt. If you park on the market side There is no dirt. No charge for parking. They have a lot of things to sell. For example fruits, vegetables toys pet clothing shoes, and more. It was not very cheap but it's a nice place to hang out. They close early at 3:00 pm. Please arrive early. I've been coming here since I was a kid and I always seem to find something (or plenty of somethings) to buy. On my last visit, I was looking for a stock pot to make tamales. Found a 24 qt for $20 and ended up paying $15 for it. Unbeatable. Of course it's never a complete trip for me without an agua de sandia, bacon wrapped hot dog, and a churro on the way out. Prices are definitely higher than they used to be. I paid $5 for the agua, $8 for each hot dog and $3 per churro. At least the $0.50 entrance fee and free parking never changes. Some Pro Tips: -Bathrooms are scattered around the lot. There's one in the white portable building near the south entrance, another in a small building near the north entrance, and more inside the food court building in the middle of the lot. -You can also find a few ATMs in the food court building if you forget your cash. -They are open every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday from 7:30am - 3pm. -If you arrive past 9:30-10am you'll probably have to park in the field adjacent to the paved parking lot. Not a big deal but a farther walk. I'll be back. Always a nice way to spend a Sunday morning. read more

I was looking for a fun outing with my granddaughter, and this sounded like a perfect place to go. The price of admission was certainly reasonable. While it's true there is a massive amount of merchandise, the only thing we felt like buying were some small bonsai trees and an orchid. Otherwise, most of the offerings were not good. We didn't even walk into any of the booths. It was like going to a marketplace in a different country. The most distressing thing, though were the hundreds of birds for sale who were being mistreated...crammed into cages by the dozens, so that they couldn't even move. We even saw an aquarium that had dozens of parakeets jammed into the bottom of it and a larger parrot sitting in the midst of them, all looking miserable. There is no telling how many of those birds are sick or abused. Literally HUNDREDS of birds for sale...everything from parakeets and cockatiels to ducks and quail, as well as some really beautiful exotic birds I've never seen before. We were very upset and had to stop looking at the bird sellers. I do not know how the ASPCA hasn't shut down the bird sellers. We were too distressed to check out the cattle and larger animals we could hear over in the auction area. It's too bad, because all that space could really be utilized to house an epic flea market/swap meet, but it's mostly taken over with low quality items. We will not be returning. read more

Maclain is a large open air market where you can find anything. From food to hardware, clothing, shoes, birds , plants, furniture and home-goods. Parking gets packed but there are many open fields to park in. Entrance is 50 cents. I came to get freshly roasted peanuts they sell $5 for two pounds bag. I got several. The only shop with a 10 minute waiting line is the roasted peanuts shop. Before you reach the shop one can smell it. Since the pandemic the shop is half its previous size. Taste is awesome and they are sizzling hot in temperature when delivered. read more

Feels just like you're in Mexico. Fun place to spend sunday walking around checking out all the cool stuff everyone is selling like exotic animals, clothes, jewelry, tools, furniture and home items. I saw stuff for super cheap and still was able to bargain. The exotic animals are surprisingly expensive. $4500 for a toucan bird. I said is that in pesos? lol Today was my first time going and I enjoyed it and bought a bunch of stuff for my mom, nieces and nephew and my girlfriend. There's something for everyone. Worth the .50 cents entrance fee. For just going to check it out for the first time, I wasn't planning on spending so much money, but I ended up spending almost $200 on stuff I didn't really need haha read more

It was my first time here and I loved it. The swap meet has plenty of parking, but I recommend you try to park on the paved road instead of the dirt road. The dust can be overwhelming. The entrance fee is $1, please bring cash for entry. There are plenty of ATMs inside the swap meet though, if you need more cash. There were a few options for food if you're hungry while shopping. I recommend a hotdog. A hotdog came with a bacon wrapped hotdog, onion, and jalapeño. It was a bit on the pricy side, but I thought it was really good. Churros are also very good here. You would think how good it can be. It's on the cart. It was probably one of the best ones I've ever had. This is a really good swap meet, guaranteeing you will find what you need for the price you want to pay. You can pretty much negotiate anything. read more

You'll find a great variety of "Chiles fresco or Secos" For your Latin cooking. For the outdoors I've purchased, Queen Palms, Sago Palms lawn furniture too. I'm here often buying food & minerals for all my outdoor greens. I bought a beautiful Money Tree and it's still healthy after one year of purchase. Went here for the first time today. Really interesting place. Since the mask restriction was lifted, there is no requirement to wear a mask if you're fully vaccinated. Walked around to all the vendors, didn't purchase anything as there was nothing that caught my attention. Sorta reminded me of a gigantic garage sale. Maybe will come back, maybe won't. read more

CAMEL RIDES My brother in law got me coming here. It's a bit of a drive for us especially since we come early, but worth it. Everyone I know calls this place the "Chino Swap Meet" even though it's really in Ontario. Anyways. I do recommend coming early because parking can get scarce and you'll wind up parking in the field. Admission is 50 cents and yes, we are still wearing masks. Which is good because it can get crowded. BATHROOMS are hard to find and are really small. So, don't eat or drink too much before. Do try the potatoes from the stuffed potato stand. Not too expensive and decent size. FOOD can get expensive. $7 bucks for a hot dog? COME ON. Do get a bag of roasted peanuts. yum. Also, they do sell animals. Mostly birds. DID I MENTION YOU CAN RIDE A CAMEL? located towards the back fence. read more

You go to the swapmeet looking for deals and the best part about it is having things fresh, it is the equivalent to a farmers' market. You know more less the origins of a product and thats how you develop a one-on-one customer/vendor service. You have a flower lady, you have a guy for good bee honey, you have a lady for work attire like aprons or leather gloves. But my favorite part about this swapmeet and you can't get anything like it so close by are the street hotdogs. As soon as you get close you can smell the grilling onions and the heat from the chillis they grill as well. It's that strong precooking smell your mom has going in the kitchen before she cooks up a big hearty dinner full of flavor but first you have to suffocate in oil fumes and chili smoke. Except this being outdoors those same tortures work more as a warning for the great food that's about to go out in orders. You have to try the street hotdogs, the vendors have been long time vendors here and are regulars, they have two stands but i recommend the one inside the aisles and not the one on the end of the aslies because that one sells tacos too, so the hotdogs aren't as prioritized and their tacos are meh. So definitely grab some from the OG spot in the inside of the aisles and order it with everything you won't regret it. Walking through this swapmeet it starts stinky cuz of the birds and animals they sell here, like a farm smell. But that is soon a thought of the past cuz you get to the first corner where they sell roasted peanuts and we all know how strong that smell is, not bad, just very toasty. Oh but when its corn season ooooo that smell is so so nice. And right next to this stall are the usual popcorn vendors. I highly recommend getting the 2 bags deal and choosing their cheddar and caramel flavors. This popcorn spot never fails and it's no nice to just stand around it because of the sweet smells that come from it. This swapmeet aside from all the good food choices has a few bulk buy vendors so it's always fun to check those out to find even better amazon deals in person. I decided to give this place a try and see if I can find some unique items, but what i ended up findind was beyond animal cruelty. They have birds crammed in cages that should only be suitable for 1 bird if that. They even had street pigeons locked in cages that looked really sick. I almost wanted to buy all the pigeons just to release them, but i didn't want to support this business. Its also interesting that all the bird vendors have signs that pictures are not allowed which i see why. Well I have plenty of pictures that will be sent to the California state board so they can put the pressure on Maclin to ban the sale of animals in this place. read more

There is a vendors that sell tagged products for $2 a piece and the products like shirts and outwear are from Target name products.

People, come on now... You're in chino let alone in a area that is surrounded by many ranches that have cattle and other livestock, quit complaining about the smell. Anyway, this place has tons of parking on both sides of the area and its free! The entrance on the other hand is a small fee of fifty cents. Everyone selling at this location pretty much only carries used and fair conditioned items. There are little food-carts that sell drinks and churros for roughly around $2-3. There are many vendors that sell livestock and other pets, some are even exotic. This place is great if you're shopping for secondhand decor, clothing and discounted food products. If you're looking for new items you're probably not going to enjoy much. I recommend bringing children here that are into petting animals and digging through treasures. read more

You can buy anything from socks to windows. Pretty cool. It's just a weird set up, rows don't go in a straight line. I got a really nice Korean warm blanket for $25 bucks, some nice slippers for $5. Nice one. Alot going on here from enough animals to fill a small zoo: camel donkeys cows horses. A big maze of vendors. Food from roasted corn, like at the fair, baked potatoes and delicious juices I recommend the strawberry one. All from the probably the owner of the swap meet scattered thru out. .., my grandma loves this swap meet haha. W/ a 50 cent entry fee, swap meet lovers alike would dig this place. I've never seen more animals @ a swap meet than I have here. My grandma stocks up on birds whenever she comes here. They usually have great deals. $30 give or take on a cage w/ 2 little love birds. They also have fish, rabbits, chickens, & roosters. Lord knows what other animals they have here. Can't really recall what the othe vendors were selling for I was mainly there for the birds. But I do remember stands that sold t-shirts, sweats, cell phone cases, home products, fabric, & kids clothing. There are also food vendors that sell churros & whatnot. I really love this swap meet. It is ample with lots of parking and the vendors seem nice and helpful. There is a huge selection of exotic birds and animals as well as clothing, toys and other unusual odds and ends. This particular swap meet is far away from me but I do prefer it to others closer to me so I don't mind the drive as much. The live plants are gorgeous and so are the fresh flowers, perfect for sprucing up the home or as a gift for a loved one. read more

I think the reviews on this place are a bit harsh. Firstly, it's 50 cents a person to get in which is a steal. I figured even if we didn't enjoy it, we only shelled out a dollar so it wasn't the end of the world. There's a lot to see here-- furniture, shoes, clothing, food, even real estate. Anything you could think to buy, someone has. New or used, it's there. They even had a shop that had dog clothes and even dog beds that looked like actual people beds, which I thought was too cute. Some vendors had killer deals (I particularly liked the one with various brand new hoodies and tee shirts at reasonable prices) and some were a bit of a miss (selling items I've seen at Walmart for 20 dollars more). It does get very, very warm so dress accordingly. However this had no affect on my review. Parking, I heard, is free. I didn't park as I live walking distance from the market, but you can't beat free parking. There's a lot of cars trying to get into this place on the days it's open so don't expect to walk in no problem. My only complaint was the treatment of the animals. I know that's a fairly common practice (unfortunately) but the poor birds! I had to stop looking at them. It really made me sad. I also saw turtles that were in an open enclosure so everyone was touching them and they were scared. The aguas frescas are very delicious and taste very authentic by the way. We want to go back for that alone! Overall, I liked it. It was something to do at the very least. The animals are for sure very sad to see and if you're bothered by that or have kids who would be upset by that, definitely don't go. Also I wouldn't recommend buying the birds since the other reviewers say they are all sick. I kind of wavered between a 3 and a 4 star here but I figured I'd just take a star off for the birds and other animals, and leave it at that. If you want some yummy agua frescas and a place to walk around and look at stuff, this place will entertain your boredom. Also, yes, it smells like cows. This area always does. This was a very interesting flea market. I've been to my fair share of swap meets, flea markets, farmers' markets, etc. I've been to large ones and small ones. But I'd never been to one that had fresh turkeys and ducks ready to take home for slaughter. It was quite interesting. There were several vendors there that had birds for sale. There were even some cute bunny rabbits. Some of the vendors sold custom made picture frames, nick-nacks of all kinds, food, furniture, and more. There was a hot dog vendor that smelled really good. They were selling bacon wrapped hot dogs. Very yummy. In addition to this food vendor, they had a roasted corn on the cob cart and a fresh roasted peanut booth. The find of the day was an old Simon game. It was quite cheap but batteries were not included. Admission is very cheap too. It only cost us 50 cents. Parking is at a premium. It pays to get here early. Otherwise, you're rounding the parking lot for several minutes trying to catch a spot. This isn't the greatest swap meet ever, but if you're into them it doesn't hurt to come. Oh, and pay a watchful eye to all the flies buzzing around everywhere. UPDATE: We came here again today (12/2) because we had to pick up a picture that needed re-framing. So we took a quick sweep of the place to see if there was anything of interest this time around. I spied a kettle corn place. The name of it is called Delia. She's located near the entry down the first right walkway. This has to be the best kettle corn I've ever had. Not only was it salty and sweet, but the popcorn tasted very light. It was much lighter than any other kettle corn I've had before. So don't miss out the next time you come. See her because not only can you get kettle corn, but you can also get carmel corn, salted popcorn, and cheese popcorn. Mmmm mmm good. read more

It's a very large swap meet/flea market with... birds, bird cages, bird feed, bird houses. I'd say a good 20% of the vendors had various birds and related items. I saw a toucan, geese, multicolored little guys (don't know what kind they were), pigeons, peacocks and many others I couldn't name. There were vendors selling clothes, furniture, vegetables/fruits, toys, second hand items, arts and crafts, toiletry items... hmmm, did I mention birds? The smell of churros and hot dogs was everywhere but that lingered with the smell of the cows at the farm next door. A lot of people were eating bags of mexican wheat chip snacks that you could customize with some type of red chilli sauce. Looked yummy and sour. It definitely wasn't the type of place I would go for my Sunday shopping but it was for a lot of people-- the place was packed! Entrance is $0.50/person.
