Provost is an unusual place, It has about 8 restaurants and 1297 hotels. A quiet town…read more Unfortunately, it wasn't like South Park so there were no hilarious shenanigans going on. The hotel is situated right along the main highway, a short driving distance from many gas stations & restaurants. Since the town is fairly small, I suppose you could say that about anywhere in town. I had never heard of Canalta before this. It looked, and was very well presented in the lobby. The front desk staff were terrific and we were off. I have a very bad track record with hotels, as once again, I was given a room on the third floor while both of the people I was with were placed on the first floor a short walk away. WHY DO HOTELS HATE ME!? The room was awesome. Couch, desk, 2 TVs & a very comfortable bed. Here's the big problem I had : Both TVs were the same brand and model. Therefore, even when I was behind the wall seperating the main room from the bedroom, pushing a button on the remote would affect both TVs. For you non-nerds out there, this is because TVs use an infrared signal that bounces off of surfaces, and like a shotgun shell, spreads out. It gets weaker as it travels, but with a 10 foot bounce, I could still turn both TVs on with minimal effort. That wouldn't be a problem, but that there was no on or off button on either TV. Believe me, I looked everywhere for it. Even the housekeeping staff were smiling and wishing me well each day. I don't think I could even fake that with what some of those perverts were likely doing on those sheets, desks, drapes etc the night before. I was asked throughout the week if I needed my sheets changed etc as I always had the do not disturb sign on my door. Nope. I travel how I live. Sheets and towels are cleaned each week. It's unfair to ask them to do them everyday, plus I hate when the sheets are tucked in haha. I`m the type of redneck awesome that doesn`t require much from life beyond money, nerding out on a computer and playing Halo whilst riding a horse, shooting at watermelons on tree branches, and being fed popcorn out of a golden chalice. I`m pretty low maintenance. Long review, but thank you for a great stay, Canalta.

Well....... There…read moreare a few positives here, so dont let the "three stars" scare ya.... Provost is not a town where you can hit up a Westin or a Hyatt. There are few choices of accommodation. Honestly, i dont know how the Horizon compares to other "motels" in Provost. All I know, is how it compares to other properties I have stayed in. Based on my previous hotel visits go, this is definately the bottom of the barrel. However, in all fairness, the room was less than $90 a night, so i need to compare apples to apples. I gave then three stars based on the following criteria: - the room was clean. I checked out both the bathroom and the bed, and I am happy to report there was no concerns. - no funky smells - it smelled like air. Not mildew, stagnant air or perfumes to mask problems. My nose usually tells me before my eyes tell me, and im happy to say it didnt stink. - free wifi and a flat screen tv - technology always wins points with me. The loss of two stars, quite frankly everything else. The decor was right out of a 1970s movie. I posted pictures of the room, and it was...... Not good. It looks like they decorated at value village. Also, the furniture was not that comfortable either. I can sleep whether i am comfortable or not, but the bed and couch were both a little rickity. They didn't show signs of wear, but when you sat down, you could tell the bed was not a serta sealy or simmons. And the couch had no visible signs of wear, but when you sat on that burgundy plush couch, you could tell it has seen some life. This place is in dire need of a renovation. Also, it could have used an extra piece of furniture for the kitchen appliances outside of the bathroom area. The microwave was under the air conditioner and beside the bathroom sink (again check out pictures). Also, if I was sitting on the toilet with the door open, I could touch the microwave. I wish I was kidding. However, the three things that mattered were all provided (clean, no funky smell and wifi). And you can't beat the price. Breakfast is also supplied, but i did not try it, so I cannot comment, but for those of you who are considering the Horizon for your next Provost visit, the continental breakfast is provided. Last but not least, you pay in "advance" for your room. I guess in a place like this, you don't have to worry about ringing up any amenities. However, they are firm on their policy. You pay on the way in - not the way out. 14/30
