My insurance company was billed for a deep cleaning that I DID NOT receive. I also discovered that the office attempted to bill for a filling on the exact same tooth and surface that they had already billed for and completed previously. When I contacted my insurance company, I was specifically advised NOT to pay the charge and was told that the dental office should know they cannot bill it that way. Even more upsetting, during my son's visit, a healthy tooth was broken during his cleaning. The hygienist acknowledged that it happened accidentally, yet I was then billed to repair the tooth that was damaged while he was in their care. I find it completely unacceptable that we would be expected to pay to repair damage that occurred during treatment. At this point, I have serious concerns about the accuracy and legitimacy of the billing associated with our care. I am filing formal complaints with Heartland Dental, the DSO associated with this office, as well as the Better Business Bureau, and I am addressing the questionable claims directly with my insurance company. My advice to anyone considering this dental office: carefully review EVERY insurance claim, explanation of benefits, treatment plan, and bill. Compare what was billed with what was actually performed before paying anything. After our experience, my family will absolutely not be returning. I wish I had known to scrutinize their billing sooner. Please protect yourself, check your insurance claims, and think very carefully before trusting this office with your family's dental care.

Sending a collection-style bill with no details, no transparency, and no professionalism is incredibly frustrating. This is common practice for chains like this preying on poor people with Medicaid. They intentionally contract with third party doctors who refuse Medicaid to bill in addition to Medicaid payments. While telling us that fillings could work fine, they then tried to scare us into the more expensive crown option with tales of "having to hold her down" if she didn't behave during a cavity filling and that she "couldn't stop" once the filling process started. None of this is true and this is grossly inappropriate patient care for toddlers. The front desk girl thankfully under her breath encouraged us to seek another office for crowns (that accepted Medicaid for payment entirely) if we wanted to go that option. We are reporting this business to the state of Florida for unethical and abuse sales practices and taking our toddler to another pediatric dentist.
