I'm 5'1 and very petite. I work evenings/nights at a hotel and this is the third time the man…read moreworking the overnight shift refuses to let me enter. Both times, I felt completely unsafe standing outside of the store trying to communicate with him through a plexi-glass window. After begging him to let me inside for my safety, he walked away and began sorting through merchandise, completely ignoring me. Why is the store even open at night, if a woman can't buy milk for her coffee in the morning? Absolutely not okay.

"Open 24 hours" is a bit disingenuous I feel. However, according to the server, they only sell gas and cigarettes once they lock their doors. No use to me, since I don't smoke and rarely drive and I was there simply to pick up some milk for my coffee on my way home. I was disappointed of course... and the grinning, almost gleeful "server" behind the window felt more than a tad offensive. Oh well, black coffee it is, then. Next time I need to pick up anything of that nature after hours, I'll be swinging by the Esso on Gladstone and Bank. I've _never_ encountered such a ridiculous policy in the fifteen years since I first encountered these security windows and it crossed my mind as I headed away that the guy was simply being a lazy cuss. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, but it surely wouldn't have killed him to have grabbed a bag of milk out of the fridge and taken my money this once, letting me know of this strange new policy for future reference. I've worked with the public in similar capacity before and know the value of keeping the customer satisfied. This guy obviously doesn't care about representing his employer and the previous good will his coworkers have fostered with me has taken a pretty nasty knock as a result. Lift your game Petro Canada. It is insulting to think that a supposedly Canadian company can fall short of the standards set by multinationals on its own soil.

Circle K - The tiny store is on the right of this gas station.

    Circle K

I was in the Hunt Club area where I stayed the last time I was in Ottawa. I needed a Circle K and…read moredid a search. It led me to this store. This Circle K is a part of an Esso gas station. The station also has a touchless gas station, an air pump, and a vacuum. I parked by the car wash. There were a few spots. I then walked in. Looks are deceiving. I thought that this Circle K would be large. On the contrary, it's small, with as much merchandise packed in as possible. If you are a Tim Hortons fan, you have a lot of coffee flavour choices here. You see coffee in your face when you walk in. Next to it is a fridge with frozen treats. I was here to redeem some coupons. The problem? Nothing that I wanted to redeem was available at this store. There weren't any Froster or Polar Pop machines. There were no Joker energy drinks. AriZona drinks were non-existent. I settled for getting a Mountain Dew in purple thunder. It wasn't a part of the plan. I got a coupon that's available to any customer online. I got a female staffer who was busy counting her change. She was nearly done. I told her to take her time. She scanned my drink, and then my digital coupon. I also scanned my PC Optimum and paid for my $1.13 drink with a debit card. Done! I wished her a great day. She reciprocated. I left with my cold drink. Although disappointed with the beverage selections, customer service is great. My drink was also surprisingly yummy. I expected a huge sugar rush, but it didn't happen. This store is great if you are looking for coffee or a generic pop flavour. If you need something specific, chances are that you won't find it here. (222)
