It's unfortunate that I find it necessary to only rate 2 stars, because when I called for service…read moreBrian @ West End Electric Heating and Cooling promptly dispatched and fixed the problem. I will state that they are prompt, competent and courteous. The problem was with the bill, When I called I (at exactly 1:18pm) I was quoted a job price between $200 - $300 based on an hourly rate of $70/hr for labor... + parts. (I would reasonably assume this would include a trip charge for time to the job site). Brian called me back from the job site (at exactly 1:49pm) to let me know that he was onsite and while the fix required replacing 2 parts, they were not the parts we had originally assumed.... He only had 1 part on his truck and had to pick up the 2nd part. The next time I heard from Brian was at exactly 3:00pm telling me the job was finished, that I owed $300, and of that $70 was for parts. I told him to send me a bill in which he included a breakdown as follows: Parts & Labor $265 7% Tax & Credit Card Reader Fee $34.95 TOTAL $300.00 Based on the discussion(s) and quote he provided, I felt I had been overcharged in several ways...... Parts @ $70 (30% higher than other local plumbers, but I am not disputing this) Labor 1.5 Hrs including travel time to the job, as well as travel time to pick up the additional part he did not have on his truck (verified by phone records) @ 70/hr = $122.50 Tax at the above rate = $13.48 2.9% upcharge (standard rate) for paying by Credit Card $5.97 Total should have been $211.95 I spoke with Brian about this discrepancy, and his explanation was that * In addition to installing the 2 thermostats for an electric water heater, he had to install "new hangers" to hold the parts in place...... * The Credit Card Fee was 5% * I was being charged for the additional travel time back to his home after completing the job. * Since the price was within the parameters of the estimate he provided, it was legitimate, even though the estimate was a range based on the length of time required to perform the work. As I stated above, while the work was performed in a timely and (I believe in a proper manner), I was overcharged $90 for this job, and would warn that you should be careful dealing with this company for that reason.

Well, you could make any number of jokes about their name and they would live up to them all. Last…read moreyear we purchased a home that they did the electrical on and there were plenty of things that needed fixing but most of them were minor and we could easily fix them. But the work they did on the pool was a whole different story. Fist indication of problems was a light that was not getting power for the patio surround. The problem turned out to be that they illegally ran the wires to the lights in the dirt instead of electrical conduit as well they have no junction boxes at the light poles. Instead they wire capped and buried the splices in the dirt leaving them exposed to moisture and of course the wire SHORTED and burnt in the ground. Next we were having the pool liner replaced and in the process they needed to remove the pool lights. That's when we all discovered they faked the electrical conduit going into the ground. It went into the soil 4" and the rest was just exposed wires to the pool. The SHORT of it we now need to excavate tearing up all the pool patio to put in conduit and new wiring. I will give them credit though. They somehow managed to either fool the inspector or had the good ol' boy handshake down. So if you want the job legal call someone else who won't SHORT change the job

These clowns used to go by the name TDS Electric - changing names tells you all you need to know…read more They wired a new house I bought, probably only because the general contractor used who is the cheapest. First the doorbell only worked intermittently because it was wired to a light switch - so switch off - no door bell ! They put a cable box behind a door so you could only use it if the door was closed then charged me $ 100.00 to move it. Finally, all 7 of my smoke alarms went off within a week of each other. They came a day late (after a complete no show on the scheduled date) and said that the alarms were running only off the batteries because they forgot to hard wire them - as required by my local code. After the clown left that fixed it (not sure if it was Moe, Larry or Curly) he kindly left smudges, scratches and fingerprints all over the wall and I had to repaint it. I would not let these idiots replace my flashlight batteries - they would probably put them it backwards !
