As soon as we did that, all the outlets on the entire backside of the house went dead. We tried going through the electrical panel, flipping switches on and off, but really didn't know what we were doing. Nothing worked. I called around to 4 different electricians and they were either unavailable or couldn't fit us in until mid-next week. I stumbled upon Tommy Gunn Electric and rang them up. Although he couldn't schedule us in until August, Tommy tried to help on the phone anyway. He immediately assessed the issue, asked for a photo to be sent to him of the electrical panel, and called me back to walk through what to do. Within moments, everything was up and running. Not a huge, involved fix and probably a small deal for anyone who knows their way around residential electrical work, but we are so extremely grateful and blown away by Tommy's kindness and willingness to help. Here's what he charged me and the cost at Best Buy that day (where he purchased the items, except for the subwoofer, which he just happened to have at his house...he did not leave me with an owner's manual, so I have no idea if it is in fact new, though I haven't had any issues with it) including NC sales tax: * Yamaha subwoofer model# YST-SW216 o $124.89 o He charged $325 * Sony-200w 2 ch Stereo Receiver model #STRDH130 o $106.74 o He charged $250 * Yamaha A/V receiver model RX-V375 o $266.86 o He charged $300 * Total over: $376.51 There were also several cables it looks like he overcharged me for; but in comparison to the above, they are minor. Also, as I don't have the exact model numbers, and as he wouldn't give me even a copy of his receipts, I don't know for sure, and don't want to be inaccurate. Ultimately, he was dishonest. He took advantage of my inexperience and lack of knowledge to pad his pockets, and became indignant when confronted with his unethical actions. Despite a $100 "refund," he still overcharged me by $275 and left me unable to register/use the manufacturer's warranties for any defects.
