The park itself includes multiple sections for all ages including the main playground which was designed to be an inclusive space and follows the American Disabilities Act standards for public playgrounds. A new toddler play area which is perfect for babies and toddlers. There is also the Union Pacific splash pad which is only open during certain months of the year, so make sure to check their calendar for hours. They also have a sand play area, as well as another section with small games like ping pong, chess and many more games. Overall, this garden/park offers a wide range of outdoor activities for people of all ages. I've been taking my kid here since he was born and as he is growing and exploring new areas of Yanaguana I can truly see how well thought off this park is. To all the locals that don't travel to downtown too often, I would definitely recommend giving this park a chance before winter comes. Also, for all the tourists coming with little ones that need the space to run around for a couple of hours, this is most definitely the spot for you!

The reason why I am not giving them 5 stars is because parking is a nightmare. There are not enough parking spots to fit the crowds that come here. Between the soccer classes, birthday parties and the morning walkers, parking is super hard to get and you might have to be driving around a couple times until you get one. If it wasn't because of the birthday I was going, I would've turned around and go back home. Regardless, this is an amazing park and highly recommend for anyone with kids as little as 2 - 12.

If you are already in the area, it's probably not a bad place to go for a walk, but also be conscientious of your surroundings with plenty of homeless in the immediate area. Travis Park is a square park that is bounded by Pecan on the north, Jefferson on the east, Travis on the south, and Navarro on the west. There are walkways that emanate from the circle in the center of the square in all cardinal and intermediate directions. Think of a compass, and that's pretty much what the park looks like from an overhead perspective. The park was kind of boring, at least at the time I went, but while searching Google Maps, I saw that it turns into an ice rink around winter time, so I'm sure it would have been a sight to see children skating around during the Christmas holiday season. I went during the summer when temperatures reached triple digits, so there wasn't much activity going on when I stopped by. Somewhere in the park, there was a water fountain, and next to the fountain was a station for filtered water. I didn't bother to use it because I wasn't carrying a water bottle with me at the time, so I can't comment on the quality of the water there. The park also has a map of downtown San Antonio, so if you're not sure where to go, consult the map, which will show where the park is as well as other places to visit, like of course, the Alamo! However, please keep in mind that map is upside down, meaning that when you go up on the map, you're heading south, not north. Don't lose your sense of direction! However, if you're traveling together as a family, but somehow break off in different directions, this would make for a good, though not ideal, spot to meet up. Rules of the park are posted on a sign. Hours are 5 AM to 11 PM daily. No loud music or alcohol allowed on the premises unless you have a special permit. Lastly, dogs are only allowed in the dog park, a small gated enclosure. The dog park has its own set of rules, including one that says, "Dogs in heat." That rule I'm sure is open to multiple interpretations due to the vagueness of the word "heat". Hopefully, the City of San Antonio will consider rewording that to include perhaps a numerical figure to further clarify the meaning of that rule. It was a nice little getaway from my hotel, but I'd say it wasn't worth it to walk that far in the midst of a heat wave. 5 stars out of 10, but I'm rounding up to 3 out of 5 since it's one of a few places downtown that provides a nice break from the hustle and bustle of city life. Plus, I'm sure it'd be a lot more festive with the ice rink!

What would make this park better is if they had restrooms on site, other than that it's worth stopping by.
