I enjoy coming to this trail for a quick walk. There is plenty of parking (except when soccer games are in full swing) and the paved trail is well maintained and clear of debris. The trail is relatively flat and approximately two miles-depending on where you're parked. It's dog friendly with plenty of trash bins and bag stations to pick up after your furry kids. read more

Easy walks thru the basin when there is no standing water. Beautiful nature, a little highway noise.

it's an old park built around the 1920s as part of the olmos dam project to prevent flooding dowtown again after it flooded circa 1920s. it has older style stone picnic tables and bbq pits. this park is also connected to the trails. it has all the usual amenities but wifi. it's also hot and humid because the basin is like a bowl that retains heat and water. so if it ever floods again like it did in 98 or 02 when the water was as high as the tall baseball fence there it will probably be closed for weeks to let the water level subside and dry out. and please slow down there are people with pets. read more

I was looking for a midpoint to meet a teacher friend to give her gifts for teacher appreciation week and my husband suggested this place. We thought about walking after the meeting too so we thought we'd check this place out. It's a very spacious place and full of shade. There were so many trees to provide the shade. Plenty of parking spaces. Many were out with families to picnic and celebrate Mother's Day. The picnic areas were definitely a good social distance away. The river had very clear waters and looked pristine. The sad part was seeing the amount of trash by the river banks. Not sure if it was swept there during the rain or if people visiting the park, left the trash. Either way, it was a sad sight to see. This park has a section for a sports complex. I didn't walk into that area to have a closer look. It's a park to enjoy picnicking with family and friends. I wouldn't really recommend it for walking trails. The only noticeable path I saw was next to the street. read more

A hidden gem. Absolutely beautiful park. I love all the mature oak trees in the picnic area. They provide plenty of shade on the hottest San Antonio summer day. There are a few areas set up for large family cookouts. A nice little playground for the kids. This place is never overcrowded. Lots of sports fields, that are very active. A nice trail for a relaxing walk or run while experience the serenity only mother nature can provide. read more

Best dog park. It's clean and everyone seems to do a pretty good job and keeping it that way.

This is probably my favorite park in San Antonio for a number of reasons: beautiful, mature Oak trees, plenty of shaded picnic tables, some serious sport areas and a nice, long trail that wraps around one huge section of the park. My husband and I found this park on a lazy Sunday and spent about 20 minutes walking the trail... we didn't even get all the way around the circle! That means that, for someone who gets easily bored, you aren't walking past the same groups of people numerous times. Sweet. The park also has a nice playground area and tons of picnic tables. You really feel like you are in the country, even though you're right off the freeway. There are also quite a few soccer fields and a big softball field, all of which are lit. For walking and family picnics, I don't think you can get a better park than this one. The trees are gorgeous and, even though you are only about 2 minutes from Quarry Market, it feels like you are completely out of the city. I love it! read more

This is one of our favorite parks. The shade is great for a walk. If you have kids this is a great park for a bike ride.

The SA Polo Association was holding a fund-raising event for the underprivileged children they teach polo to. I have never watched a polo match live and this was pretty interesting. It started with the kids knocking a ball around, them the novices and then pro-am. Ursula Pari of KSAT news is the president of the SA Polo club and played in the pro-am. The SA Polo Club is 94 years old! It was a interesting event with Ferrari as the main sponsor. Of course, there were two cars on display. Also a silent auction and for $150 you could have a buffet put on by the Palm restaurant. Among the other vendors present were Tamale Addiction, La Panderia and Alamo beer. We opted for the $20 general admission. It was fun to watch the people. Some of them I believe thought that they were at the Kentucky Derby. There was a hat contest. Nice crowd. read more

Lush oaks protect you from the blazing sun, while a perfectly flat, manicured path makes it easy strolling for those who might need more flat accommodation. The park is large and beautifully manicured, but still has a wild edge that feels very natural. This park offers an escape from the city, but is pretty much smack dab in the middle of it. Down in a basin (duh) in the middle of Alamo Heights, I actually never knew it was there until I had to go for an event recently. Even though it's next to 281, it's so much deeper that you wouldn't even know there's a major highway right alongside it. There's really not much to see at this park, though. While it's luscious green fields are seemingly never-ending and there's plenty of space for large crowds, it's more of a park for recreational sporting games like flag football, kickball, rugby, etc. It's very well maintained and buzzing with active people- so a solid option when you want to get outside and be physical, but maybe less so when you're looking for entertainment like hills, playgrounds, swings, and the like. read more

Personally, you can't find a better park to take the dog for a walk in the neighborhood, or watch rugby players, or watch football players, or watch soccer players, or watch people fly airplanes, or watch people fly kites, or job, or ride your bike, or Rollerblade, or meet interesting people, or create fun adventures under bridges. A great park in the middle of downtown San Antonio! It's in a giant flood basin, with Olmos Dam creating the flood area. They have running trails, soccer goals, and places to let the dog run! The place is huge, so it's a great place for team sports. There's lots of parking along Devine, and there's a lot off of Dick Frederich. There aren't any playground structures or monkey bars or anything like that, which is a bit of a bummer. But, it's in a flood zone, and this place gets covered in flood water every few years. The park is lit at night, up until about 10p or so. The park is in good condition, mowed regularly, and green. The park is clean, and there's plenty of trash cans. The restrooms at the end of the parking lot on the south side of the park is functional, but just don't hang out there. The Alamo Heights Nature Trails roam around on the east side of the park, but it's a bit of a hike to get through to them, but the area back there is fun to explore. read more

I've been here many, many times and logged several miles on the trail. It's a gorgeous place. The trees shade you as you go, you can set up at a picnic area, watch a soccer game, or do like I do and show up with dog on a leash and run for an hour. I will admit that a few years ago, my car was broken into in the parking lot while I was running with my pup. Make sure you don't leave anything valuable inside while you're out getting some exercise (here or anywhere, of course). However, I've been several times since that were just glorious, so I think it may have just been a freak thing. This park gets packed on the weekends, so if you're looking for solitary training time for a long run you may be better off showing up in the wee hours of the morning. But, whenever you go, you are sure to have a great time enjoying the fresh air! read more

Nice, serene walk on the trail. Family oriented park. It amazed me to see so many families outside actually playing sports, bbqing and enjoying good times. I was just out doing a routine jog/run/walk on the trail and just admired the togetherness that I witnessed. I would definitely recommend this park to anyone that wants to go to a place for family fun or just going out for a run. The trail is a decent length and leads over to another park where they often have sports going on such as soccer or American flag football. These trails are really nice, clean and well taken care of. It's nice and motivational to actually see people outside doing activities instead of being in the house all weekend and not sharing any family time. I'd rate this park/trail a 5/5 for a good time. read more

This place is a gem inside the loop. The new walking trail and parking lot have improved the facility immensely. The family and I love to walk, run, hike & bike in and around it. You can catch some entertaining soccer & flag football games on the weekend. Mosquito's can be intense so take bug spray...after all it is located in a flood plain. read more

I absolutely love running here. Whether you enjoy running around a large track, or taking it off-road, there are many options here for novice as well as more adventurous runners. The area feels safe (I've seen both olmos park as well as Alamo heights policeman patrolling the area), and there are always plenty of fellow joggers around. read more

Great place for kids and it is nestled in a great shady area. I play at the field with my kickball team and always have a nice time. They do have a pretty good police force so it is great for joggers or people walking the dogs. Go with some friends and have a pic nic, unlike other big big parks it has a quietness to it that is very pleasing read more

I really like this local park. It's in the heart of the '09, yet it's never been too crowded when I've been. There are lots of picnic tables to eat and hang out at. Also, around the soccer fields is a 1 mile sidewalk track which I really enjoy. Would be nice if there were some biking trails ... maybe one day! read more

I've played kickball here and at Rusty Lyons for a few seasons now. This field/park are LOADS better than Lyons. The grass is actually fairly green with little roots to trip you. The fields seem to be pretty well maintained. The bathroom 'facilities' (one lone porta-potty) could be improved upon, though. read more
