This park is located near the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History and is home to the Arkansas Korean War Veterans Memorial. It spans 36 acres and is known as Little Rock's first public park and dates back to 1892. It was renamed after WWII hero, General Douglas MacArthur, in 1942. Given its historic significance you will find a number of historic markers and memorials on the park's grounds. The park seems like they periodically maintain it, but that some areas have been lacking lately. There were areas of the park's grass that were not mowed and trash was overflowing in parts by the pond. This park is home to a very nice playground that has some realitivley new equipment that includes a saucer swing, a huge jungle gym with slides, an interactive game station, some percussion instruments, and a small jungle gym with a sway fun glider and a slide. The area has the mud free rubber surface on the ground and there are blue awnings over some of the equipment to provide shade. Of course there are benches at the playground for caregivers to sit on. The benches have shade coverings as well. It is a very nice area as I mentioned. The park has a stocked fishing pond and there were tons of people fishing while I was there. And I saw many of them actually catching fish. You will see an amphitheater and a fishing pier along the pond. The park also features a nice paved trail to run, walk, bike or hike. You can also use it to take your fur baby for a walk. Just be aware that much of the trail is in the open and has no shade. Other park amenities include a gazebo, a shelter that is available to rent, Contemplation Gardens, a restroom facility, tons of green space and a bocce court. The green space is suitable for most field activities including soccer, football, playing catch, or tossing a frisbee. This is a very nice park that is located on the outskirts of Little Rock. You could easily spend a half of a day here or more. It could use a tad bit more maintenance though. What makes this park more special is its historical background. It is rich with history. I would classify this as a destination park and highly recommend checking this place out. read more

A lovely park for a stroll before heading to the airport. Historic markers all over, which told me such information as the fact that it was the first public park in Little Rock, and renamed for Gen. MacArthur after the war. Clean, historic, well kept, and right off the interstate, this is a wonderful park with some non-standard play equipment which I could see being very fun for a child. read more

MacArthur Park reviewed using one word: "Disturbing". If Tom Waits were to visit this park, I think he'd say, "Walk'n with a limp." Most of the Yelp reviews are some 5 years old. It appears that someone has absconded with the money allocated for maintenance and repair. The park is dilapidated and unloved. Grass needs to be cut, ponds need to be cleaned, walks repaired and the trees need to be pruned. (Call me a scaredy-cat, but I just don't like walking in tall grass unless I'm wearing boots - so the park had the subliminal threat of being snake-bit at any moment for me.) There are monuments scattered about. The one dedicated to the confederate soldiers that perished in the Civil War had to be removed because it was vandalized. God forbid that the descendants of the Confederate soldiers have a monument to their past! (I have always appreciated the graciousness of Lincoln's treatment of the South after the Civil war - and the manner in which MacArthur treated the Japanese after the WWII surrender. Neither Lincoln or MacArthur was required to forgive and respect the Confederates or the Japanese, but they did. That's who we are.) I enjoyed the park as a study in what happens when little thought is given to aesthetics and design. The park is no doubt the dividends of poor leadership and/or lack of funds to support the project. While the park is "Not Good" - you should still visit it to see the eclectic monuments and the astonishing disrepair. The Douglas MacArthur Museum is in the park and is "a must see". (Sofie and I have visited a few "must see" attractions that are not really "must see" - [like this park] - but the museum is a "must see" which resides in a "not necessary see") You will have to see for yourself. read more

Great spot for kids to play during your road trip from TX to TN. Park was clean and has lots of unique and fun playground equipment. The swing sets were awesome! Bathrooms were as clean as can be expected for a park. Easy parking, close to a gas station, and some shade. Not too far from the interstate. read more

I'm confused by the positive reviews. I guess they've never had a grown man harass them in the park. Or try to take a stroll around the pond which is now an encampment. You couldn't pay me enough to even approach the bathrooms. read more

Great little park for walking your dog. Visit the General MacArthur's museum while visiting the park.

The city would be wiser to invest in this downtown park. Lots of potential, but nothing much to offer. The sidewalks and pathways need to be repaired and modernized, lighting is needed, more gardens and sculptures, more public art, paint and repair buildings and infrastructure, clean up and better maintain the small pond... more benches and better lawn care. Come on Little Rock! You can do this. Get help from local business owners and corporate partners. The area around the park should be invested in as well. Clean up the trash and find investors for the rundown homes and buildings in the area around the park. read more

Nice park. Noah's review is spot on so be sure to read it in full. Otherwise I'll add what I can. Museum is probably the main attraction you see. Well manicured grass and trees. Few points of interest such as local history and various placards. Geese and Ducks doing their park routine. Little pond to walk around or sit and relax at. Dog park nearby that is extremely well laid out. Wish I was on a work trip with my Pup just to bring him here. Street parking available as well as a dedicated parking lot at the entrance. Playground. General park. The side closer to the gas stations has people loitering generally from my experience. Asking for change etc. Public space is a public space. Felt safe here and enjoyed my afternoon and evening strolls. Worth a visit! read more

Nestled between I-630 and I-30 in a quieter park of downtown, this little gem is one of my favorite haunts in Little Rock :) It's not as central as River Park, or as epic as Burns Park, but it's absolutely everything a quiet, downtown park should be - nice, well maintained, easily accessible, and with a variety of different spaces for folks to use. It's also nice because it's rarely crowded. MacArthur park has a Dog Park, a quiet perimeter trail, a small lake, a large gazebo, and several larger fields for frisbee, soccer, or just sitting in the sun. There's also a small hard-court that the local Bike Polo players have adopted, but also sees use as an evening pickup-soccer space because it has lights and is an alternative when the field is too wet to play on. Heck, MacArthur even has an Art Museum in it! Definitely worth swinging by for a quiet walk. Bonus points from me because while dogs are always welcome on-leash, the fenced dog park is a great off-leash area to let your furry friends go mutts! I mean, nuts! Extra special bonus points for being less than two blocks walk from Stone's Throw Brewing ;) **I just learned that there's also park-wide free wi-fi. Work break? Outdoor conference call? read more
