Best of all, the food is fantastic and actually exceeds some of the MLB parks at which I've eaten! The brats, the funnel cakes, the ice cream, the fried Oreos, and the make-your-own shaved ice are all exceptional! And the Travelers team store is spacious and well stocked! They even have berm seating with benches on the grassy hills behind the home run fence! This has become my favorite Double-A park in the United States!

This massive park in North Little Rock was originally used as a WWI training cam\p for soldiers,…read morecalled Camp Pike. The park was expanded in 1937 for WWII training and that one is called Camp Robinson. Some remnants of that activity still exist and there are warning signs everywhere about unexploded ordinance. So that's pretty awesome. Renamed in 1950 after local physician William Burns, the park has all sorts of outdoor activities including soccer fiends, tennis courts, TWO golf courses, basketball courts, a disc golf course, baseball fields, trails, picnic areas and picnic pavilions. There are a few public restrooms throughout the park and it is linked to an RV Park and Campground. They even have an Arkansas River boat launch! We were here for the covered bridge and found it, but that is separate. In the meanwhile, it was nice to wlak around the park, sticking to the trails. The warning signs were plenty warning for us! I have the slightest "idear!" But, here's my two cent's worth anyway! I've visited Bear Stadium twice (and counting) at this point and I'm pleased with the fact that there is ample covering from the elements and sunlight, there's no bad seat in the house, the concession offerings are decent (I think!), and the field and facilities are clean and well kept. Oh, and the bear painted on the field is also a nice touch! Like I said, baseball stadiums are new to me, but I like it here! :0)

The Old Mill is a beautiful spot in North Little Rock, AR amongst a charming neighborhood…read more It's listed as a National Register of Historic Places. Rightly so... the mill is supposedly the "last standing structure" from the movie "Gone With The Wind." The gates opened at 8 AM. Entry was free. By the time we got there, a small group was already taking professional-like photos of their model. The landscaping was nicely manicured. Some of the plants and flowers or trees were labeled with little signs. My girls liked climbing up into the replica "water-powered grist mill." We didn't stay long as dogs were not allowed on the grounds. Our dog stayed in my Jeep while the air-conditioning was on since it was in the upper 80s already. Plenty of neat animals and fish to see. A little gift shop as well. This place is free, which is honestly one of the best parts (in THIS economy!!). Perfect stop for elementary-aged kids to explore and learn. It's clean and there is plenty to see. Great find in downtown Little Rock - you just have to take the stairs or elevators behind the co-working space to access it!

I had some time to kill and stumbled across this place. This place is a first class nature center…read moreand the best thing about it is that it is free. It is situated behind the Museum of Discovery. It is kind of a weird spot to get to. You take a long walkway/overpass to an elevator, which you take down and then you are at the Center. They have a few picnic tables to sit at in the little plaza area in front of the Center. The Center opened in 2008 and spans 16,232 square feet . Parking here is pretty easy. You will find metered street parking in front of the walkway leading the the center and also in a reasonable walking distance. The meters run from about 8AM to 6PM and are free all other times, including weekends. This Center has an exhibit on fishing lures, trappers, an aquarium with native fish, stuffed eagles, live snakes, live turtles, and has the ultimate goal of explaining the role of fish and wildlife management. The Center also has a staff information booth, a gift shop, and a muti-purpose room that they were playing a movie on a loop. The staff there was very friendly. This was a nice and unexpected stop. A diamond in the rough. It was very informative, for adults a kids alike. I highly recommend checking this gem out. I spent about a half an hour here and enjoyed every minute.

This is a pretty place to come with the kids, the dogs or just by yourself…read more Lake Willastein is a man-made lake/earthen dam created in 1942 which perhaps why there are several military-looking bunkers spread around. There's a jogging track, a few piers to fish from, a kids playground and hiking trails that lead back into the woods. There's 53 acres to explore and I have been told, an excellent 4th of July fireworks display held by the water.
