Luckily, I found McCullough Sparks and after confirming that Lee and Randy are licensed in California, I made an appointment for a consult. I knew within minutes of my initial consultation, I found the right people to work with. Two out of the four other law firms I consulted with are considered the best in field and one of them is internationally known in regards to asset protection. Regardless of the other firms' reputation, not one of the lawyers I consulted with held a candle to Randy and Lee's ability to creatively find solutions for the challenging needs of my trust. I have found both Lee and Randy to be very professional, reasonable in fees, understanding, and unusually creative. Since creating my trust, they have been receptive to any additional questions and concerns I've had. Randy has also just helped me make an update to my original trust. It took me several weeks to find this law group and I am so glad I did not settle with a law firm until I was completely comfortable. Had I been impatient, I would have gone with a firm that would have been twice the price for significantly less satisfying results in regards to future trust management. I give McCullough Sparks my very highest recommendation. They have completely changed my attitude towards the general reputation of lawyers. They break the mold and have been a huge blessing to myself and my family.

The Traffic Ticket Guy - Speed Limit?

I ultimately paid a $180 fee instead of facing jail time or significant fines. The situation started after I bought a brand new car that was the same make, model, and color as my previous one, just a few years newer. I believed I could transfer my existing plates since they were already registered to me. While taking the new car out, I briefly lost traction for less than a second. I was not speeding. I was pulled over by an officer who immediately escalated the situation and issued multiple citations. Even after I explained that the plates were mine and showed registration for the other vehicle, as well as a purchase receipt to show I was waiting for the title to register it. I was given several tickets for exhibition of speed, using plates from another vehicle, and failure to operate in one lane rather than being informed of the proper DMV process despite the real incident and proof. Matt stepped in and handled everything professionally. He was able to get the charges reduced and protect my license, which I am extremely grateful for. Communication could be improved as his responses were sometimes very delayed, but he did follow up before court and delivered real results when it mattered. If you want someone who knows how to navigate the system and fight for a fair outcome, Matt is absolutely worth it.

During our phone call, he made it sound like he would work with the prosecutor to arrange a deal where the ticket would go away after six months with a small fine. There was no mention of traffic school or that I would need to sign a formal plea-in-abeyance agreement. When he later sent me the plea agreement, I was surprised to see the traffic school requirement included, since that hadn't been discussed. The "small fine" he referred to also turned out to be the standard $280 plea-in-abeyance fee paid directly to the court, which I understand is the same amount I likely would have paid even if I had handled the case myself. Having been through traffic court before and having a clean driving record, I knew this was a very standard deal that I likely could have received on my own by appearing in court. I texted him to let him know that traffic school and signing a plea agreement hadn't been explained beforehand and that this was something I could have handled myself. He didn't respond to those concerns and continued sending the agreement for signature. I eventually signed it, but not happily, because I ended up paying for representation that mainly saved me the trip to the courthouse. My advice: if you have a clean driving record and are comfortable appearing in court yourself, you may be able to get the same outcome without paying attorney fees. This service was really only helpful in avoiding a court appearance.

During a critical court case involving his situation, the firm failed to appear at the scheduled hearing. I had to call the attorney myself to ask where they were. When they finally arrived, they were completely unprepared. As a result of how the case was handled, my grandfather was ultimately forced to leave his home and move into a retirement facility, where he later passed away. Although Randy later took over the matter and refunded our payment, the damage had already been done. I also retained the firm for a separate criminal matter. I was advised to plead no contest and was told that after five years the record could simply be expunged. When the time came to pursue expungement, I was told they would contact the city prosecutor. Months passed with no updates. My emails went unanswered, and my calls were not returned. Eventually, the attorney handling my case left the firm and apparently did not transfer any meaningful information. Afterward, I was charged again to continue the expungement process, only to be told a week later that there was nothing they could do. No meaningful follow-up was made, and even a simple call to the prosecutor's office was declined. While they offered to refund the second charge, that does not compensate for the wasted time, lack of communication, or the consequences of the legal advice I was given regarding the plea. In both matters, I experienced poor communication, lack of preparation, and a failure to follow through. I cannot recommend this firm based on my experience.

He was very responsive, asked the right questions, and kept things moving. He sent a strong letter to the insurer with citations to Utah law and made it clear he was prepared to file a complaint. Neil contacted the county attorney, got the county attorney to order my immediate release on my own recognizance (OR) and also negotiated that I did not need to pay any bail. The false statement was one of the reasons why it was originally decided to keep me in jail without being able to bail out. It was Neil Skousen that saw the false statement and brought it to the attention of the county attorney. The county attorney falsely claimed they saw it first but after further investigation that was not the case. It was tortuous being in jail for 23 hours. As I said law enforcement was trying to keep me in jail for at least a week without being able to bail out based on easily provable false allegations which the police did not apply any scrutiny to and and also based on the false statements that the police made on their reports and affidavit of probable cause. I was praying all Thursday night and Friday morning and afternoon. I talked to my wife on the phone on Friday afternoon and she said she had a good feeling after talking to Neil Skousen. Later on in Friday afternoon I felt like this time God was going to answer my prayer and I prayed again "in the name of Jesus Christ, I command the powers of darkness to disperse and that I can get out of jail." Then within 2 hours I got a knock on my cell door and was told I was being released. I then heard the law enforcement officers that work at Sanpete County Jail say 3 times, "THIS NEVER HAPPENS" in reference to me being released in the manner that I was released. Neil also told my wife that we didn't have to hire him if we didn't want to and he was happy to help me get out of jail and we didn't have to pay him for what we did. Of course we hired him but I wanted to make a point he didn't do it just to get paid, he did it primarily to help us whether he got paid or not. Then Neil was instrumental in getting the charge DISMISSED with PREJUDICE and closing the case. Thank you for your help Neil Skousen.
