I am a fiend for macarons. They are so delicious and so notoriously difficult to make perfect at home that you sometimes have to just throw in the towel and leave it to the professionals. Passed by multiple times, even a few walk ins to take a peek but I finally bought a box of 6. So happy I did! These are the best macarons I've tried, with zero weird filling inside to ruin the bite. All of my macarons were fresh and soft - but FYI they will not last in that box, and will get crunch quickly. Plan ahead if you don't eat them all at once. I loved all my choices - birthday cake, mimosa, chocolate, pistachio, lemon lavender and coffee. You can buy only one or larger boxes as well. Service was fast and friendly. We were staying down the street, and wanted a little sweet treat after dinner. We stopped in Macaron Bar, and what a delight!!! They have about a dozen different flavors, including vanilla, black raspberry, pistachio, Oreo, salted caramel, birthday cake, and more. We got several flavors to share, and they were each little crispy, chewy mouthfuls of fun!!!! If you've never tried one... go and treat yourself. This cute quaint macaron bar in NULU was a pleasant surprise. With clean decor, it's simply the most adorable shop on the street. The presentation case is very simple and pleasing. I'm giving 4 stars due to it being completely opened and there being flies in the establishment. There was also a sign saying they were closed in the middle of that day. Macaron bar is as the name suggests a macaron bar that serves macarons. Located in the popular Nulu neighborhood of a Lousiville Kentucky. You walk into this establishment and there is a display of all the flavors at a counter and two small tables with chairs. Thai past Saturday my family and some family friends came to this establishment as our friends have had macarons before and loved them. I had personally never had a macaron so I said "let's do it" We both ended up with a box of 6 with different flavors and variety. My dish here best friend also got a European Meringue. She let us all sample it and The meringue to me tasted like cotton candy to me. Very soft and sweet flavor. In our variety pack I personally played it save and stuck with a chocolate flavor. Very interesting. Cookie to me. I did like it. It reminded me of a s'more except much more rich and smooth textures. Not crunchy at all. I also sampled my daughters "birthday cake" flavor and liked it as well. Overall everyone came away impressed with the taste and it was a cool experimental tasting experience. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back or trying other macarons. My biggest issue would be for the substance they are very pricey. Basically $2.50 a macaron. So it is Steep for a small snack. Macarons... my first taste of them was at Pierre Herme in Paris ages ago. That is a pretty high bar to set, they are famous and deserve the accolades they receive. When I was walking down Market Street I came in on a whim. Lately, I am not into desserts and don't eat much sugar but just felt this would be a good experience. I was not wrong! Once you enter, there is a welcoming heart warming smell that hugs your soul. Just super yummy. The flavors available include a few seasonal ones but I was drawn to my favorite. Madagascar Vanilla. A good Vanilla is better than anything. I also chose Dark Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Toasted Coconut, Black Raspberry Chocolate and Lemon Lavender. They were all delicious but I must say that the Madagascar Vanilla was all it promised to be - creamy, with a deep Vanilla flavor. It just melted in my mouth and was to die for. The Salted Caramel was also exceptionally delicious. Their Macarons are just as delicious as the ones I tasted in Paris. Worth it! read more

Cute place! I've walked in before and just browsed. I came again on Thursday afternoon and there were no other customers. The place is bright with a teal color on the walls. They've got a few different types of macarons you can buy. It's a bit pricey but worth it. You can't go wrong with any. Everything here tastes good. They change some of the flavors out, but I feel like most of them are the same ones I've seen a few months ago. Still, it's a great place to go if you're hoping to buy it as a gift. Anyone whose got a sweet tooth will love this! Customer service was great! They were patient as we tried to decide what we wanted. There was an eggnog one that both girls at the counter said they didn't like. But it was because they don't like eggnog and it tastes so much like it! Haha! I think I have found my new favorite dessert. I have always wanted to try macarons but there are not a lot of places in Louisville that has them. I noticed Macaron Bar while visiting NuLu and had to make a stop. The store reminds me of an Apple Store because it's white everywhere. The only difference is there are pops of color from the macarons. I went with a box of 12 and a box of six so everyone in my party could try them. I was expecting it to be like an Oreo where the cookie is hard and the cream is soft. I was actually very surprised when I found out it was very soft. The man that took my order was very friendly. He helped me pick out which ones to try and was just very pleasant in general. I'm not going to sugar coat it (dessert pun, I know I'm lame) they are expensive. The boxes I bought were $40 dollars. Yes, I am aware that I was stupid and spent that much on cookies, but I was buying them for other people as well so I was being a good person. I'm glad Louisville has a designated place to go to for macarons. I will gladly come back but I won't be spending that much money next time. read more

My friends ordered me a box for my bday so sweet as were these macarons! It was an assortment consisting of birthday cake, black rasberry chocolate, dark chocolate, earl grey tea, madagascar vanilla, pistachio, red velvet and salted caramel. I don't like chocolate in general so none of those falvors were great to me though the black rasberry was interesting. The chocolate filling was too overpowering for me though. Also not a fan of pistachio so i won't really talk about those since i am bias. Plesantly surprised about the birthday cake since i thought it was going to be overly sweet since my 'birthday cake' anything tend to be too sweet for me and i am not a huge sweets person. Overall the rest were just sweet enough. Salted caramel actually didn't have that overpowering caramel taste i was hoping for. Red velvet was nice! Earl grey was interesting but i probably wouldn't get it again. Madagascar vanilla was basic and simple. Vanilla, caramel, birthday cake and red velvet were my favors because i am basic and need generic not overly sweet flavors. All of these were made well, nice bite and you can taste the crunch without it breaking apart that's how you know it's a good macaron. Light until you start eating 3 at a time haha. The location is right on Market Street nestled around other shops and restaurants and distilleries, so plenty of other non-macaron action nearby - but they're the star of the show here. Lots of different flavors to choose from, including a couple of seasonal flavors that rotate out. Otherwise it's the same cast of flavor options you can see listed on the website. The seasonal option they had during my visit was S'mores, which I highly recommend. Also a big fan of birthday cake and red velvet, you can't really go wrong there. Prices are pretty well in line with everything else in NuLu from what I can tell as a first time visitor - not cheap, but if you're hanging out in the neighborhood you knew that already. Service was stellar, store is small, clean, and quiet. Definitely worth a stop if you need a little dessert fix. read more

Macaron Bar has a ton of flavors! Some of my favorites are the Pistachio, Red Velvet, Toasted Coconut, Birthday Cake, Coffee, Salted Caramel, and Fahrenheit 513 (which is a spicy concoction). However, I've tasted macaroons from San Francisco, New Orleans, Paris, and other patisserie's within the American SE and have ONLY found THIS gem worthy of any 5 stars!!! They might not be cost effective for some; but, you'll NEVER experience a closer bite of Heaven; or, leave feeling more indebted to them for the privilege! I remain grateful to this company and to its amazing treats that give moments of happiness in every bite with their most delectable treats. They ended up being sooo much better than I thought! At first, they look like they have a hard exterior. However, they're very soft and sweet, with a cream-like filled inside. Their packaging and decor is almost as cute as the macarons themselves. I made it a goal to try some of their more unconventional flavors, like Earl Grey or Black Raspberry. Both turned out to be great! In fact I liked them better than some of the more stereotypical flavors. They have the slightest crunch, and are fluffy - always true to flavor. However this is not a place to sit down and enjoy your order. There is space for a few tables in the shop, but they are absent. I understand that this is probably a business decision, but it leaves the shop looking bare because of the large empty space. It's also nearly silent in the store, which is jarring for a shop that looks so colorful and vibrant visually. Something to fill this space and make it look and feel more lively would be appreciated. read more

This is a fun addition to NuLu and has such delicious confections. The store itself is very modern and clean in its aesthetic. There's a counter for ordering macarons, and you have options of several small boxes that you can take them home in. I picked 4 different flavors on my visit, ate one immediately, then left the others to enjoy throughout the day. Every flavor that I got was very good, the meringue on the cookies was a good consistency, and even the one that I had the next day was still good. I stopped in for Burger Week and in addition to a really, really fantastic burgeron (macaron + white chocolate toppings + chocolate ganache = my heart), I tried the dark chocolate macaron, signed up for their rewards program, and learned that their macarons are prepared fresh in Cincy, then driven down to Louisville where they are handily devoured. While I probably shouldn't stop by on a daily basis (even at $2.25 each, that would add up over time), I'll definitely be back. The delectable menu of around 20 flavors of colorful, delicate and ornate Macarons is full seasonal flavors and classics that I've come to indulge in with extreme prejudice. Why? ALL OF EM ARE GOOD. That's not the issue. Which ones? Therein lies the problem. How can I possibly choose between lemon lavender or pumpkin, or birthday cake, or espresso...do you see? Hard to choose. Friends and I made a quick day-trip down to Lou to get out of Indy and experience a nearby city. We hit up of all of the Yelp hot spots and this one came across us. We don't have a place in Indy that's dedicated solely to macarons, so we wanted to check it out after dinner. The interior is simple, yet beautiful. It's very bright, almost like an Apple store (haha). The case and options are pretty straightforward and the pricing is reasonable as well. Those boxes are so cute too! I was very thrilled to have stumbled upon this while in Louisville. This a very cute shop with a modern look in one of Louisville's older buildings. Very simple decor when you walk in. First thing you noticed is the platters of macarons laid out. Prices are about average for this type of dessert. I chose a box of 12 which was about $26 and chose from an array of flavors. I highly recommend the toasted coconut and pistachio. First bite, soft pillow like, melt in your mouth deliciousness. It's a great thing I don't live by this place or I would be here everyday.
