I checked Yelp and narrowed down a list of dog-friendly vineyards on Long Island. My good friend Cynthia picked Macari Vineyards because the food menu caught her eye. The drive from Queens to Mattituck took about 1.5 hours. We didn't have a reservation, but they welcomed walk-ins. The hostess told us the first two rooms were for ordering drinks and food at the bar only. The deck was set up as the Tasting Room. Also, there was another Private Tasting Suite by the restrooms and kitchen. My good friend's dog barked, and a staff member snapped at us. We didn't let it ruin our first impression of Macari Vineyards. Cody greeted us at the bar, and Cynthia asked him about the sparkling wine selection. He offered her samples of the 2024 "Horses" Sparkling Cabernet Franc and Red Blend. Cody gave us a table number after we ordered and paid, so that the servers could bring our food. He informed the kitchen to keep the soppressata separate for our charcuterie. Drinks 2024 "Horses" Sparkling Cabernet Franc Red Jacket Strawberry Apple Juice - refreshingly delicious 2024 "Horses" Sparkling Red Blend Food *sharing is caring* Cheese and Charcuterie for Two (Fig Jam, Bread, Pita Chips, Double-Cream Brie, Aged Gouda, Valencia Almonds, Soppressata) The Brie was creamy and melted in my mouth, and the fig jam added a touch of sweetness. Roberta's Baby Sinclair Roberta's Famous Original Both pizzas were my favorite with all the flavorful toppings. My palate was bouncing off the roof! Bookmark this spot to try!
I came here to celebrate one of my friends birthdays, and I think this place did a great job of accommodating the party size that she had. She was running late due to the traffic going up to Long Island and they still made sure she was able to have the whole experience that she booked for. We ended up doing our private wine tasting, and it came with a selection of food that included salad sandwiches different meats. And to me everything was definitely tasty. But also speaking to the grounds of the winery you can tell that the place is well kept. There was so many different places to take pictures. The outdoor seating was also a great touch just for you to enjoy a nice summary day. They also did have nonalcoholic options which I feel like was a great touch so people that don't drink and also enjoy in the experience as well. Lastly, they had an abundant amount of parking. But I would definitely say if you're looking for something different to do in New York I would suggest checking out this winery.
Have given my wife a gift certificate for Macari Winery over a year and a half ago. They were able to honor it. This gave us a private wine experience tour with charcuterie board. We sampled a total of six wines, 2 sparking, "Horses" Sparkling Cabernet Franc, and "Cuvee Katherine" Sparkling Pinot Noir, and for wine, "Golden Yarrow" White Blend, Rose, Cabernet Franc and "Bergan Road" Red Blend. All were good, some better than others. We are still learning about tastings. First Kevin greeted us and gave us the first tasting, then gave us the tour of how the wine is made with the history of Macari and the grapes. Then we went to the basement which is a beautiful room with wine barrels, wine on display and stone walls. Very elegant, dim lighting with electric candles, (see pics) We sat with all the wine glasses in front of us with description for each under the glass. We has a differnert glass for each tasting. This is the proper way to experience wine tastings. For almost 2 hours we tasted wines and enjoyey the charcuterie board filled with chips, Brie & American Cheese, Bread, Fig Jam, Prosciutto and almonds. We have been to some wineries, and we found Macari Winery to be very upscale. They are pricing but definitely a great expereince and ambiance.
First time here with my fiancé and family. We really enjoyed it! We agreed this is being added to our rotation! As far as tasting goes, we weren't able to do a tasting in the tasting room as we didn't have reservations. However, we were still able to enjoy wine outside from the wine truck. We really liked the wine we had! We ended up buying 4 bottles to bring home. They have a nice outdoor seating area. I do wish that all the tables had umbrellas, but we made due and we did end up snagging a table with an umbrella halfway through our stay. They have food offerings with lots of variety. We ended up sharing a personal pie that I believe was called The Sinclair. It had great flavor! This vineyard is also dog (and kid) friendly! We definitely had a great experience! Can't wait to return.
We visited Macari for a wine tasting and pizza (their La Dolce Vita program). As there wasn't as much traffic, we arrived at the vineyard a little early, but the staff graciously cleared the tables to help us seat a little bit earlier in their beautiful patio area. There were three wines in the tasting menu and we got to choose one of three pizza options each. I was surprised at the variety of wines as we had an untraditional Chardonnay, a Syrah, and a red blend that was a little bit pricier. I usually like white wines better, and I enjoyed the Chardonnay as it was not as oaky as Chardonnay tends to be. Our server Olivia explained that it is taken out of the oak barrel to finish aging in a steel drum, so it was much lighter and crisp than my expectation of a Chardonnay. The Syrah was super fruity when we took a whiff, but the "white pepper" note permeated in the actual taste. Olivia told us that Macari had planted the grapes in sandy soil to mimic the terroir of places like Australia where it is popularly grown. The last wine we tried was the "Alexandra" red blend, which is a bit pricier because all four of the reds that make up this blend has to be produced in good quality and quantity for Macari to blend. They've only had five productions of it as a result, but I was shocked at how much I liked the Alexandra 2021. We had also mentioned that it was my friend's birthday that we were celebrating, and Olivia graciously brought out a sip of their sparkling wine, Cuvee Katherine, that was tinted with pinot noir into a delightful pink. I was so impressed with its crispy and juicy apple-y taste, I actually bought a bottle to take home! The thing that I felt was a little lacking was the pizza. I was excited to hear Olivia say that they were going to be fired up, but the dough is way too dry for the oven. Between the "original" and the "classic" which sounded very differently on paper, the only way I could tell the difference was that the classic Margherita had basil leaves on top. The pizza also didn't make sense as a pairing to the wines on the tasting menu. I wish more thought had gone into how the food lines up with the wines. The back lawn was open, with many enjoying the not-rainy occasionally sunny weather and lots of dogs walking around in the grass. We did take a little walk to the fields, though much of it was obviously fenced off. Overall, I had a lovely time at Macari Vineyards and would come back again to try their other wines!
Easily our favorite winery we've been to on the North Fork. Macari has a really nice location with its large indoor seating area and huge porch. There is a little store area where you can buy bottles, cheese, and other goods. We have been here twice and became members! This gave us the perk of getting a first free pour so we were able to try more wines this time. The lady who helped us was very nice and remembered so much about us even though we haven't been there in over six months. We tried one of the Katherine's field wines and loved it. I first tried the Dos Aguas white and really liked it. The cab franc was also a really good option! We ordered a charcuterie board and weren't super pleased with it. It was mostly chips and had very little cheese or meat. Overall, Macari is great and the wines are even better.
Great experience and worth the drive out from Great Neck! Ambiance: just lovely, super classy, pretty view of the farm. I noticed they have a private room for parties. Service: waiter was attentive and explained the history of the place, along with brief bios of each of the wines. Food: we got the pesto pizza (not pictured) and it was solid. Hummus was delicious. Olives were good! Drinks: husband loved his wine tasting and bought a bottle of red to take home. I got the Tost non-alcoholic ginger tea and it was great. Merchandise: they have a section of artisanal things for sale. The chocolate is really not worth it and I regret spending so much money on that. The pesto, spreads, and tapenades were great. Your table is reserved for 90 minutes, but we took our sweet time and were out in 50. FYI if you're not drinking, you can email them and they'll pre-charge you $20 instead of the usual $40.
We had a 3 o'clock reservation and got there on time. It seemed a little hectic at first, but we settled in and were told right away there was no more Margherita pizzas left. We had pre-ordered a pizza and a charcuterie board to go with two seasonal wine tastings that consisted of five types of wine. I did not like the other two options of pizza, So they were able to reimburse me for that. I was glad, as I saw the Pizza going by and was not impressed. I've had the real Roberta's pizza fresh out of the oven. It doesn't look like it quite stands up to be frozen and reheated here. The charcuterie was good. The wine tasting was super interesting and we totally enjoyed that. We were seated inside and it was super noisy. It Was not a good vibe for us. We asked to be moved outside. We were told that the tastings were only done inside. However, when we had the last poor, we were able to gather everything up and move into the sunshine and enjoy a much nicer atmosphere. The staff was very accommodating.
Macari Vineyard is always a favorite! We came here last year and had such a great experience that we had to visit again. One of the best things about this place is how dog-friendly they are. our dogs were even allowed indoors with us, which is a rare treat. This time, we were seated at the indoor terrace, where we enjoyed stunning panoramic views of the vineyard. The interior is beautifully designed, classy and elegant, yet cozy enough to feel completely at ease. Their wine selection is extensive, and everything we tried was great. The staff were not only super friendly and accommodating but also absolutely adored our dogs, which made us feel even more welcome. Macari Vineyard has the perfect mix of great wine, gorgeous views, and warm hospitality. It's always a memorable experience, and we'll definitely keep coming back. Highly recommend for wine lovers and dog lovers alike!
I love the atmosphere and openness of the place when you first walk in. It was a Tuesday so we got seated very quickly. We started off with 3 tastings first. Then when we were done she poured the other two tastings. My husband and I shared the hummus and pita chips platter which was absolutely delicious, and yes I took the hummus home as it was huge portion and was very tasty. Only downside is that I felt it was a little pricey. Otherwise great wine, great service and even better company.
We had a delightful experience at this vineyard. The service was prompt, and the views were breathtaking. The vineyard has panoramic vistas of lush grape vines. The price isn't bad either and the charcuterie board was delicious and a truly perfect match for their wide range of delicious wine!
I have visited Macari vineyards twice and it's such a great vineyard to spend amazing time at! I know reservations are tough here, but we always found a spot outside for self service and it's as much fun! My favorite part of this vineyard is great wine but also the fact that they are dog friendly. They love dogs here! My doggie even got a sweet gift from their staff. My favorite wine here is Syrah and Chardonnay. We always order the cheese and charcuterie board, it's huge and delicious! read more

The winery is aesthetically beautiful with lots is staff available for a assistance. The Chardonnay was quite nice. There were tables available with a sophisticated setup. The tasting was very nice and the charcuterie was well worth the price. It was very generous. There are tents available out back to rent pp that are very cozy. If you're looking to host an event or looking for something a bit more upscale this is the place. read more

Loved the place. They have a great outdoor seating area, as well as a place in the grass. Their wine selection is delicious along with the food pairing they offer. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Keep in mind you do have to make a reservation. read more
Beautiful location with a fun tasting experience. The staff explain each wine well, and there was great variety in the flavors. After the tasting, I bought a bottle of ice wine, which was delicious. I recommend this vineyard, but make sure to make a reservation ahead of time. read more

One of the nicest vineyards with indoor seating for the winter time! They have the back deck enclosed but you can still have a nice view of the vineyard and sunset. They have heating and nice 'fur' throws on the chairs so it's a comfortable temperature. I'm not sure if they take walk-ins for tables but I'm sure you can stand at the high tops by the bar for a tasting if you wanted. We made a reservation and pre-booked the flights. For $40 you get three tastings and a cheese plate (which is fairly nice and filling compared to other places) and for an additional $15 you get two more tastings. The wines were wonderful, I prefer the cab franc from the flight and I had a glass of malbec afterwards upon recommendation and I was not disappointed! The staff was very friendly and informative. We arrived a bit too early for our reservation and were gratefully given a glass of sparking cab franc (I think that's what it was) while we waited for our table! Unfortunately our Uber was taking a long time to come (after the tasting room closed) but the staff was so sweet and allowed us to wait as long as needed and some even offered us a ride. We enjoyed small bites that were purchased on site. Cheeses, crackers & Sauvignon Blanc wine to pair made this afternoon absolutely perfect. What's better than sitting in the vineyards surrounded by the fragrant grapes, & music playing in the background. Service was done with a smile. My husband surprised me making reservations at Macari Vineyards! I LOVED EVERYTHING from the moment I walked in! They have amazing decor and a beautiful tree when you walk in. It is spacious and they have a great ambiance! They conduct temperature checks, require 6 feet of social distancing and masks. The hosts and waitress were very welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly! The wine tasting experience was great! The charcuterie was tasty! We ordered snacks after as well and another bottle of wine to drink. Ofcourse we took a bottle home because MACARI wine is perfection! Loved it! I will definitely return to Macari Vineyards! read more

Beautiful vineyard and location. The food and wine were great. Our server was Kevin, he was knowledgeable and kind, as well as attentive. One thing I do have an issue with was when I went inside after paying with half a bottle left that we didn't get it finish and wanted to take home, the women behind the counter ignored me and when she realized I was there, she looked up and said: "do you need something?" I said, just a cap or something for the top of the bottle to take home. She seemed annoyed that I was asking and proceed to tell me that she doesn't have anything that will fit that particular bottle. Then, another employee came out and told us he would help us, in which he did. Not sure who this woman working there thought she was, but she was extremely rude. read more
Beautiful vineyard but mediocre tasting experience. My friend and I booked for a two people wine tasting, and arrived just on time. For covid measure, they are only allow people with reservation in, which is great. We were seated right away, but no staff attended our table or show any attention to us. The server seems to only be interested in the bigger tables, ie more than 4 people. We were told to order the wines ourselves at the bar. Wine was ok, the view is really nice, and I actually enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc. However, we paid 20 for each for the Macari Experience package, and 45 minutes in, we got none of that. I got so confused what we paid for, and had to end up asking three different staff for it. Ends up, the 20 dollar is for the cheese plate. It is not bad, quantity wise. However, the lack of attention did put me off a bit. It seems they are only interested in bigger table which orders by bottles, and not in smaller party like us. Overall, the lack of service is a bit disappointing. read more

This place seems to be one of the more popular vineyards in the area. Large parking lot . A lot of people The inside is pretty large . They have a store . I saw two tasting bars. You can also get a table in the patio or on the grass . Tables come with table service which is nice There was some music There was a pizza food truck called Avelino What I liked about this place was that they had a dessert pairing . 3 wines and 3 types of chocolates . I enjoyed that. The patio was nice because it's covered and shields you from the sun on hot days This is a more social and busier winery. read more

DISCLAIMER: I'm a beer drinker. Just wanted to make that clear so any wino that checks out this five star review understands where I'm coming from. Now that doesn't mean I dislike wine. Truth be told, most of the women in my life prefer the grapes, and so I put on the good son/sibling/boyfriend hat and we venture off to wonderful wineries now and then, like Macari. I've been to my fair share of Long Island wine country spots with many proving to be formidable amongst the sipping scene, though nothing has entirely grabbed me by the grape vine and made me a true fan. I'd say Macari has a real shot. Starting with setting, their Vineyard is beautiful in decor and size with a welcomed feeling upon entry (nothing that makes you feel like you need to fall under the term snooty to be in here). The wine tasting area isn't vast and you'll stand, but if you're looking for seating, just around the wall of this section is a vast room of tables and waiter service. We didn't opt for this, but I liked the ability to choose. Once situated, we were helped by one of the super friendly employees who walked us through the different wine tastings available. They were broken down by wine styles (reds, whites, etc), but they let us in on a secret tasting selection that combined a little of each (my mother was all over this one as she likes almost all types). The girlfriend optioned for whites while my sis went for the reds. I sipped some of them all (designated driver duties). Like I said, I prefer some yeast, water, malt, and hops....but something was a little different this time. Things tasted crisp, fresh, superb. Perhaps it had nothing to do with Macari. Perhaps on that day, my pallet decided to grow up and become more mature. Perhaps there's something in those grapes. Who knows? All I can say is I've never been a fan of red wines, but after trying a few here (Syrah 14' FTW!), I was considering the purchase of a bottle. A couple of the whites (Sauvignon Blanc 16' led the pack) also got me goin'. Months later, I still think about some of these and that's part of what sparked this somewhat belated review. Despite all my beer love, if you're still makin' a vino-laden impact on my mind, consider that a win, Macari. Overall, I might not have any idea what I'm talkin' about. Really I picked this vineyard because Macari had good Yelp reviews (sing it with me: "That's what Yelp is forrrrr"), so maybe those that do enjoy a glass of grapes more often than me can agree that Macari is a truly wine-worthy spot on Long Island. Consider a repeat candidate, especially if I can get one of the women in my world to drive (so I can drink!). read more

I have been a wine club member at Macari for quite some time and I wish I visit more often to enjoy some of the members' benefits. I managed to visit this past Saturday with some guests from out-of-state. I wanted to seize the moment and showcase New York/Long Island wine country. Macari did not disappoint! Macari is aesthetically pleasing, from the wine bar to the indoor tasting room which gives way to the closed-in deck. The effort to simple details was not missed by us - for example, the furniture on the closed-in deck is iron but there are sheepskin throws (synthetic fur) on each chair which warms up the whole appearance. Service was superb - our waiter (I am bummed I do not remember his name) eloquently described the wines as he poured. He was warm and invited us to inquire about any of the wines. We started our tasting with the Sparkling Pino Noir (I strongly recommend this sparkling) - the flavors of the berries were profound and quite refreshing. We continued with Macari's different Chardonnays, Tocai Friulano (this wine is only available in the tasting room and not available for online purchase as I have tried to order it). And we wrapped up our tasting with the Dos Aguas. Dos Aguas is a medium body blend which paired very well with their pizza. Tasting Room Notes - I would like to see Macari showcase Bergen Road as a part of its tasting menu. It is a gem and one of Macari's greatest reds (full body). I love the pizza menu which is new (first time for me). It is a great benefit when one can go wine tasting and have lunch at the same place/time. And, Oh la la - the new addition - The Olive Oil! - it has such a punch. I came home with 2 bottles. Offers baguettes and you will have me coming back! Hints - reservation is strongly recommended, even for wine club members. read more

My fiancé brought me here for my 30th birthday. It was such a beautiful experience. The ambiance is beautiful and they had decorated for the fall which made the experience feel very cozy. The wines and charcuterie boards were delicious. We live out waitress as she was very informative. She informed us about their amazing wine program. We are definitely considering it and will reach out soon. read more
Charcuterie game was strong but severely lacking in the fig jam dept! What's with that very small amount of honey that doesn't even spread on anything?? Presentation was an A plus but execution failed in my book, there was bread but nothing to put on it & the honey to everything else ratio was way off and for $42 I was not impressed. The horse rosè was solid tho. It was a nice afternoon and this winery is beautiful and our waitress was phenomenal but I didn't catch her name unfortunately. read more

Stop number 2 on our tour, while we waited for our table first up we grabbed some Black truffle chips to pick on yumm so good & some cheese good as well. Once seated we started with our tasting we choose the 10 bottles by the glass a choice of 5 Estate & 5 Vintage wines all different in their own way from the estate the ones that stood out were Sauvignon blanc , Dos Aguas White & Rosè on the Vintage Chardonnay reserve & Pinot Noir ... Some of the reds were quite bitter tasting. This is is nice vineyard, nice area inside for sitting, pet friendly & a lovely area outside on top of that they have that great pizza truck outside, what a genius idea no pizza for us this time. This was a good place to try, we had an enjoyable time. read more

Easily new favorite vineyard! This vineyard trumps the other ones easily. The size is fantastic, they can accommodate so many people at once! I suggest making reservations ahead of time. The inside is very nice and fun. there's a large bar where you can hang out and drink at as well. the actual store and prices of their wines are fairly decent and so worth it! they even have salami and cheese for sale. i was so impressed. my girlfriend left with tshirts for her family, how cute. The tasting is priced fairly, 5 flights for $25. you can change up the wines if you don't like one on the menu. the staff is so kind and accommodating, i literally cannot wait to come back. the vineyard itself, outdoor patio and seating is phenomenal. it's enormous and the view is stunning. I'm actually upset i haven't come earlier! North fork vineyards all the way- 1000 stars for Macari! read more

Very nice vineyard. I definitely recommend this one. I went with 5 other girlfriends , we made reservations prior. The seating was part of the reservations so we sat closer to the grapevines. The kind lady who served us our wine flight explained what paired well with what. A personal charcuterie board was included for each of us. We had a Cabernet, Rose and I believe a Chardonnay. I loved the Cab and Rose. We also ordered a Sparkling Cabernet Franc called Horses. The sweet hostess was pouring our glasses and dropped the wine, broke a few glasses and red wine got on my friends white shoes. Both women were quite upset , understandable. The hostess was very apologetic but no one came to see if my friend was ok. Glass was everywhere. Kind customers came to assist. I'm just surprised at management for not checking on her. Other than that we had a great time and I would go back. The hostess was kind enough to take pics of us. Go and enjoy! read more

We had a wine tasting here, which included a three wine flight tasting, alongside a cheese and charcuterie board. There were three of us in our party and each tasting was $35. There is an option to sit under a covered part of the building or outside at tables with umbrellas. It was nice to sit outside under a large umbrella and enjoy the view of the vineyards. It was a warm day and we enjoyed our time at this place! read more
Our trip to Macari vineyards was excellent. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful and it is also very trendy. They really do a great job decorating. It felt like we were transported to Italy when we were looking out at the great view of the vineyard. Our party was in the private tasting suite and everything was set up perfectly. When we walked in there was a welcome drink, a flight of 5 wines with descriptions of each one as well as different types of foods. There was a large charcuterie board with bread, kale and butternut squash salad, a variety of sandwiches, and some apple fritters. They also ended up bringing out a delicious tray of Mac and cheese which was really tasty. They had ample amount of seating and music to choose from. Overall it was a nice experience, but it is definitely a little pricey for what you are getting. One thing we wish is that they would have at least given a few bottles of wine for the price. The flight pours were really small and our party of 7 ended up buying 3 more bottles of wine. We had a great experience in the private tasting suite and it is good if you want privacy with your group, but the price is a little steep for what you're getting. read more

This place is perfect on a warm sunny day. Unfortunately a small group of us (5) visited Macari on a Memorial Day Sunday which was wet and cold. We tried our very best to enjoy the outdoors wine tasting but the cold proved too much. This venue does not have indoor tasting facilities except for private room. Staff tried their best to keep everyone warm with some heaters and blankets but it just didn't quite work. We would have loved to stay longer but we couldn't take the cold temperatures. Wines are decent especially their white and rose. Will most likely return on a warm day!!! read more

My husband and I have been to Macari several times, dating back to before 2012. What sparked me to finally write a review is that my husband recently threw me a surprise birthday party at Macari, in their private barrel cellar. Just. WOW. Everything from the decor, the wine, the service, was impeccable. The setting was perfect for the party, they helped arrange outside catering, and I'm pretty sure my wine glass was never empty for more than a few seconds. Almost every attendee at the party commented that the service and setting were excellent. Thank you to the staff at Macari for truly making my birthday celebration one to remember. read more

This is a nice winery but gets packed really quickly on the weekends.They let you walk in between the grape vines which others wineries do not allow you to do.My only compliant was the food truck it took forever to get the oven fire pizza and people where breaking wine glasses on the grass area and if you had kids playing on the grass they could cut themselves because people just left the broken glass in the grass. read more

The tent was the most amazing experience !!! The service was top notch thanks to our waiter Tom !!!! The tent was gorgeous! Who knew such a beautiful setting could exist in a tent ?! The food was also incredible !!! Literally like being in a farm boho chic decorated living room with the best service, charcuterie board, sandwiches , Mac and cheese , wine and dessert but only you're in a tent in the middle of the vineyard. Such a cool idea will definitely be back ! read more

Are reservations required for the tasting room only? Can we enjoy a flight of wines without a reservation outside of the tasting room?
Yes you can do a flight both inside or outside on their deck. Their staff is very accommodating.
Bring your own food and snacks?
Unfortunately most of the Vineyards on the North & South Fork no longer allow outside food/snack. Macari sells snacks.
