As a big fan of Crux brews I was stoked to see this PDX location open a couple of years back, and…read morehappy to see the creativity, vibe and level of service is still spot on. This isn't one of the fancier brewpubs in Portland (looking at you 10 Barrel and Deschutes) but that's never been the Crux brand so I'm happy to see them stick to their down to the earth origins and focus on making really good beer. The bar is nice and long and a good place to post up for a couple of pints, with plenty of cheery tenders to pour them for you. The space is overall industrial-feeling with tall ceilings and minimalist decor and mostly bare walls inside, but there's also an outside patio area with picnic tables in the parking lot, though that's best in the summer. We got the General Tso Cauliflower to start which was a great share plate, with awesome flavor in the sauce, though the actual cauliflower was a bit undercooked. Still, we polished it off no problem. Fish tacos were also a good call, and the thin, crispy fries were a crowd favorite. There are so many good sours, IPAs and other craft beer options here, my buddy just opted for the 4-brew flight (mostly IPAs) which we all sampled and loved, though it's kinda pricy for what's basically 20 ounces of beer. The one-off vintage 14% special beers are where it's at, but at that ABV level, we just decided to share one barrel aged Imperial Stout. So friggin caramelly and delish - the perfect dessert. The space was pretty quiet for a Saturday night but our service was absolutely next level, so it made for a super pleasant gathering for our small group. The food at this Crux location is probably best described as better-than-average pub fare, but not mouth-watering, and the ambiance is low key but also nothing super special. The beer and the staff though, are awesome, so I will be back for more.

We really enjoy this restaurant in the Pearl District. We regularly stop in after a morning visit…read moreto Powell's. They are a brewery pub and have the fare that matches. Their tap list is extensive but also includes non-standard options. We love to see non-alcoholic beers as well as gluten free beer, cider, cocktails, and other libations. The food menu is great too. There are several items that either come gluten free or can be modified to be. The servers are knowledgeable about the ingredients of the menu items and I feel confident and safe eating here when gluten free is a need for me. They can get pretty crowded, but have several seating options. It was nice out today so outdoor seating was even possible, though it looked like there was a wait. There are tvs in several spots that showcase local sports when possible. There is a kids area and you can sit close while the kids play. Everyone we come in contact with here from servers to hosts are super friendly and welcoming. The food is pretty good. This time around, we shared the garlic Parmesan fries and the chicken wings (buffalo and honey gojuchang sauces). The wings were smoked and moist with good flavor. The fries were alright. More of the aioli would have helped so maybe request extra sauce or get some on the side. The dessert menu has some non-traditional offerings. The highlight for me was the cheesecake. I was assured by a server one time that the chef creates a gluten free cheesecake that rotates on the seasonal dessert menu. The current offering is tiramisu. The coffee chocolate sauce is good and I appreciated the bonus chocolate chip biscotti. The actual cheesecake is decent and I would be excited to try other flavors in the future.

Great spot to unwind and have a beer in the Pearl District. I've admired this brewery from afar and…read moreI've enjoyed their beers. It was great being able to enjoy them fresh off the tap. Corner Street Pub is the kind of spot you walk into once and immediately know you'll be back…read more I ordered the Little Town Burger, and it delivered. The patty was cooked with a slight pink -- exactly how it should be -- juicy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The spring lettuce was an interesting switch from the usual, but it actually worked and gave the burger a fresh bite. It's a solid-sized burger too, definitely filling. Only minor thing was some of the cheese slid off, but nothing that took away from it overall. I also tried the Caesar salad. It didn't come with croutons (not sure if that's intentional), and while the dressing was evenly coated, the Parmesan was a bit heavy and ended up overpowering the rest. Not bad, just not as balanced as it could be. What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. It's put together in a way that makes you forget you're even in the city -- relaxed, comfortable, and easy to settle into. Service was easily a 10/10. Attentive without being overbearing, respectful, and genuinely friendly -- the kind of staff that makes the experience better without trying too hard. Overall, a really solid spot. I'd come back without hesitation.

Confessional time: yep, I'm old…read more I'm right on the cusp of the Millennials and Gen X. And you will pry my hoppy IPA from my cold, dead, but very happy hands. I have to admit I was a teeny bit worried when I saw Great Notion's hazy/tart-forward taplist yesterday. But The Soughten--a collab with Breakside, dry hopped with (per the website) "Citra, Amarillo, and Chinook hops along with Euphorics"--was SO SO SO GOOD. One of the driest IPAs I've had in years, and just delicious! Really unique. Instead of a punch-you-in-the-face hops (which I also like), this one had a super complex flavor. As for Great Notion itself, this location is just lovely. Airy, with dangling plants and assorted vintage/antique light fixtures. You order your Matt's BBQ Tacos from a computer kiosk, and then order your drinks from the bar. As always Matt's "The G.O.A.T." taco is the thing to order--yumm. We'll be back.

I never can decide on just one and always end up getting a flight- my favorite this time was the Berry Pusher and Blueberry Cheesecake.
