It was free so obviously that's a plus when starving late at night. Mac Truck came to bring employees a late night treat. 3 options available.. plain, cheeseburger, and applewood bacon. Ooh bacon. I actually loved the little pieces of bacon. It was good quality. The Mac and cheese was just okay. Some people thought it was too watery.. but it's melted cheese. I would prefer my macaroni to have more texture. I'm not a fan of really soft pasta. 3.5 stars just too salty. Can't really eat too much. read more

One year ago I experienced the most incredible Mac 'n Cheese from a truck, the Mac Truck to be exact. I couldn't wait to taste it again. Seen it at the end of the day but they were out of almost everything. Next day I returned planning to order the same thing I had last year(for later) plus a new kind(for now) Well while waiting in line I looked at several ppl eating their pulled pork Mac 'n Cheese. It didn't look like the one I enjoyed the year before. There was no bread crumb topping and the color of the pork(or sauce) was different. Standing there, I questioned if this was the same truck that I had previously visited? This time I went the safe route of Bacon Mac 'n Cheese. It was ok, not great. I was full from the small container but i really only ate it because i paid for it. Maybe i was disappointed because I had high expectations which were set from my past experience, but this definitely did not make me desire more. Went to the food truck festival in Bayonne and since I love mac and cheese, this had to be the first thing I try. I had the buffalo chicken mac and cheese. When they gave me the container, it was heavier than I anticipated. I knew it was going to be good. I opened it and it's shredded buffalo chicken on top of what tasted like buffalo sauce in the Mac and cheese. Maybe buffalo sauce in the roux? I don't know, but it was so good! The chicken was juicy and tender and the Mac and cheese was creamy. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! The Mac Truck was serving the most delicious food today at the Kentucky Derby. I have to apologize to Dom for not writing this sooner. I was scrolling through pictures of my family at Saratoga Race Way from 2 years ago and came across this amazing photo, when you took the time out of your crazy day to take a picture with my sons and nephew. We all watched you on the next Food Network Star, and we cheered and supported you throughout the competition. It is not easy to get 3 boys off their video games to watch a food challenge, but they were behind you all the way. Despite the fact you (should have won) we continued to follow you. When you showed up at Saratoga, (where my sister has a small shack) the boys went crazy. WE love you and your food. You can call us your food groupies. You even gave the boys free slurppies which they still talk about. You are a true gem and We can't wait to see you again at the Race Track. I love Pier 13 in Hoboken; there is nothing I do not LOVE about this place (okay maybe the bathroom lines), but Pier 13 is heaven. It opened this weekend and when I decided what day I wanted to go (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday), I let the type of food trucks be my guide to decide! And I was more than excited to see the Mac Truck would be there on Saturday. I love mac and cheese and this place had it going on. There mac and cheese was delicious and an added bonus, it was affordable. I had the traditional mac and cheese and was very happy, my girlfriend had bacon added to hers which was delicious as well. Masters of mac and cheese. I got the bacon mac and cheese, which was $12 (not bad for a festival), and didn't have to wait long after I ordered. Once I opened the container, I was in heaven. There was so much bacon. Much more than I had anticipated. Can't ever blame these guys for false advertising. And there wasn't a lack of cheese either. There was a perfect cheese to macaroni to bacon ratio. I need to try more! read more

At the Chelsea Bazaar event, I tried the Mac of the Day but the pizza flavors were a bit overpowering and I couldn't taste the mac & cheese though. I loves how we were getting what we paid for and the portion size was just right and fulfilling. Hope to try the rest of the menu =) read more

hey i'm a fan. Ran into this food truck on 47th between Lex & Park every now and then. I've been there 3 times. For $6, I got the small classic & unlimited toppings from bread crumbs, parmesan, sriracha, chipotle, and various sauces. The first time I was there, I ordered the large not realizing that there's a LOT of mac and cheese and couldn't even finish it! Note the price difference for small and large is only a $1. We were at Airbnb Brooklyn Half pre-party at the Brooklyn Bridge Park & one of us was hungry, the Mac Truck was the first food truck we saw there so we decided to give it a try. Whoa! As for Mac Trucks, this is as good as it gets. The buffalo chicken mac and cheese is so good. If you have a craving for good mac and cheese and you see this truck, you get some mac and cheese... because it's delicious. Wasn't bad, just didn't think it was worth the $10. Mainly because it tasted like a frozen Mac and cheese I've had before. Maybe Stouffer's? I can't remember. Maybe getting another one besides the classic Mac would be better, but they cost more. read more

I am still having foodgasms just thinking about the amazing Mac & Cheeseburger *insert real tears. Is this what love feels like? I get butterflies when someone says your name. My heart skips a beat when I smell your aroma. Nah, seriously though, the distinctive scent of the food in a sea of food trucks is what drew me in at Afropunk this past weekend. the breadcrumbs were the perfect addition. I enjoyed the mac so much on saturday that I returned on sunday despite the long line of customers. Totally, worth the wait and $11. God I hate myself. I started off super cool, WAY too cool for Mac Truck. I don't want to waste my precious taste buds on big dumb mac and cheese. Its like a huge container of one smash-you-in-the-face flavor, right? Where is the delicacy? The subtlety? No man, Mac Truck is super dumb. I wasn't going to be one of those... those... DUMB PEOPLE. I DON'T NEED YOU MAC TRUCK. Then, I don't know... I tried it. It was fine, whatever, I'm still cool. They put little crispies on the top and you can get it with pulled pork on top and it was fine or whatever... I wasn't sold. But Mac Truck didn't give up, they just bided their time, parking near my office every week, nodding knowingly as I walked by ignoring them. Until, something in me just snapped and now I crave that pulled pork/mac and cheese/ crispy whatever-those-things-are combo. I don't know if it is them, or me, or mind control?? I just need that goodness now. If you were on the fence like me then I get it. You're cool. That is great. Very nice for you.... But seriously, you should try this hotness. Oh and get the small. Do you like...Mac N' Cheese? How about hamburgers? I like both. Thoroughly. Well, the friendly and inventive folks at the Mac Truck have found a way to expertly combine BOTH in Neapolitan layers of burger, mac, and MORE burger on the bottom. (Who doesn't like more meat on the bottom?) Top it off with pickled onions and bread crumbs, and you've got a lunch that can get you through the chilliest Madison Avenue afternoon. I haven't tried any of their Mac bites, but i've been caught staring at other people's a few times. "Hey man, eyes on your own food!" Buffalo Chicken oh so good. The put the meat on top and on the bottom of your to go container, with mac and cheese in the middle. BOMB. $8 for small, $10 for large. A bit expensive, but quality lives up to it and its more filling than it looks. Unlimited condiments is a great touch and allows for many combinations. read more

So here's what you're gonna do. You're gonna wonder if it's really worth $10 for a container of mac n cheese. Then you're gonna throw caution to the wind and place an order......let's say......the chicken....topped with bleu cheese, bread crumbs and parm. You're gonna go back to your office, open your container and angels will sing when you take your first bite!!!!! You're gonna stalk the Mac truck until it returns to Park/47th and when it returns you're gonna try the pork n mac.......damn if those angels aren't back again! As far as the ten bucks........the portion easily feeds at least two! (There is a smaller size - $8 - go with the large - it reheats really well - or you can share!) Oh, and if you're really lucky the Mac Man will sing along to Frank Sinatra while he's preparing one of the best lunches you will ever have! read more

I really wanted to love this truck! But I didn't. I love the concept of Mac n' cheese with different meats. I ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork Mac and cheese and I wasn't that impressed unfortunately. All sides are free which is cool, I got breadcrumbs and spicy mayo to top it off. The cheese used for the macaroni was mediocre. I got more of that cheese that you squeeze out of a foil bag taste and I wasn't too crazy about the pork either. I was super excited to try it but my expectations were not met. I found myself questioning if the cheese was cheddar or imitation, and that's not a good way to start a review. The dish was a bit gooey, not the proper pasta + creamy texture that mac should have, but instead all jumbled into one sensation. I ordered it with bacon and got a decent amount of bacon on top, along with breadcrumbs and a lonely squirt of hot sauce. I know it's free, but can you spare any more? I'm not ready to say it's Velveeta like Lauren M. but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that it is - and that'll knock another star or two off the review. WOW - delicious delicious mac n cheese!!! I thought that I could finish a large one (hey, I was hungry) but should have gone with a small instead. They have all sorts of "special" mac n cheeses - buffalo chicken, cheeseburger, bacon... etc. I tried the buffalo chicken. They put the buffalo chicken on top of the mac n cheese, which was good because you could eat a little of the meat , or just sneak a bite from below and just try some mac. Very very good. I had a serious Mac n Cheese craving when I stumbled upon Mac Truck. I got the basic Cheddar Mac with some Parmesan & bread crumbs to jazz it up, and I was underwhelmed. The actual Mac n Cheese was fine, but tasted very much like Velveeta, so I wasn't getting that "food truck authentic" feeling I was hoping for. Whack. $12 for small styrofoam box full of out-of-the-box macaroni shells and cheese sauce (no actual cheese) & some bacon bits. Don't do it to yourself. Especially if you see it at a festival or an outdoor event. Its an expensive trap...still over here laughing at the single $ sign! Cheap my butt! read more

Absurdly delicious does not even begin to describe this food truck. I am not someone who writes reviews but because this is a new truck on the scene and the owner was incredibly friendly, I felt the need to give him some good press. - Mac and Cheese was hot and fresh; I got the special of the day with Applewood Smoked Bacon and put fresh grated parm cheese on top - FILLING. I forgot how I found out about the Mac Truck because the 1st time I went two weeks ago, the mac truck owner said he sold out, and the 2nd time I visited, he was not in the area. Today I finally got to visit the truck parked on 47th St between Park Ave and Madison Ave and there was no line. Lucky for me since it was 2:30 and the lunch hour is already over. The owner is really friendly and polite. He asked if I wanted breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, and something else I can't remember on the mac & cheese and I took the parmesan cheese. I ordered a ginger ale soda can and he mentioned it was his last one, but gave it to me on the house. I don't know if that was a marketing ploy to get a new customer to come back, but it worked, because I would come back. However, I don't expect a free soda again, and I shouldn't. The mac and cheese is delicious. I tasted the cheese a lot. I thought ordering the large instead of small would be enough, but I was wrong. The large filled me up and a bit more. I probably will do a small next time. I will try the other flavors the next time I go such as buffalo chicken and pulled pork on my mac & cheese. Make sure you follow the mac truck on twitter (@mactruckny - yes I'm endorsing for free), or else you will end up like me when I walked to his usual spot on 47th and find out later he's not in the area a week ago. read more

I am not CRAZY about food trucks but when I saw this one I knew I had to try it. I got the plain (nothing plain about it) large with Toasted Crumbs and Spicy Mayo. Large was $8, small $6. All the additions are FREE. I have had ALOT of Mac n Cheese and this one was definitely up there for my favs. Its creamy and buttery-everything a mac n cheese should be. I will definitely stop by again next time they are on my block. Also, the guy was extra friendly which is a huge reason I return to places. read more

Ordered a fish masala platter and beef chapli kebab platter. It took about 20min to get our order which definitely felt on the longer side. It was because of the fish prep. If you're in a rush, just get one of the chicken/beef platters or something. There were about 5 other orders that came after us that got their orders before because they had ordered stuff like chicken over rice and what not. Once your food is ready they'll ask what sauces you want. We got white, some red (spicy) and green (lemon herb). We booked it home immediately and started eating within 20min. Ok so how was the food? Pretty good! I think the biggest standouts from this place is the rice (nice and fluffy) and the sauces are pretty bold, but balanced (or as balanced as you can for this). The beef chapli kebab is great and I feel is pretty rare for most halal carts. They're basically minced kebabs with herbs and spices slammed in so lots of different flavors and texture. The masala fish is also good. It obviously got a little soggy from the wait, but some pieces had a crunch. It wasn't particularly bursting with masala flavor, but with all the sauce it kind of makes up for it. The only thing in my opinion that sucked was the fries. They're like an even worse version of in-and-out fries. Just soggy and zero crunch. It's a bit of a write off for me, but it doesn't detract too much. The only shame for me is they don't open until 7:30pm. Wish it would open just a bit earlier, but they're def open late if you want the late night munchies. Also, they take card with a 3% up charge, so bring cash if you got it. Total was just under $30. TL;DR: Pretty good halal cart. Opens later, but good for late night munchies. Fish masala is pretty good, but can be a wait. Beef chapli is good, too. I'm sure the standard chicken over rice is good, too.
