Be aware if you go early afternoon, cats may tend to be sleeping, but we found a few awake and ready for cuddles! Great spaces for sitting, kneeling, and hanging out with the cats. It is on the second floor, and you need to either reserve time with the cats online or at the counter in advance. We were in the area and decided to stop in and experience the Mac Tabby cat café on a whim, and I'm so happy we did. We had just had some pizza from down stairs and thought it would be perfect to grab a drink from the café and experience the cats and kittens as well! The cat experience is 8 dollars per person for half an hour so we got there right on time! This is such a cute café! It was clean, welcoming, we were greeted immediately as we walked in, the young lady that helped us was extremely sweet and efficient! She prepared our order quickly, helped us with signing a waiver to be able to interact with the cats and let us in the cat room! My son had such a great time interacting and playing with the cats. These types of experiences create core memories, and I'm so happy we stopped in! You can tell the cats are well taken care of, they have basic rules in place to ensure the experience is safe for both patrons and the kitties, which sets a great environment for every one! Super cute cat cafe in NoDa! We didn't pet the cats but instead ordered matchas and watched the cats through the window. The matcha was so good, I ordered mine with strawberry syrup. You can sit in the cafe and watch the cats through the window or you can make a reservation and sit on the other side of the window and play with the cats for a fee. read more

Wow! Just Wow! This is quite the experience of any cat lovers; felt like I died and went to heaven! I'm surprised this place has an average 4.8 stars and not a 5 full star! I really enjoyed my time at Mac tabby cat Café! We booked our experience in the cat lounge for one hour and it was a total of $30 for two. They have a number of cats from all breeds and ages; all of which are up for adoption as well. The cats are very friendly and have their own unique personality so it's easy if you fall in love with one or multiple and end up adopting. you're not allowed to pick up the cats, however, some may naturally jump on your lap, and in that case you are allowed to hold them. The staff is very friendly and resourceful as they share information about each cat if you ask. we enjoyed our coffee and I I believe they're coffee and other items are inexpensive. They also have a number of merchandise that is very unique and fun for purchase as well you do have to find either parking on the street or pay for parking in the lot nearby. And the café is attached to the same building as the pizza shop but it is located on the second level. You will see a set of stairs right before the entryway of the pizza shop and that's where you'll go to get to the lounge/cafe I highly recommend this experience to anyone who is in the Charlotte area and loves cats ! read more

I am so happy! My family is visiting Charlotte from Virginia for the weekend. My son is four years old, so unfortunately we wouldn't have been able to go to the main visit time because of his age. I booked for 3 people (my husband, myself and my son) got the email and realized I booked the wrong location! I went to the correct location and they only have 2 tickets left- so I booked them and figured my husband could just take my son. I looked on the website and saw they don't do refunds. So I called the original location I accidentally booked in, and called explaining my mistake. The manager said she was gonna call the owner and call me back. When she called me back she told me she noticed I had only 2 bookings for the Charlotte location and said the owner wanted to know if I wanted to have 3 bookings for the correct location she would make an exception. And she would refund me for the 2 bookings. I am so happy that not only I was able to get my refund but also be able to join my husband and son (who LOVES cats) Thank you Mac Tabby Cat Cafe! We had a great time at the café! We stayed for about an hour, but realistically you only need around 30 minutes unless you're planning to adopt and want to spend extra time getting to know all the cats. It felt clean inside, with surprisingly little cat hair in the air, and it didn't smell at all--which I was definitely expecting--so that was a pleasant surprise. I always love coming to Mac Tabby! I actually hadn't been in like 5 years, but it's still as awesome as it was the last time I went when I went yesterday. I love their mission, and how all the kitties are up for adoption. If you like a kitty you're playing with or petting, you can apply to adopt it, so if you fall in love with one, it could be yours! I also think that they treat their kitties very well, and give them spaces to escape to if they've been overstimulated. And they have a lot of toys. I do recommend going earlier in the day if you want a more playful atmosphere and kitties that are ready to play with lots of toys. If you prefer a bit calmer environment, I recommend going later in the day / early evening. I went in the evening yesterday, and just sat and pet the same kitty for an hour while talking with a friend. The kitty just got up and circled it's mat every 15 minutes or so, it was super cute. I also got a Prosecco to drink at the cafe, and my friend got a beer. They also have coffee and other non-alcoholic drinks. The drinks were good, though I only got one right at the beginning since I wanted to spend my time with the kitties lol. Highly recommend! The staff was so kind and welcoming. They were really knowledgeable when I was asking about which drink I should get which was so nice since it was my first time there. The drink I got was so delicious but they had a million other yummy options that made it so hard to choose. The cats room is an additional charge and a side part of the restaurant which is good to know but also good for anyone with allergies:) They had a bunch of cute seating areas to hang out and spend some time doing work, hanging out, etc. The location is so great to keep walking around the cute little area and spend an entire afternoon. While I did not get a ton of cat interaction during the time I was there, I cannot blame the cats nor the staff for this timing! Wonderful space and the cats here are genuinely happy. They are well taken care of and LOVE their naps. The staff loves these cats so much and it shows - they make sure you are aware of their policies and walk you in when you time slot is ready. This cafe is super cute--but so are the cats. This is a great place to get in your pet therapy while showing love to these adoptable cuties. It's a good thing we live in San Diego, CA. Otherwise, I'd be adopting these cats left and right. We were in town for a wedding and had a bit of extra time to explore the city. One of the places we had on our list was this cat cafe. There were also other shops along the way in the area, so it was great to stroll through, especially since there was a street fair happening. It is located on the second floor of the building. The entrance is a stairway that takes you directly up to it. On the way, you will see cats through the windows before the door to the cafe. At the time, they seemed to have seemingly a litter of brothers and sisters along with a few others, among them being Charlie the black cat. I took a huge liking to Charlie upon the completion of his afternoon nap. In an attempt to grab his attention and interact with him, I lightly dove towards the floor in a plank position. He then came over and repeatedly brushed across my face with his fur. For those of you not familiar with cat affection, it was a positive gesture, signaling comfort as well as "marking" me with its pheremones. It's also very interesting to see how other people interact with cats. I think it's funny-yet-sad that some people seem to not realize that cats are not dogs. I saw a couple who was taking one of those string-on-a-wand toys and was waving it in front of a cat already laying in a bed/perch high above. The way we interact with cats is simply not the same. Nevertheless, it was fun to be here. Cost of beverages are reasonable, and time blocks to see the kitties is by the half-hour. Parking: No private parking. Anywhere you can find in the neighborhood, or nearby paid lots. FYI: - No picking the cats up off the ground. - The availability of cats obviously varies, so swing by to see who they've got. - Don't sit on the scratch boards. I saw a girl do this, and of course it broke. And guess what. Now they need to purchase another one. Once again, don't sit on those. read more

Feline fun! A cat cafe has been on my daughter and my list for some time. As soon as we booked charlotte and I found Mac Tabby's I knew it was a must! So glad we did! $12 for an hour with the cats. Reasonable and worth it. We got to play with an assortment of cats and others, as they were just sleeping the hour away, we just said hi to. Thankful Mac Tabby's leaves out cat toys and that was how we really interacted with the cats. They were galloping through little cat tunnels, jumping on tables, one even licked the whip cream off the top of my daughter drink lid! They can't be trusted I tell you! Super cute, modern space. Spacious enough for the cafe and cat area. When we were first let in, I felt like there were too many people aka competition for cat attention, in the room. There was one guy who would wave the to at any cat who came within his radius as other people were really respectful of oh hey you are playing with this cat then I will play with that cat. I feel like if you have a jerk in the group it could greatly affect your point of view on cat cafes and your experience. That guy was also trying to get a cat to jump on a table and when the cat didn't make it, they bashed their legs on the legs of the chair below. The guy was a moron. Luckily he was a half hour person so he wasn't there our whole hour. They have people book 1 hr time slots online and then they accept walk ins for 1/2 hr. Also, it was a hot day in Charlotte. There was a moment where I was at the point of asking them to open a window it was hot in the car area! I would definitely hang with the cats at Mac Tabby's again! read more

So my son's best friend is a cat lover like me. We were planning the trip to go to the NASCAR museum and so this was a great add on for him. We reserved four spots for an hour, but the half-hour slot would have been better, kids have short attention spans. I could have stayed in there for hours. This place is awesome! It's kind of hidden away- it's on the second floor of the building and there's stairs tucked in-between two stores that lead up to it. Inside, the cafe is super chill and has a nice vibe to it. Nice cafe music playing. You have to sign up for a specific time to play with the cats. But it's pretty inexpensive to see them. We came here for an hour and had a pleasant visit. The prices here to play with the kitties are honestly so cheap. I'm from the DC area and it's almost triple the price for admission. The play area was SUPER clean. No smells at all and the kittens are so adorable. There's sooo many of them and so many toys to use to play with them as well as chairs to sit in. Unfortunately most of the kittens were pretty sleepy for most of our visit but during the last 20 minutes they were super playful. This is definitely the place to go if you love cats. I have to confess I am much more of a dog person than a cat person but any establishment that provides help for animals will get my attention. I was curious to check out this little cafe tucked away upstairs off of Davidson St. The cats are kept in a separate room where people who are interested in adoption can go in to meet them. Next door there is a small coffee bar with an assortment of lounge chairs, couches, and tables. I like to grab a seat at the table next to the window overlooking the street below it's a very relaxing way to enjoy your coffee. They have a variety of specialty lattes including my favorite the s'more flavored one. There are a lot of great options for coffee here in Charlotte but this one has become one of my favorites! read more

I have a moderate cat allergy. I have a very strong sense of smell and a real aversion to the 'cat smell'. I had some reservations about visiting Mac Tabby yesterday. It was without a doubt a great experience in every way! There was ZERO smell. It was SUPER clean. Like no cat hair anywhere! I had no allergy reactions at all. The cafe is decorated so quirky and yet so aesthetically pleasing. I had the apple crisp latte and my daughter had the honey lavender. Both were soooooo good (thanks Julia!). Staff was friendly and engaged with customers and cats but not over the top. The cats were friendly and the cat room was spacious. If I were a cat I'd want to go there and hang out. The focus on adoption and the love they all have for rescues and for the cats is intentional. And I felt that in every part of this cafe. SO impressed! MacTabby turned out to be one of our favorite stops while visiting Charlotte/Concord. I had heard of cat cafes before and while I would not consider myself a cat person (allergies) I always thought the concept was genius and would not hesitate to support it. As a result, we decided on an afternoon coffee after a hike and made the drive down to MacTabby. The cafe portion of the experience was great. The coffee flavors/options were unique and I had a hard time narrowing my selections down to something I would like because everything seemed awesome. This is separate and sectioned off so you can have your beverage in a different location and NOT socialize with the cats if you don't want to. The cat portion of the experience was so sweet. I took some allergy meds and just went for it...It was $8 for 30 minutes and the kitties were so social. Very friendly, very cute and very well cared for. Overall this was a wonderful experience that comes highly recommended if you're looking for a cat to adopt and/or just need some time with a little kitty that wants to be loved on. read more

This is not a food review. I booked time to visit with the kitties after obsessing over YouTube videos of cat cafes around the world. This is not anything like those experiences. Yes, they have 12 cats. Yes, the kitties need homes, and this is a great way to have the public meet them for potential adoption. But the kitties need actual care. Two of the cats showed obvious signs of illness (Watery/goopy eyes) and several were sneezing. The fur on most of them was not soft meaning either they weren't grooming themselves properly or they were malnourished, and almost all had dandruff and other signs of skin issues. On top of that, a few were clearly freshly off the street, showed signs of being in recent fights, and were not fully socialized around people. If you're looking for cat therapy, this is not it. Hanging out at the local animal shelter would have been a better experience in terms of quality of animals, and those visits are free. In terms of food, I didn't buy any. But they have multiple flavors of candy coffee with almond and oat milk substitute options. The candy coffee purchased by several other people in the cafe had tons of whipped cream, so they don't skimp on the embellishments, but I can't comment on taste of any food products. *Note: I am a cat lover. I worked in animal rescue and as a veterinarian's assistant previously. My assessment is legit. read more

You can't be in a bad mood after going to Mac Tabby! I love the concept of this place. Rescuing animals from the local shelter and putting them up for adoption at this cat cafe is genius and so great for the shelter to clear up space. Mac Tabby is designed for the cats, which I love! There are tons of interactive toys, perches, and lookouts for the animals! There is a coffee bar out front that has delicious drinks that you can take into the cat room with you! There is a TV monitor in the room that rotates through pictures of the cats that are available for adoption with their names and the color of collar they are wearing. The staff in the room is super knowledgeable about each kitty and what they like and dislike! I truly have the best time every time I come here! I cannot recommend this place enough! We had SO much fun! The cafe and cat lounge are separate areas. The cafe is open to walk in customers. The cat lounge is available by reservation, or you can do a walk in if they have space. With Covid-19, the max is 10, so I highly recommend reservations. You can also reserve the entire space for up to 10 people (which is what we did). We had iced and hot s'mores lattes. They were delicious! My only negative comment is that the bakery items available were very limited. They advertise gluten free brownies and cookie bars on their site, but the staff who assisted us couldn't tell us what, if any, of what they had today was gluten free, so my brother in law wasn't able to try any of the bakery items. read more
