I wanted to say, I don't usually do reviews. But in this case, I felt compelled that I should make an exception based in how I was treated. I also received rude service along the lines of what the other customer noted. I am an IT professional by trade, so I already know that apple products and replacement parts are way over priced. I can talk shop with this so-called professional, and was looking for a no BS answer from him regarding a repair I was doing for a client of mine. Anyway, I enquired about a data cable and was quoted $45. I looked online and found the cable for around $10-$15 from a store in Markham, with free shipping. I called him back, and asked about his quoted price, and whether perhaps his price included installation (even though I could do it myself, I didn't have the part, and so I was wondering why the price was so inflated to nearly 3 or 4x market value.). He responded by saying and began scoffing, "We are a business, and we like to make money. Those online places aren't selling genuine product....long pause. Even if they do, we typically charge our customer higher to make money." So what can you take from that, other than maybe online retailers like to just selling their products at or below cost for the sake of mankind, and he had his cashflow strategy figured out by overcharging customers. I get it folks, brick and mortar stores cost more to operate, are convenient, and we should support local small businesses and services. I am am a big promoter of that, when it comes to dealing with genuine and honest owners. Don't bother with small businesses that are greedy and exploiting customers that don't know any better. You deserve to be charged fairly, no matter what business you deal with. Your broken computer shouldn't be a vehicle to exploit you, and be charged whatever you want. As an IT professional, I see through this nonsense, and even if you are in dire need to get your computer fixed, always get a couple of quotes to compare. I have no other reason to write this, other than information. I am not a competitor, nor am I promoting myself at all. I am just another customer, like you. I am merely stating that I have a basis for my opinion, as it relates to IT, and have dealt with multiple vendors and consultants over a period of 20+ years in IT career. read more
